New Dodge Tires: Yokohama Parada Spec-X

Monday, June 4, 2012 by Steve Huffman

As many readers of this blog know, my daily driver is a 2007 Dodge Charger SE 3.5L V6. I bought it off a lot and it came equipped with the 215/65-17 Dunlop Signature. In my opinion, the tire's performance was average. In light snow conditions the tire lacks the grip I was looking for and I tended to notice a little bit of tread noise. Looking to improve my ride, I switched to a set of Yokohama Parada Spec-X tires. Also, the size was a little larger at 225/65-17.

Right away I noticed a much quieter riding tire as it absorbs impacts much better than the Dunlop the larger size may have some thing to do with that, too. Secondly, my new set of Dodge tires have improved the vehicle's responsiveness and handling. I drive on the open highway every day and experience a more stable ride in the high cross winds. A wide circumferential center groove and sweeping lateral grooves provide water evacuation that's improved traction in wet conditions. The directional tread design and softer rubber compound lend to a high level of confidence. While I don't intend on using these tires in the winter as I drive on a set of dedicated winter / snow tires, our customers say they do well in light snow conditions.

If you're looking for a new set of tires for your performance pickup, SUV or modern muscle car, be sure to take a look at the available sizes for the Yokohama Parada Spec-X.
