Tires for a 2008 BMW M3 Convertible

Saturday, June 5, 2010 by Cy Chowattukunnel
1993 BMW 325is, 1996 BMW 328is, 2002 BMW M3, 2006 BMW M5 and finally the 2008 BMW M3 Convertible - yes my brother likes his BMW's.

Equipped with 245/35-19 Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's on the front and 265/35-19 on the rear, it was time to replace the tires on his latest vehicle. Since the rear tires are a different size than the front, this Max Performance Summer tire carries a 6-year/20,000 miles warranty and half mileage for the rear if different size than the front. With 13538 miles, I provided my brother with the following list as options for his next tire purchase:

Michelin Pilot Sport PS2
#1 Michelin Pilot Sport PS2
Michelin Pilot Super Sport
#2 Michelin Pilot Super Sport
Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110
#3 Hankook Ventus V12 K110

#1: The Original Equipment Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 in 19" original sizes of 245/35-19 front & 265/35-19 rear at $1626* plus shipping.  It's a very good overall tire but more expensive compared to our other contenders.

#2: The new Michelin Pilot Super Sport in the wider alternative 19" in sizes of 255/35-19 front & 275-35-19 rear at $1288* plus shipping.

#3: The Hankook Ventus V12 K110 in the same wider alternative sizes at $774* plus shipping.

*Prices are subject to change.

Even though I suggested to him to select the Hankooks, as they are a good tire at a good price, he decided he wanted the tire that is expanding the Max Performance Summer tire category, the Michelin Pilot Sport.
