Looking for an Option to a Conventional Spare Tire?

Wednesday, May 12, 2010 by Roger Laughlin

Are you replacing your run-flat tires with conventional tires and looking for an option to a full-size or compact spare? Look no further, just check out the Continental ContiComfortKit available at Tire Rack.

The Continental tire company has developed this product specifically for this application. The Continental ContiComfortKit is a powerful, high-volume, 12-volt air compressor, with an integral pressure gauge and a latex liquid tire sealant packaged in a compact (7"X9.5"X3.7"), lightweight (5 pounds) unit that is easy to store. When used, you can drive up to 125 miles on the temporary repair at speeds up to 50 miles per hour and the best part is if the tire can be repaired, it can be returned to normal service once repaired.

Features include:

• Braided air hose
• Threaded hose end (more secure than push-on, thumb-lock inflation head)
• 15-foot power cord
• Lighted pressure gauge
• Low-intensity LED supplemental work light

See how it works - short video.

I am looking for a compact spare tire that would fit a 2008 Mini Cooper Clubman S. I recently replaced the worn run flat tires with standard tires and there is a rear storage compartment for a spare. Can you tell me what size spare I could use that will fit in this compartment. Thanks

We can help you with a full size spare in 19", however, it would need to be an aftermarket wheel as we do not carry the O.E. wheel and there are no Donut wheels available. The only issue with this scenario would be storing the tire wheel assembly in the vehicle!

Im in deperate need of a spare tire for a 2002 Ford Mustang and have searched everywhere.Where can I go to get an actual spare tire???????????
Wednesday, December 19, 2012 by Roger:
Just to better understand, what model Mustang do you have - select one below:

Mustang Coupe V6 with 16" tires and wheels
Mustang Convertible V6 16" tires and wheels
Mustang GT Coupe with 17" tires and wheels
Mustang GT Convertible with 17" tires and wheels

Also, are you looking for a full size tire or a compact spare, and finally, are you in need of a wheel as well?

Can I use the Continental ContiComfortKit replacement latex, etc with what Ford called Contmobility Kit? Mine is outdated and I need the latex.
Thanks
Monday, February 25, 2013 by Roger:
Thanks for your inquiry. Unfortunately, we do not have any specifications on the Ford Contmobility kit and as such, do not feel comfortable recommending the replacement latex sealant and parts from the Conti Comfort kit to be used in your kit from Ford. I would suggest you discuss this issue with Ford or Continental on a direct bases.

I am looking for a compact tire and rim for my 2013 Chevy Camaro 2LT , RS package with 20 inch rims ,do I have to buy a full size or is a compact avail,,?
Wednesday, April 10, 2013 by Roger:
Thanks for your inquiry. We do carry the compact tires however, the wheels for compact spares are vehicle specific and are to the best of my knowledge, not available in the aftermarket.

If your vehicle did not come with a compact spare option from the factory, you more than likely will not be able to find a wheel that will work. I would recommend you double check with your Chevrolet dealer just to be sure. If they do have a compact wheel available, it will probably be quite costly, so checking with a salvage company (junk yard) might yield a low cost option.

Finally, if you can find a wheel and the compact tire size recommended by Chevrolet, I am confident we would be able to help with a compact tire!

If you are placing an order online, please be sure to reference my name at the end of the order in the "Previous Contact" area, so that I can watch over the order as it processes.
