Tire Rack's Best Tires for a Ford Taurus

Thursday, May 31, 2012 by Steve Huffman

For the past few years. the return of the Ford Taurus has steadily gained in popularity. This American sedan has come a long way since its debut in 1986. Today it features good fuel economy, ample room and comfort for the family with a sleek, modern style.

In previous posts, you'll notice that I consistently like to recommend the Goodyear Assurance ComforTred Touring. This tire is one my favorites since it's one of the best riding tires I have ever driven on. Period. It offers the qualities most drivers are looking for in a tire: very smooth, quiet, great all-season traction and will last a long time.

Another great tire to consider for the Taurus is the new Yokohama AVID Ascend. This is Yokohama’s first mass-produced Grand Touring All-Season tire line in the United States using Yokohama’s Orange Oil technology and branded with their BluEarth eco-friendly identification. The AVID Ascend is engineered to offer long treadlife, low rolling resistance and good all-season traction.

Finally, if you own the Taurus SHO, you may want to consider the Michelin Pilot Super Sport. Serious performance and power deserve serious traction. There are stickier tires out there, but they are only found in the competition section. This Michelin tire offers the best blend of wet and dry traction over any other tire out there. If your SHO is a daily driver this is the tire to have.
