Great tires...for grandpa's Buick! Very quiet, smooth riding tires. Noticeable improvement in fuel economy over OEM Goodyear RS-A's. However, if you do ANY spirited driving, be warned: these tires have flimsy sidewalls compared to the RS-A's. I've had to pump these "balloons" to 36psi up front, 34psi rear just to maintain a semblance of performance. Above 70mph, there's a vibration that rebalancing hasn't solved. My fault for not sticking to a true performance tire. I can't wait to replace these. But given this tire's treadwear rating, I may be waiting a while...

I have 18 inch Honda Ridgeline (5 spoke) wheels on my van. These tires are expensive, but I bought them because they had the best customer reviews in my size. I have put 6,000 miles on them and I couldn't be happier... I'm glad I spent the extra money! They are SUPER quiet; even my wife commented on how quiet the tires are. I recently drove through a torrential down pour and there was no hint of hydroplaning or skittishness from the tires. I could not say that about the Michelin MXMV4's that I replaced... even when they were new. I cannot comment on the winter performance of these tires, but I run Blizzaks anyway. My only complaint is the tires tend to flat spot over night, but they smooth out in about 5 miles. As long as they smooth out quickly, I don't mind. If you by these tires, have them re-balanced after the first 1,000 miles and make sure they balance them warm, and without the vehicle sitting for too long. You will not be disappointed with these tires.

Have only had these tires a short while; replaced the OEM Bridgstone PolePosition RE050 RFT's; I did not have the same problems as other BMW owners, but after three sets, wanted to try something new. Read all of the reviews on Tire Rack and went with the SS's. Amazing. Took a few day's to get used to the lack of a sidewall not made of concrete, but man what a difference. Purchased the Continental ContiComfort Kit for emergency tire repair, and it stows away perfectly within the small storage area in the floor of the trunk. Back to the tires, I feel like I am riding on rails. Cornering, acceleration and hard braking are all met with positive road feel and feedback. I typically drive with a "Drive it like you stole it" mentality (when traffic permits, and have to say these tires are the most "sure-footed" of any tire I have ever used. These tires are also a much smoother and quieter tire on the Fwy (than the RFT's). In 6th gear at about 3000 RPM, my car glides along at about 90MPH, and these tires, while responsive, feel like i am driving a down pillow. What a change. There are other reviewers (look at the (Z06 guy) who have some track time on the tires; I can only compare to the RFT's which I had for the last 4.5 years, but for the money, comfort and ride--will never go back. Oh, not to mention, four tires, the ContiComfortKit, and BMW install, still $200 cheaper than the RFT's...
Hope this will help any of you on the fence about switching from RFT's, save your spine-you will not be disappointed. Will try to update this review when I get to 10-15K.

Talked into these in early March by Kaufmans manager. I had FS firehawks that were sooo loud and had to get off this car. I love Michelins, I just hate to pay $800+ a set. Once I drove off, for only $600, I knew it was the right choice. Quiet, soft yet responsive. They've done a 700 mile interstate r/t and gone up and down the mountains of N Georiga in fine fashion. These also resolved some rough braking sounds I was having with my Subie. Hope they stay great to 90K. Will be the best tires ever at that point. I have 34-35 PSI in these cold.

I rotate, align and keep tires inflated religiously. My Toy 4R currently has 228,000 miles on it and this is the SECOND set of tires I have owned! The Dunlops that came on the vehicle at purchase lasted (with conservative-but fast driving and a 5 tire rotation) until 75,000 and I purchased the Michelins. I know numerous friends and one family member who work for Michelin and they attested to their company's quality, etc. so I paid (top dollar) for what I thought was the better quality. I was hoping for 100,000 miles and have been VERY happy to finally be replacing them at 150,000!! Granted tread wear is now boarder line "ticket-able" so they're getting replaced. Durability and road noise/quietness is what I look for the most. As I shop for new ones, I'm not leaving the Michelin product line.

These have been excellent tires. I chose the 102T version to match the OEM tire weight rating. The original tires ----ed in every capacity except fuel mileage. I am currently shopping for new tires and was reviewing the surveys. I noticed some tires had better survey scores, then saw they those scores were based on like 19 surveys, vs the 250+ for this tire. These are heavy tires that have 40,000+ miles on them, and i will probably get another 10,000 or so before i have to buy another set.

CRAP - horrible treadwear! The developed a defect (uneven treadwear) on 2 of the 4 tires that were stored in a heated garage all winter............I will never buy a tire from this manufacture ever again! Always drove Michelin, you pay for what you get in life! OE tires are usually not that good with soft compounds, this is the worst OE tire I have ever had in my life (I flip cars every 2 years)! Stay away from these!!! CRAP!

So far I am loving these tires. I had a set of Goodyears with not many miles on them, and the front tires started to split where the tread meets the sidewalls (factory defect, but useless Goodyear didn't give a d*mn). I had to buy new tires and was always happy with the Michelin MXV4+ tires, but I found these Kumho's for $60 less and the same ratings (Better in some categories). My first few trips with these tires made me very happy I got them. They are super quiet, very comfortable. Their traction is top notch. They look great too. Its too early to tell how they affect mileage and how the treadwear is, I will update again with more miles on them. But compared to the old Goodyears, they were nearly $100 less per tire, they have much better traction and speed ratings, and the wear rating is better too. I got the Goodyears for the quite ride and the traction and I must say these Kumho tires out perform the Goodyears. I would very much recommend these tires, you can't beat the price and they perform above and beyond any other tire at this price, even better than some tires that are twice as expensive.

My 1990 Miata is set up with numerous chassis braces, aftermarket anti-sway bars, stock springs and ride height. These tires were very good in all catagories when new. After one year and about 4000 miles the tread became very hard making the car marginal at best in any wet/low traction situation, including roads coated with salt residue. I replaced them with a set of Dunlop Direzza Star Spec's for summer, and a set of Michelin X Ice2's on steel wheels for winter. Both are excellent tires and worth every penney spent.

There isn't one tire that anyone can say is perfect,But I must say that michelin accels in all catagories way above any other company out there.I will always buy michelin with confidence . Had to replace these tires with only 11,000 miles on them, hit a small pot hole and and a bulge on one of the tires. The ride was not to bad, but the road noise was unbearable, unless you were on smooth pavement. The steering was heavy with these tires. On dry pavement the traction was very good. Wet roads traction was not bad, but on snow, forget it they are worthless. Do not buy these tires.
Bought a new set of Michelin Primacy MXM4 and wow what a diference. Better handling ultra quite.

After driving on a set of the prior generation tires, you definitly notice the C2's improvements in ride comfort and wet traction. The dry grip is familiar and confident. Only negitive ... I wish the tire had an XL rating to deliver more turn-in response but that could also could detract from ride comfort. Overall ... BFG has introduced a great value in this tire when compared to the additional $141 (or more than 2x's the cost of tis tire) of the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. Save the extra $564 over the PS2 and give this tire a try ... you will not be dissapointed.

My Bimmer was a pitiful car when the OEM runflats hit 15 K, The fun had gone ,replaced by the need to pay close attention to lane grooves and transitions on the road, the car had begun to shake as if one or more of the tires were out of round or balance.. the fronts had begun to cup,and when I took it in to check the balance, the rears had begun to separate the inside tread,,,hard riding nasty groove action made me think about a new car. As I had tried Michelins on my Vette to cure the same issues.. I chose the Super Sport for the BMW..What a pleasant and fantastic change in the character of the car. It turns in predictably, rides quiet and smooth, stays on a line well and the worn grooves don"t effect the direction of the wheels as the RF did. I am a happy man and regret not the major money I laid out for the Bimmer and it's convertable top.. It rains a bunch here and I had some concerns about choosing HP Summer tires but as yet have had no problems with puddles and standing water at speed but I marked them down to 9 as they can't shed water like an All Season. Only about 900 miles on this set so can't say about how they will wear but they are very hard so hope they will outlast the crappy run flats...based on my experience I will definately be staying with this tire...did I say love em..I was so taken with them after the install, I put on 250 miles taking the long way home..thanks Michelin for giving back the fun car..

I needed to replace the factory Michelins after 75000 miles. I've had Kumhos on my previous Explorer, as well as, I have them on my wife's truck so I know how well these tires are made. I purchased these tires because I not only live in NYC but I also goto NE PA to see my parents, and winters can be bad. This winter was worse in NYC than NE PA, and these tires performed flawlessly. When NYC received two feet of snow and my Explorer was plowed in at work. The guys came out and said there was no way the Explorer would get out. Not only did it get out, but on many unplowed city streets, the Kumhos gripped and grabbed and got me home. These tires are extremely impressive. I would definitely buy these again.

Good traction. Good mix of dry, wet and snow performance. Decent noise level. Major problem is uneven central rib wearing in a car that is aligned and with normal tire pressure. Tires need replacing after 15000 miles. This is a known problem with this tire in certain sizes. It's a gamble buying this tire.

Initial Review, 20 Miles on Tires
March 31, 2010

Just put these on my 2003 X5 3.0 Sport this morning. Took them out for adrive to get a feel for them having come off of Michelin Latitude Tour HPs. I ran the Latitude's for 42k miles which is high for this tire on the X5 (negative camber kills inside treads).

While early, the difference between the Latitude and Envigor is, the Michelin has a slightly softer sidewall giving a more supple ride whole the Envigor has a slightly stiffer feel. Turning is super easy on the Envigor and you can easily feel the tread set in a full turn while accelerating.

On bumps, again the Envigos is slightly more stout while the Latitudes has a little more cushion. Having the Sport suspension on the X5 I am okay with this difference as it does not make the ride uncomfortable or harsh.

Braking grip feel good, very similar the Latitudes. Acceleration felt normal, good grip and no squealing or slippage.

I bought the Envigor base upon what I was reading online about the tire and it abilities. For $100 less per tire than the Latitude's I believe Yokohama is delivering high value to the market with the Envigor.

Being a business person, one can assume that 30% the cost of a product is advertising expense. So with the Latitude costing around $260 per tire for my car, that means $75 per tire can be advertising which means the value proposition difference between the Latitudes and Envigors is pretty close.

Overall, with such a short ownership experience to date, I am happy with my initial impression and will report back over time. If I get another 42k miles from these Envigors I will consider my choice fabulous as I saved over $300 choosing the Yokohama Envigors over the Michelin Latitude Tour HPs.

Is 255/65R18 Your O.E. Size?

Friday, May 18, 2012 by Gavin Carpenter

If you own one of the following vehicles with 18" wheels using the 255/65R18 tire size, this posts for you:

  • GMC Acadia
  • Chevrolet Traverse
  • Buick Enclave
  • Saturn Outlook

All of the Lambda platform GM vehicles above come stock with, or have been optioned to have, the 255/65R18 tire size. Did you know that a 265/60R18 works just as well, and gives you some great alternate tires to consider? Take a look at a few of the options listed below:

The Lambda platform crossovers can be frustrating to purchase new tires for if you don't want to pursue the tires GM supplies as Original Equipment. All of the tires on the above list offer a quiet ride, all-season performance, good wet grip and excellent handling for your crossover.

As always, be sure to check the tire size your vehicle has before shopping.  Some of these vehicles have 17" and 20" wheel options depending on the trim level.

These Contis were replacements for the OEM tires on our Cadillac SRX4. Got an almost unbeleivable number of miles out of the Michelins (+/- 60K) but I didn't think they were worth the premium charged. I stayed with the slightly different sizes front and back that came with the vehicle. They are quiet and have excellent traction. I did get marginally better MPGs, but hey, with this vehicle it's all relative - 16 city and 18-19 highway. They are great looking and I am about to buy another set for my daughter's Grand Wagoneer.

I have used these tires in summer driving only. The Lexus dealer told me that they did not meet the speed rating for my car, but I had read other TireRack reviews of this tire on the RX400h so I insisted. So far I have been glad that I did. The tires are quiet, provide all the performance I need (70 Km of commuting in mixed hwy/city daily and weekend hiway drives to the cottage) and appear to be wearing well.
