This is my second-set of these tires, and they are outstanding for day-to-day use. But, they are pretty-good on spirited drives through winding mountain roads around the San Francisco Bay Area. I take them off in the summer, bout sometimes I only get them off in August through the end-of-October in order to wear my Michelin 19"-ers. My wet-month tires are the 18"ers. Since I rotate from 18-to-19's, I am not totally sure about the mileage, and I rotate tires religously-- but they seam to wear forever. I have tried Pirelli, Dunlop, and the Yok's. But these are by far the best tires I have ever had

This is an awesome tire. Michelin has really come up with an upgrade with the offset tread pattern. It is giving us very good wear, cornering, and wet and dry traction, ride and they look great too.

Winter Tires Off and Ultra High Performance All-Season Tires On?

It looks like spring has actually sprung! This week we'll get more than one warm day in a row. That's great for us, especially after this winter, but consistent warm weather isn't so good for your snow tires. Their specialized rubber compound will wear prematurely in warmer temperatures. So winter tires off, summer tires on, right? Not necessarily, as you may want to consider an all-season tire. Consider the following factors on whether you should get a summer or all-season tire.

Summer tires, especially on a powerful sporty car with great innate handling, allows you to push your vehicle to its limits. In order to benefit from the higher grip and crisper steering response of summer tires, you really have to love to drive and/or your vehicle is so performance oriented that it needs summer tires to handle correctly.

Are you not as intense during your daily commute? Exact attributes will vary from tire to tire, but you might be disappointed with a summer tire's higher tread noise, harsher ride, faster wear and poor grip in colder temperatures. Maybe you'd rather emphasize a quiet, more comfortable ride, with better longevity and cold weather versatility combined with enhanced emergency handling? Then consider options in the Ultra High Performance All-Season category instead of a summer tire.

I'd take a good look at the Michelin Sport A/S 3 for its superior wet and dry grip, the Continental ExtremeContact DWS for its versatility in the face of an unexpected spring or fall snowstorm and the Kumho Ecsta 4X for its combination of decent wet grip, crisp steering response and value.

These Michelins came stock on my car. I have about 73K miles on them and I think they will go an easy 80k. I know that 2010 Honda Accords are noisy but I thank the tires are part of the problem. In heavy rain they will hydroplane. I had a few scary moments. These tires are expensive. I got great ware out of them but do to the noise and the rain issue I’m looking at getting a different tire.

Comfort, Wet/Dry, and Performance these super sports are the absolute best tire I have ever owned, PERIOD! ...but tread wear is horrible! UTQG is 300 should be more like 220. You can definitely feel the "Twaron" technology at high speeds- car feels planted to the road.

This really is a do it all tire. In the dry, I've not noticed any difference between the summer tires that came on it and these. In the wet....no problem with traction or braking. In the light snow...no problems. I've heard others report issues with snow, but even with the traction control off....they worked great for me. They are a little noisy on some kinds of pavement, but not unacceptable. Very happy with the all around performance.

Love these tires. Not too noisy. They are touchy-responsive with a stiff sidewall. Resist to slipping on the road, ultra grippy for people who like to drive swiftly. Handling in fresh snow (FWD) is great, I only had problems when the snow was too deep for my vehicle.

Traction is unsatisfactory in compacted snow or ice, but better than a summer tire. I recommend having studded tires.

My MPG average lowered to 26.9(Sport A/S 3) from 27.9 (OEM, which I deem acceptable.

I just switched to the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 tires as I had my third blow out on a set of Kumho SPT tires in about 5K miles and 13 months. On two occasions I could not see any rhyme or reason for the blow outs. On the first occasion it was a nasty pot hole and I totally understand.

The Michelin's are absolutely amazing, in particular for the price point that they are at. I managed to put about 500 miles on them in 3 days in dry, wet, very wet, cold and light snow conditions. The tires just performed amazingly well. In the dry, the level of adhesion is beyond the other three sets of tires I had on this car (Bridgestones and Kumho). On the same on / off ramps, I am going about 15 MPH above the other two tires limit and these just keep on sticking! The breakaway characteristics are very linear and very predictable and in the GTI with its FWD very easy to manage. Even more impressive is their traction in the wet, where on a trip to upstate NY in the rain and heavy down pour, they did not hydroplane even once and I had to physically watch the speedometer as the confidence that these tires inspire can easily inspire one to go a lot faster than one should! There was light snow when we got to the mountains and in the light snow there was no issue whatsoever with traction or predictability.

The tires are soft to the touch but in the 50 or so miles of the dry back road twisties I went to and threw the car around, I could not see any tread-wear whatsoever. I have not seen that on any new tires that I have tried on any of my cars as I have always got them to grain a little bit in that type of spirited driving. The steering response is immediate and predictable and I can really toss this car around knowing what the tires are doing as they communicate the surface really well. They are the quietest tires I have ever had on any car and there were no harsh noises or jolts when going over expansion joints.

I wholeheartedly and without reservations recommend these tires.

Simply amazing! These summer tires lasted me two seasons and almost 50000km on all types of mountain highways and conditions from northern British Columbia to the southern tip of Arizona. I own a 2011 VW GTI and I love to drive fast especially in the corners. I bought the car new with a set of Pirelli all seasons on them but didn't care for them much. These Michelin tires were a huge upgrade and gave me the confidence to consistantly push the limit. Mind blowing stablility and control with no slippage except when cornering under the most extreme circumstances. There is some hydroplaning in very wet conditions but not enough to keep you from being the lead car...every time. There is some road noise for the first few thousand kilometers during the break in period but it becomes increasingly less noticeable. You really get to know your vehicle and your driving capabilities when you run these tires. I am a starving university student but I live for those long, summer roadtrips so the price for these tires is well worth living off of Kraft Dinner and hotdogs for a few more months. I will definitely be buying them again. Thank you Tirerack for providing us with the best selection and prices for the only shoes that really matter!

I also run Michelin Pilot Alpin in the winter which are also very good performance winter tires. Check em out!

Wow. Fantastic. Expectations met and then some. I upgrade from Hankook Ventus V12's and even though these tires are in the same class, the PSS is a revelation. The PSS were a little noisier than I thought they'd be when I first got them, but the noise is of a different quality, lower frequency but not boomy, so it is not an issue. Compared to the V12's, the PSS feel like suction cups going down the road; my car has never felt this planted before. I first put them on the day before I went down to Tail of the Dragon, so they were immediately pushed to their limits. At the limit, they do not squeal; the V12's squealed quite a bit even when they had grip in reserve. Grip was noticeably increased in all situations. I even ran them in a torrential downpour the 4th day I had them; never felt a loss of grip once in heavy rain. Even the reduction in feedback from the wheel during the rain was noticeably less than the loss of feel for the Ventus V12's. These tires are multi-talented wonders. They ride more comfortably, although that could be related to running slightly lower pressures than I ran on my V12's.

The only gripes I have is that for my particular setup, steering response seems dulled. I am going to try slightly higher tire pressures this summer to see if that can remedy that without reducing ride quality or the incredibly planted feel they gave. Also, grip is noticeably less, although still very progressive, when the temperatures head south. Compared to the V12's, grip falls off quicker below 50 degrees. A shame because Michigan can bounce between 30 degree mornings and 60 degree days in the spring and fall. But overall, these are excellent tires I would recommend to anyone wanting to run a summer tire, regardless of price, which is also not bad for a Michelin. This feels like a pinnacle product, I can't wait to see where they go next!

The dry and wet weather performance of this tire is excellent at low temperatures in fact I would say the car handles better than it does on the OEM Continental Run-Flats. The tires are good in light snow and traction is excellent but when snow gets deeper, although the car never gets stuck,the tires do not feel as if they are gripping that well and you have to be careful not to brake too hard or they will slide. The tread pattern is not an aggressive winter tire patten. I have had no problems so far due to the fact I drive on roads that usually get ploughed soon after a snow fall but if I was diring in deeper snow more often I'd get something with a slightly more agressive winter tread and forego some of the really excellent dry and wet wether performance.

I knew when I purchased these tires that they would not be the best for winter driving, but they would be superior for dry and wet driving. This is exactly what I have found to be true. In the dry and wet they are fantastic for sure. My car handles much better than before while using the OE GoodYears. Turn in is excellent and they stick like glue in dry or wet weather. The tradeoff comes with snow and ice. These tires are adequate for winter driving. They do provide reasonable traction in snow.
Would I buy them again now that I have lived with them, the answer is absolutely. Would I recommend them to someone that is looking for more that a reasonable amount of winter traction, maybe not. They certainly meet my needs and expectations. I would rather have a great tire for three seasons and compromise a little with winter driving.
If your looking for better winter driving capability but are willing to loose a bit of handling then you should look at the DWS's.
Its all about tradeoffs.

I replaced the original Pirelli run-flat tires with these Michelin Pilot tires. Immediate impression is much less road noise, less jarring over road ruts and equally good handling and feel in corners and acceleration. These are NOT runflat tires, and I deliberately chose this to imporve the comfort of the ride of my lowered Cooper S.
I recommend these tires over the OEM pirelli run-flat tires. I carry a can of slime in case of a puncture, but have not had a puncture in several years so am not too worried about that, and I would probably call BCAA or AAA if it was a serious blowout.

I don't want to deal with separate snow tire hassle, storage and cost, so I try compromising with high-performance A/S tires. While I will give Michelin high marks for it's Pilot A/S+ all-around strong performance, good dry and wet performance, good enough snow performance to get me home in 3 inches of snow (in a 360hp rwd 550i); I frankly expect this for $200/tire. What I don't expect is 3/32 of tread left after only 14,000 miles, consisting mainly of my boring 6 mile commute to work. This is pathetic. The 500AA treadwear rating is a joke. I rotated every 6,000 miles to keep up with warranty requirements. Oh, there is another joke, the 45,000 mile warranty. Since the middle of the tire is worn down to the wear bars, but both outside treads have plenty of tread left, this is considered 'uneven wear' and will void the warranty. This is borderline fraud. Maybe if you drive a Prius, these tires will wear evenly, but they are marketed as the ultimate in A/S high performance, and I dare Michelin to show me a real performance car where these things will wear evenly for 45,000 miles. Stay away unless you don't mind shelling out $800 every 14-16k miles for new tires. I'm certainly not going to buy another pair.

I had been very pleased with the Bridgestone Potenza RE-11's that I previously had, and had heard that the Pilot Super Sports (PSS) were supposed to be even better, so I purchased a set when my RE-11's wore out. While the PSS's are a decent track tire, they do not have near the hold and stickiness that the RE-11's have. I was not able to hold the same line in the corners with the PSS's and the stopping distance in the back straight at Mid-Ohio was an extra 100-150 feet using the same brake pads (Pagid Yellows on front and Orange on rear). Overall, I was disappointed with the tires for track use. For street use, they are a very good, reasonably priced choice. If I am only looking for a street tire, I would strongly consider purchasing these again. For track use, I would definitely not.

Decided to replace my 50% used Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires with a set of these A/S 3's, along with new wheels. I upgraded from the OEM size 205/50/ZR 16 to a set of 205/45/ZR 17's on Sparco Tarmacs. Both the Continentals and the Michelins were W speed rated. While I understand upgrading to larger wheels with smaller aspect ratio tires improves handling, I only reduced the aspect ration by 5%. I say that because the difference between the Continental's and the Michelin's is night and day.

2 weeks prior I upgraded my suspension with the H&R Touring Cup Kit. While it was a significant upgrade over stock, I felt it was still missing something. There was still some roll in hard corners and the steering was a tad mushy. I simply couldn't believe the difference as soon as I bolted up the new wheels with the Michelin A/S 3's! The Conti's have a very soft sidewall that makes the suspension feel mushier than it needs to be. Turn in on the Michelins is simply outstanding. Crisp and precise. Prodigious grip in corners and very predictable at the limit. High speed stability is light years ahead of the Continentals, which were excellent in there own right. Ride quality is actually a tad better than the DWS's as well. I would recommend these to anyone looking for a truly no compromise all-season tire.
