These were the tallest and narrowest tires I could fit in the wheel wells. I have Blizzaks on my wife's GL550 and had Blizzaks my Turbo Cayenne. These tires have a greater tread depth and perform better than the Blizzaks and other snow tires I have used in the past. They are stable and have no issue carrying the weight of the Range Rover when loaded up. We have had great fun in the snow this year with them and I have traveled to the Upper Penisula and Upper Michigan most weekends and they are a screaming deal for the dollars spent.

2013-2014 Chicago winter! record snow fall and cold. The OEM Continental tires with 7/32
of life remaining were so bad in wet and any snow, it felt like I was on slicks.
Spent a month doing research to find the best tire.
I have to say for what these tires cost and the performance they give, you CAN"T go wrong. You get the best of all worlds, traction, handling, grip and style. Stop looking and get a set today!
I'll be ordering another set for my wife's 2007 Volvo S40 next month.

well performing tire all around (not good in deep snow- but most all seasons are not). But these tires only lasted 30K miles on my 2011 Acura RDX. Front wheel drive, rotated every 5K miles. What gives? Always kept tire pressure around 37-39 and no hard driving. (ok maybe one burnout when I first bought the car lol) Putting aside the wear issue, these are excellent tires but I cannot bring myself to purchase a set. Probably going to go with general altimax this time around. Heard nothing but good things and my mechanic swears by them.

I have these on my 2011 Miata, with a 6-speed manual and LSD. While their dry pavement traction is not quite as good as the Bridgestone summer tires that came with the car, these are probably the best all seasons I've ever had on a Miata (and I've been driving Miatas since 1996). I've previously used Bridgestone, Firestone, and Toyo all-seasons. My Miata is my only car, so parking it in bad weather isn't an option. I haven't had them long enough to truly judge wear, but they seem to be ok so far. While they were fairly quiet when brand new, I agree that they are becoming somewhat noisy. The ride is much less harsh than prior tires, probably due to somewhat softer sidewalls, but I still have a great amount of grip, and feel confident during hard cornering. This winter is the worst we've had in years, but I've never had any real trouble with traction. At about 45 mph on packed snow and ice, I tried to get the car out of shape using only the steering wheel, but was unable to do so. When I did break loose using the throttle, it was very controllable. In about 7 inches of snow on an unplowed parking lot, I had no trouble moving the car at all. I have never tried winter tires, so I can't do that comparison, but as long as you don't get too rambunctious, these tires do the job. I will also say that I really like their grip on both wet and dry pavement. When reading some of the negative comments on this tire, I almost wonder if they're reviewing the same tire, unless this tire performs that much differently from car to car. All I can say is that I'm very pleased with this tire. If this winter becomes the trend, I may get a set of winter tires, but barring that, I feel these are a really good tire for those who want to stick with all-seasons for their car.

I got these Michelin Super Sports when I put on my aftermarket 19" Brabus wheels. They are solid performers and have a nice quiet ride, which compliments the car. Road noise is minimal, even when the tires are worn down. Driving style is moderately spirited, the car is a daily driver to and from the office, with a mix of street and hwy in Orange County, CA.
My issue is the tread life. I used to get 20,000 miles+ from the Michelin PS2 tire and the Goodyear Eagle F1. On these Super Sports, I only got 17,000 miles, and the tread is showing on both of the rears (E550 is a rear-wheel drive car). I'm going with another brand this time, most likely the Continental Extreme Contact DW.

I purchased these tires toward the end of October and mounted them on the vehicle in the beginning of November. This is my first winter season in a few years without a four wheel drive vehicle and I wanted to ensure that I could get to work and other places safely in our lovely Pennsylvania winter weather! Well, these tires did not disappoint! I have roughly 3k miles on them and I have been in a number of snow scenarios with them this year. Every storm I have felt confident in my vehicles handling thanks to these tires!

I purchased a wheel kit from TireRack that included the wheels and tires already mounted and balanced. They are perfect! I do not have any vibrations whatsoever and the tires are not very noisy on dry pavement. The Fit is an econobox, and if these tires were loud, I would definitely know it. They ride comfortably and handle OK. These tires are not performance tires by any means, but they handle well enough and do not suffer from tread wobble like others I have seen. Where these tires really shine are in snowy conditions! I have more faith in my little FWD car than I did in my AWD Explorer or 4x4 Jeep that I had previously owned. These tires will get you moving and stopped in most situations that I have encountered. The one exception to that would be ice. Even though these tires are studdable, I do not have studs in mine. If I did, I am certain even ice wouldn't be a problem. I did not want the extra road noise from studs.

If you want a good all around winter tire, look no further! I will be purchasing a set of these for my wife's Altima for next winter as well. Also keep in mind, skinny tires go better in the winter than wider tires but you will sacrafice some handling on dry pavement. I would definitely recommend these tires to anyone looking for snow tires!

Like how PA4 communicates to driver in ice or snow conditions. First winter on the PA4 but has proved grippy and secure. Can tell when tire will break away on fresh or packed snow and what it takes to bring it back. More sophisticated than an average snow tire. In times past used Nokian, Blizzack, Dunlop, and many standard or high performance snow tires on various vehicles. Thus high expectations, even though there are few reviews of PA4. Interesting that Porsche had been involved with development too. We usually have traction control devices engaged in cars --on mode– when entering harsh weather. Recently, however, have been turning off DSC in Bimmer sport-wagon, as control and performance of vehicle seems even better with PA4's. Car handled better without using DSC. Added control with such throttle response has been fun and added new dynamic. Generally enhanced winter driving experience in the 5 Series wagon with sports suspension. Rear wheel drive BMW has been easier to drive fast in snow and ice latley, yet with more control. Car more predicable now. Cornering to date has been superb in dry/wet conditions and the sidewall feels firm while offering quiet, comfortable ride. Have not pushed tires too hard yet, as want to give belts and rubber break in period. Yet already feels like an Ultra High Performance tire with intriguing winter capability. Have not yet finished testing and haven’t been in really deep, heavy snow, but if these are first indications of what to expect then we're excited. For higher performance, lower clearance vehicles this should be a serious candidate for winter consideration. Looking forward to also trying the Michelin Xi-3 on other cars, as we are also big fans of the Conti Extreme Winter Contact which was very impressive on a Saab we own. That and the PA4 seem like the real leaders currently. Shall report back as we find out more about PA4 on BMW. Thus far does seem like a game changer in winter segment. Thanks Tirerack.

I rarely ever write reviews however I'm compelled with these tires!!! The best tire I've ever owned and I've owned many sets over 45 years of driving. Dry pavement and wet flawless! We here in Washington just got 6 inches of snow with 21 degrees of temperature and with that mix you know tires will be tested, again flawless performance. Wait, before anyone says well these aren't a snow tire, you're right but...I didn't get stuck and I have a "special" Tacoma in the sense it sits on a 4 wheel drive chassis but it's only 2 wheel drive. Nice ride heighth and boy with these Michelin's flawless performance. I was driving through snow that several vehicles were spinning in. Again not a snow tire but is rated for M and S. Best tire, spendy but you get a dream ride and terrific performance in bad conditions, ice, snow and any other impediments one could imagine. I kept up in my 2wd with the 4 wheelers no problem.

I bought these tires last year, and naturally, here in the Chicago area, it didn't snow at all!

But this year Chicago and north central rural Illinois has been a real testing ground for this tire. Having an all wheel drive vehicle certainly helps quite a bit, but these tires add a level of confidence that I've never experienced in any vehicle before. Extremely good traction on wet surfaces, in bitter sub-zero temperatures, both light and medium snow, as well as the large mounds that leave many vehicles plowed in the parking space on Chicago's side streets. I was amazed at just how well this tread compound handles icy conditions too.

Very good performance at highway speeds... smooth and quiet ride. I don't know how long the tread will last, but I use these tires only during the ice and snow seasons, so I expect to get a few more years out of them. Very highly recommended!

Buy this tire.

I bought these tires near the end of summer after my General Altimax HP tires gave me a nice long service life. I decided to go with this Firestone model because of the low cost and good reviews. My initial impression of the tire is that they are very quiet and offer good wet and dry performance. The fuel economy is about 1mpg better than the Altimax, which is negligible.

I always hesitate to write a review of a tire because for me, the winter performance is why I buy an all-season tire. I live in the Canton, Ohio area, so we get a decent amount of snow during the winter months. We recently had a good snowstorm that gave us icy conditions one day, light snow the next, and heavy snow the day after that. Please keep in mind that all of my driving was around town and not out on the freeway.

In the icy conditions, the tire performed like I expect any tire to perform: terrible. That is perfectly fine with me because I don't like being "that guy" that feels invincible because he has snow tires and/or AWD. I drive slow and try to get there in one piece. This tire got that job done for me.

In light snow, the tire did a great job. From a stop, there was the expected wheel spin that a non-snow tire provides, but it was less than what I anticipated. I never felt like I was going to slide through an intersection when the time came to stop, either. Granted, I drive slower in the snow and start braking at least 500' from a red light. The tires did not let me down in those panic situations where the light suddenly turns yellow, and I have to make a snap decision to try to brake or to potentially run the red.

In deep snow the tire did a great job as well. The performance was surprisingly similar to the light snow performance.

In all situations, I think that I would have trusted this tire on the freeway to get me to my destination, provided I would slow down for the conditions.

I would buy this tire again.

Drove 150 miles on back roads in a white out blowing blizzard the other day. Handled it like it was a dry interstate highway. Like the Michelin better than Winterforce or Blizak that I have owned on other vehicles. Worth the additional cost. Quieter and smoother ride than the other brands I've owned. Still some noise which is expected from a winter tire.I don't think any winter tire will ever be a 10 in this category or dry performance.These are close. They are made for snow and ice up north! Winter tires help 4 wheel drive vehicles stop as well as they go. Makes our already good Subie as sure footed as a mountain goat!!! Thanks Tire Rack for a perfect mount and balance on the package too!

Bought these tires to see if they would make a difference on a front wheel drive CX7. Have used them through a few storms this year. Last storm had 8-10" of snow on unplowed streets and they worked great. Some slipping is expected but starting and stopping traction was great.
They are snow tires so I expected sacrificing other performance. Even with this I am very comfortable with these tires.

I drive a heavily modified Porsche 951 making around 450 hp and 450 ft-lbs. The torque comes in quick and hard, it takes a really sticky tire to not turn to smoke in 1st and 2nd gear. These tires are the best I've ever had on this car, I'm running the 265/35/18 on a 10" wide wheel and its a little small, my next purchase will be 295/30/18's of the same tire. These things let me put my power to the ground, but they also let my car handle like a Porsche. I'm sitting on some pretty aggressive coil over suspension all around with huge sway bars and solid mounts everywhere. The car was built to rip corners, and these tires hold like glue at 100+ mph turns. I've got huge 4 pot brembo brakes grabbing 14" rotors on the car, with some pretty aggressive pagid pads. Its enough brake force to lock up most tires at 100 mph at max pedal effort, but these tires are the best non slicks I've ever used as far as having the grip to let me stop quickly. They handle wet weather great too, but I have to warn people these are a true summer tire and are downright dangerous in near freezing temps. I can't comment on the ride quality of these tires due to the aforementioned suspension, nor on the sound of them because I can't hear anything over my 4" open turbo-back exhaust. Tread life isn't incredible but I'm hard on these tires, sliding them around and spinning them fairly often. Also, its an incredibly soft performance tire so I wasn't expecting amazing life out of them. I said to myself if I got 10k miles on the street out of them I would be happy, and so far I'm at 15k and I think I can make it to 20k. When my current set of 4 is toast, I will definitely be buying another, slightly wider set. Great tires!

Factory tires that came with my new car. I put 43,000 on them over 5 years just going over the predicted warranty. Snow performance was great when they were new but after 20,000 I could feel the All Wheel Drive working overtime. Summer and wet was fine but I never pushed them beyond normal driving.

This is my third set of DWSs. I had them on my Subaru, and recently changed the tires on my GTI from Pirelli PZero Nero to these because The Pirellis were awful in the snow. We got a foot of snow yesterday and the Contis handled it admirably! For a high performance tire the snow traction is outstanding. This is the only all-season tire I've used that could truly handle all seasons. The dry handling isn't as razor-sharp as a high performance summer tire, but it's a minor trade off. I'd rather drive safely all winter and be able to corner at 8/10ths in the summer than skate around all winter just to be able to run at 9/10ths in the summer. I believe this is the best possible tire choice for year round high performance. The only thing better would be having a dedicated set of summer and winter wheels, but I am completely satisfied with the DWS under all conditions. Ride comfort improved, too.

I purchased these tires for my mother’s car mostly with winter weather driving being my main concern, as I tend to use it for commuting to work in snowy bad weather. This car, with the right tires, is a TANK in the snow. It’ll go and stop in anything! After prior bad experience with Good Year tires, I knew I wanted a quality tire from Pirelli or Michelin, so after a lot of research on TR I settled on these tires and was delighted to get a rebate at the time. As for the tires, they’re great. I just had this car in some serious snow storms here in NJ this winter and I commute to Morristown through the Great Swamp, which has tight turns with no shoulder and steep hills and the tires performed great. The one snow day it took me 1.5 hrs to go less than 2 miles in the severely unprepared roads and saw at least 10 accidents, with SUVs hitting snow ploughs, cars in ditches, 5 cars daisy chain crashed together, mult wrecked cars on flat beds going past me, SUVs just sliding down hills with the wheels turned full lock, and tractor trailers just parked on main roads, yet this car with these tires just kept on going with no drama. When you experience driving like this, you take your tires very serious. I plan on getting rid of the worn out POS Good Year Integrity tires on my father’s other Buick with these very same tires. They’re that good, the price isn’t too bad, they ride nice, and the mileage life is high. When it comes to tires, it’s your life, your insurance rates, and the headache of a car accident. Don’t get cheap!

I'm having trouble closing the gap between most other reviews, Tire Racks test of this tire, and my experience. Replaced the OEM Bridgestone Potenza RE92's with these and the ride is a little softer and much quieter, but steering response is terrible. I'm seeing few complaints of this in the reviews, and Tire Rack puts steering response as one of the strong points of the tire, but I can drive down the highway, wiggle the steering wheel, and feel the car yaw like a boat. It's a similar feeling to when I drive my parents 12 yr old Buick LeSabre, not really an acceptable driving characteristic in anything in a "performance" category. Outright grip when cornering and braking seems good, but again, any steering inputs mid corner result in a delay while the outside tires load up, then the requested change in direction. Maybe I was spoiled by the rock hard sidewalls of the run-flat Bridgestones, but I find it hard to believe all tires in this category behave like this.

I purchased these tires looking for a performance all-season upgrade tires that I've had in the past.----The tires I had were (for all-season tires) great in the wet and dry, and acceptable in the snow.----For the Goodyears, in the dry, straight-line grip is as good as I'd need from an all-season tire, and overall cornering GRIP is pretty impressive as well.----In the wet, straight-line grip is good, but cornering grip is seriously lacking.----My older and MUCH cheaper tires cornered harder in the rain than these Eagle GTs do.----Break-away is relatively progressive, with the steering wheel getting lighter as the tires give way, but it just happens too soon.----Snow performance is about what you'd expect from a performance-oriented all-season tire.----It works well if you're careful and gradual with your inputs.----My biggest gripe with these tires, by far, is how they do not feel solid at all.----I don't know if it's soft sidewalls, squirmy tread blocks, or a combination of both, but the car just does not feel right going into corners.----I make the initial turn-in at a corner, then about a second later I feel the whole car roll and settle as I continue through.----This did not happen at all with any of the four other sets of tires I have driven on with this car, and I keep the tires at 40psi, so it's not an issue with the car itself or tire pressure.----In conclusion, they're okay...they work well for commuting and slower-paced, every-day driving, however I would NOT recommend them for anyone wanting a tire that corners nicely.----Tire wear is okay, I like to take corners pretty fast, so at 16,000 miles when these tires are at around 6/32" depth, I don't have much to complain about at all.
