Second set of Dunlop's after an interim set of Michelin's, which did not suit the truck at all, (Michelins had firmer sidewalls that gave a uncomfortable ride). As the truck is rarely driven in snow there is no need for a more aggressive treaded tire. Will buy the Dunlop's again as they suit the trucks ride and handling and are good value too.

I've only had these tires on my car for a couple of weeks but in that time we had a major ice storm and several snow storms. The ice traction is excellent - no issues with stopping, starting or cornering. In snow they are very good - both deep and light snow in both wet/slushy conditions and dry powder conditions. They are not as secure in wet but are manageable. In unplowed conditions I can accelerate like I am on dry pavement and stopping and lane changes are drama free. Not quite as good as the Good Year Ultragrips I used in the past, but since they are not made in my tire sizes, the Dunlops are very good for both my 2013 S Class and my 2013 E Class.

Since putting on the tires just after Thanksgiving I have had an opportunity to test them in very challenging winter road conditions. I have thus far experienced snow covered highways, black ice, and a mixture of snow and ice. The tires have remarkable traction yet at the same time offer excellent dry pavement handling and ride quality. These tires are a 9+ on a scale of ten.

So far the tires have made a dramatic improvement in overall performance and fuel economy as well as extreme comfort. The Mercedes is a fairly large sedan and has been known for comfortable cruising but with these tires they are un---ly excellent for soaking up anything the road could throw at you. I've driven over wet, crusted, beaten, uneven concrete, filled with potholes deeper than Russian philosophy and I didn't really feel all that much. They're a fantastic set of tires and I will be buying these for my car for the rest of it's life. They're fantastic.

I have only put a few hundred miles on these tires but have been through 1 heavy wet snowfall and now a larger snowfall with deep, light snow and ice. The tires have made my E Class feel solidly planted in snowy weather. The traction control has yet to kick in even with heavy throttle starts - the car just goes. Steering in snow/icy conditions is very stable and direct and stopping is effortless and the ABs doesn't activate. Dry grip is good although the tires do make the car feel a bit numb. The only time I felt a loss of traction was during heavy acceleration on wet pavement.

I have run Blizzaks (didn't like them in deep snow) and GoodYear which I loved, but since GoodYear doesn't make my tire size in UltraGrips, I decided to try these. They are so good I bought a set for my much larger S Class and cannot wait to se how they behave on the larger car.

I first bought these tires for a Honda and they wore great. They do get loud as wear and vibrations start. Now on my Mercedes about the same but the extra HP in this car wears them rather quickly. After 12,000 miles I just Rotate them to the back till there bald. My Complaint is the the wider tires have the solid band in the center which ='s NO Winter traction at all.I'm averaging 4 Pair a year @ 40,000 miles a year.

This vehicle was purchased new with the Dunlop SP Maxx GT tires, normally, would not have even looked at these tires - however, after a little over a year on the vehicle through a number of changes in the season (including Winter), a new set are going on the vehicle next week.

Having gone through other vehicle changes in the tires (Mercedes, Toyota) the manufactures do seem to have a way of selecting the best performing tire for these vehicle. Based on the price of the vehicle and joy of the drive - I would strongly suggest staying with Dunlop. Be happen and be safe.

If you do change tire brands, please do not automatically assume that all tires perform handle the same in all conditions - you have to relearn what your tires will do in various conditions.

Enjoy the ride - and be safe

I purchased my Pirelli tires to replace a set of older s rated tires that did nothing to compliment the ride and handling of my c280. These tires are smoother, quieter, and handle better than my other tires ever did. They bring out a firmness of my suspension I did not know it had. They handle great in the rain and and hold the road very well in the wind. I am eager to see how they do in the snow!

This tire rides extremely hard on my Mercedes E350. Has been very difficult to balance. You feel every irregularity in the road surface in the steering wheel or the seat of your pants. Seems like the sidewalls have zero flex. It was sold as a comfort tire, not a sports tire. Would not recommend it or every buy again. Should have known better than to buy anything with the word "eco" in the name.l

With Bad Weather Coming, Make Sure Your Wiper Blades are Ready

Wednesday, November 20, 2013 by Doc Horvath

Just like with your tires, it never hurts to be proactive and replace your wiper blades before harsh weather arrives. In most cases, it's easy to tell when your wiper blades are starting to fail as they start to smear or push rain across the windshield instead of wiping it away cleanly. We carry efficient and durable options from PIAA and Valeo that either match your Original Equipment or exceed your current blades in design and efficiency.

Valeo's ULTIMATE® Wiper Blades feature an aerodynamic design that provide more than 1,500 continuous contact points across the blade that help it minimize the chance that ice or snow will accumulate and affect the blade's performance. Their blades perform so well that they're used as Original Equipment on Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota and General Motors applications.

We also carry PIAA wipers, as they use a revolutionary process to infuse their blades with Silicone to maximize durability and effectiveness. PIAA offers their Super Silicone technology in both the traditional frame design (one with a sporty air spoiler to improve high speed performance), as well as the low profile frameless design.

What Are the Best Brake Rotors for My Car?

Wednesday, July 31, 2013 by Zig Ziegler

When choosing a new rotor, the fist question should be: "Are you happy with the current stopping power of your vehicle or would you like to increase the braking performance?"

Tire Rack offers many rotors which will be direct Original Equipment replacement rotors, like the Centric Plain 120 Series and Brembo Replacement Rotor. These rotors maintain the same braking performance as the Original Equipment.

 Centric Plain 120 Series
Centric Plain 120 Series Rotor
 Brembo Replacement Rotor

If you're looking to increase performance or style, you may want to choose a slotted or drilled rotor like the Brembo Sport Slotted Rotor or the StopTech SportStop Drilled Rotor. Some high performance vehicles like BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi even come built from the factory with slotted or drilled rotors. In cases like this, these items would be direct Original Equipment replacements.

 StopTech SportStop Drilled Rotor

The science behind the slotted and drilled rotors is during heavy braking. These rotors get so hot that when the brake pad makes contact with the rotor, it'll release exhaust gases from humidity, rain or road grime and tiny air bubbles are trapped between the rotor and pads. This gives you a spongy, unresponsive pedal feel until all gases have escaped after a few moments. The drilled or slotted areas on the rotor provide the exhaust gases a quicker route to escape, therefore, letting the pad make contact with the rotor quicker.

To view the full list of brake rotors offered for your application, shop by vehicle.

Continental's PureContact with EcoPlus Technology vs. ContiProContact

Tuesday, July 9, 2013 by Gary Stanley

About ten years ago, Continental released the original ContiProContact. This tire competed well with the top Grand Touring All-Season tires of that day, including the Michelin MXV4 and Bridgestone's line of Turanza touring tires. These tires met the needs of drivers of a variety of vehicles from family sedans to crossovers. The Continental ContiProContact was also selected as Original Equipment on many luxury cars, such as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Audi A4 and BMW 3 Series.

Over the years, the ContiProContact began to fall behind newer tires with more advanced technology such as the Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus and Michelin Primacy MXV4. For a comparison on these two newer designs, read "Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus Rises to the Top of the Grand Touring All-Season Tire Category." In response to the rapidly changing and competitive Grand Touring All-Season market, Continental introduced the PureContact with EcoPlus Technology.

The PureContact with EcoPlus Technology is quite a bit better than its predecessor. Advancements that Continental have made with this new design have paid off, as the tire is currently ranked number one in our customer survey results. It competes very well against the best tires in its category, while selling at a lower price in most sizes. This makes the tire a great value and outstanding choice for drivers looking for a blend of ride quality, all-season traction and long wear, while maintaining good levels of handling and steering response.

Replaced factory Pirelli PZeros which came OE for this vehicle. The Michelin PSS has outperformed the PZeros in all respects; traction is noticeably improved in straight line acceleration. Rears need replacing now at 10k which is typical for this car. Fronts have about another 1/2 life so I expect I will need all 4 tires in another 10k miles.

So far I have had this tire for 2 months with about 600 miles. They perform great on the autobahns in Europe and handle pretty well in the Alps on cold wet roads. Since I've put these tires on my 08 MB E 350 4MATIC, the car drives just as smooth as the day I picked it up from the factory. This tire is very smooth, quiet, and handles, and responds great on the open road. I highly recommend this tire. ADM
