Initial Review, 500 Miles on Tires
April 09, 2013

Bought these to replace my worn out Pirelli Scorpions. Thinking spring had arrived I pulled off my Blizzak WS-70's and put these on. As luck would have it, 3 days later we got hammered with almost 2 feet of snow. Very quickly found out how good my Blizzak's really are. Calling these "All Season" tires is being optimistic. Traction in loose snow (after roads were plowed) is marginal at best. Cornering in loose snow caused the front end to plow and the traction control to activate immediately. Deep snow (unplowed roads) resulted in lots of wheel spin and darting. To be fair, I didn't buy these for winter driving and I did get a chance to evaluate them on dry roads prior to our spring snow. Road noise is low to moderate. Not as quiet as my Pirelli's but not annoyingly so. Haven't seen wet roads yet so I can't comment on how these do on them. Dry traction feels good but there is a small amount of sidewall squirm that you can feel in cornering. We have a lot of rutted roads thanks to the use of studded winter tires and these tires wander around when you get in a rut. It's not uncontrollable but it does make me feel a little loose compared to the OEM tires. I only have 500 miles on the tires so maybe they will get better as they break in and the roads warm up. I'll write a followup review in another 1000 miles to see if this is the case.

April 04, 2013

I drive my 328i to work most days, and live in Edmonton, Canada - where we can get all four seasons in an afternoon, and our winter takes its toll on everything. I bought the Michelins because they were held out to be a great combination of ride, handling, traction and wear. They replaced the rock hard run flats that came stock with the BMW - yikes... Anyways, I was very impressed with the Michelins on everything, from dry straight to twisty wet - except the ice. At anything below freezing, the Michelins turn into hockey pucks. It makes driving more fun, but less safe!!!

I would absolutely recommend these to fellow BMW drivers, but would also recommend that they look at some of the lower cost alternatives - like the Pirellis, Contis or even the Kumho Ecstas. I will likely take a look at replacing these with a 4 Season (NOT all season) tire like the Pirelli or Kumho 4S - just so long as I don't have to take a huge hit on performance. As it is, the Michelin is a fantastic "almost" all season tire, and if I lived in Europe or south of the Snow belt, I'd buy it again. Or maybe I should just move to So Cal...

I think I am the only review here that has these "SUV" tires on a luxury passenger car. I bought these solely on price and reviews on Tire Rack, and I'm very pleasantly surprised at the outstanding quality and value. I came off a set of Hankook V-12's that were an excellent summer tire in all ways except tread life. Since I plan to sell this car in a year or so, I got the "cheapest" tire available. In terms of ride and quietness (2 traits most important to my wife), these even exceeded the Hankooks, which were in themselves vastly superior the the OEM Pirelli P-zeros. In deep snow in Colorado during a ski trip last month, they were outstanding; I did better than a guy in a Grand Cherokee (2wd) we were following during a heavy snow!
Anyone seeking a really good tire at an amazing price, don't hesitate getting these for ANY vehicle.

Bought this car new. Tires rotated per owners manual and they became LOUD at 20k miles. Sounds like a wheel bearing gone bad, but it's the tires. They grip well, decent in rain and snow and wear pretty well. They are just really noisy. Will go with another brand when these are done.

These came stock on the 19" x 8.5" rims of my 2011 Mustang GT. I drive 6-speed with 3.55 gears, so the rear tires get a bit more shock treatment than that of an automatic.

Brand new, the tires are great. You almost can't get them to break traction short of turning the traction control off and dumping the cluth after reving up to red line. But after doing that a few times, you will find the traction/stickiness of the tire will have depleted.

They are still good all-around tires, but after a few months of driving, they lose their launch traction.

I have already replaced two sets (four tires total) in the two years that I have had the car and am about to replace another set on the rear. That would mean that about every 10,000-13,000 miles, they need replaced. The tread is not down to the cords or anything, but you can feel a major difference in the performance at the 10k wear point.

Road noise is pretty minimal for a low-profile tire and the ride is comfortable as the suspension on the GT with these tires rides very well. There seems to be a bit of roll/softness in cornering, but if you know your car well enough, you know what you can and can't do and the tires stay fairly firm. I will buy them again for all year tires, but I will probably switch to something stickier for Summer track action on street tires.

If you are driving a rear wheel drive car like my camaro and it snows where you live get a set for the winter driving. Took my pirelli stock tires off due to slipping and sliding on the smallest amount of snow and put the scorpions on and WOW!!!! huge difference no slipping or sliding at all. Went thru 6" of snow with no problem the Ice is very good as well due to the siping on the tread. Would have liked to be able to stud them but cant. One bad thing they are louder than the all season tires particularly on rough roads.Cornering is a little less stable than the all seasons as well. If it snows get a set ASAP!

These are the best tires I have owned -- including Michelin, Pirelli, Bridgestone on Saab, BMW, Accord. These are my first Contis. I thought they were freaks that would degrade after wear-in, opposite other tires. They were amazing right out of the box. And they got better. I had top of the line Bridgestones. These are miles better in every category. Particularly wet traction (you can feel them slice through puddles) and dry cornering (sticky and plenty of warning before gradually letting go). Quiet too. There is nothing I don't like about these tires. Still early for true tire wear veal, but looks good so far. How did Conti do it? Most tires are trade-offs in different performance categories. These don't trade off anything. If I can get only 30k miles, they will be replaced by another set.

I purchased this tire after speaking with a customer service representative when I asked for a viable option to the factory Michelin Pilot tires. I have been nothing short of delighted with these tires. They have a slightly harder tread compound than the Pilots did they maintain the cornering stability of the Michelins. Overall, I feel that they driver better than the Michelin Pilots and offer a better value due to better treadware and come in at a lower price point. I would enthusiastically recommend that you consider these tires as an excellent performing, outstanding value replacement tire for heavier SUV's that are used on-road.

These were the factory tires on my wife's 2011 Hyundai Elantra GLS. Overall, not a bad tire. I was very surprised to get 40k miles, although they really could have been replaced 5,000 miles ago, but the weather has been very dry so we've put it off a bit longer. I would call this an average tires. Its got some good things and bad things about it. The worst thing I would say is the road noise as they wear down. Although they were never quiet, they were not an issue the first 20,000 miles or so. After that, they have gotten noticeably louder. If you have more of an economy car like the Elantra that doesn't have good sound deadening for the interior, these tires will get pretty noisy about half way into the tread life.
As far as how they drive, I would say they are great on dry roads, average on wet roads. We've only driven with ice or snow a couple of times since we are in Fort Worth, so we don't have enough feedback to give an honest opinion on ice and snow.
As far as value, I think there are a lot better options available at this price or spend a few bucks more per tire and get something great. We are ready to replace and are going to choose between Pirelli or Yokohama.

I bought these to replace the Continentals that came OEM with my car, and out of the box they were significantly superior and fantastic. Considering they are merely all-seasons, their performance in the snow was surprising. I drive mostly in the city, so the streets get plowed regularly in the winter. I wouldn't use these for my winter set if I lived out in a rural area. The dry and wet grip when new was excellent. Now that I have over 37500 miles (60,000km) on them, their dry and wet traction is starting to decrease, despite having lots of tread depth remaining.

I have had my TL for nearly 10 years and 175K miles. During that time, the only real complaint I had was it chew up tires. I generally got 18-20K per set, no matter the brand (Bridgestone, Michelin, Pirelli, BF Goodrich, Yokahama), but I got 30K out of my first set of these Continentals (50% more miles and much more reasonable cost, with no performance loss at all!). Could not be more pleased.

I'm just about to purchase my 4th set of these tires for my Cherokee. Admittedly, I am not an off-roader and I don't ask much of my tires, other than to get me up and down the highway and the occasional trip to the mountains/snow. They definitely slip on wet asphalt and do require some 4wd help in the snow. Overall, this is a very consistent and reliable tire. It wears very well with scheduled rotations, it is fairly quiet, handles well, and maintains a good MPG. I drove Pirellis on a VW GTI in the past and was initially skeptical of putting them on a Jeep, but they have been great!

I frequently bust 110 mph on the autobahn, smash through winding turns twice the recommended speed limit, and my wife busts the occasional curb. Also I regularly drive in light to moderate snow, ice and LOTS of rain. Well let me tell you these tires are perfect for all. If you live in any part of the world these tires are great!! My wife drives the Caliber around winding turns and frequently breaks the tires loose without even knowing it, and let me tell you it not Dodge that should get the credit...Well to reiterate these tires are awesome, and if your looking for an all season tire look no further! I've had these tires for a couple months and have several thousand miles on them now. I waited till Jan. 1st to buy them, as the price dropped drastically...there was a drawback though...they're terrible in cold weather; I live in Virginia Beach, VA and figured it wouldn't be a big deal, as its not like I live in Minnesota (anymore). Anyway, Good luck trying to get traction in the cold..they are after all summer tires! Needless to say, I expected it and do not give a negative rating for that reason. When it warms up, they respond perfectly...rain or sun, they're great tires!!! I do think they'll wear really quick, but just based on a visual check. Oh, and the white letters look a little funny...I think I like it though; but it took a while to get used to it on my BMW! ya don't see white lettered tires on a Bimmer too often haha. Overall, great tires!!!!! Good thing it doesn't get too cold here in VA!
