These replaced well worn Yokohama s.drives in the same size, mounted on Mazda CX7 OEM wheels 18x7.5". The s.drives had 35K hard heat soaked miles on them, were zigzag cupped on the insides (bad rear toe) and very thin inside compared to outside, perhaps from the MZ3's stock negative camber. Noise and dry grip are dramatically improved, as is the ride comfort, keeping in mind that any new tire replacing a worn and heat cycled tire will almost always be quieter, grippier and softer riding. The Las Vegas heat is brutal on tires, and it so seldom rains I cannot comment on and wet performance. I also can't comment on tread wear as of yet. So far and am very pleased I spent the extra $1 per tire over a new set of s.drives. This was all thanks to Tire Rack's excellent customer survey system. As I look back at all of the Yokohama tires I have purchased here at Tire Rack it seems all Yoko's get extremely noisy with age. Maybe a brand trait? I only thank the Good Lord that Tire Rack does not have a button to click on that tells you how much money you have spent total on tires in your life time!

Previously ran Cooper CS4 Touring on my Mazda, these are almost as comfortable and quiet as those tires but with a noticeable upgrade in the handling department, both dry and wet. Have not been able to max out the car/tire combos capabilities, but feel confident to push them hard in daily driving.



Compared to OEM Michelin MXM4, sidewall is softer on the Hankooks, giving greater comfort with slightly less response to steering inputs. Handling limits are much higher than the Michelin's though. Worlds quieter also.



The Ventus V12 Evo's seem more like a Grand Touring tire in general use, but easily kicks up its game in hard driving. Drives best over asphalt; if you drive a lot of concrete, try to test before buying - my Mazda likes to dodge around a lot more on some concrete highways (not all), but asphalt is smooth and very quiet.

Needed to get an immediate replacement of 2 tires for the front of the 2010 Mazda CX-7 due to a nail in the one of the OEM tires. The tires made an immediate improvement in noise reduction, ride comfort, and handling. My initial impression is that we will get better wear and performance over the OEM tires. Not too many options in this tire size, and I feel we made teh best choice.

Best tires I ever owned. I check the inflation on my tires every week, rotate them at every oil change and have my alignment checked once a year. I could easily get another 3,000 miles out of them if I wanted, but the tread is down to the wear bars. My only problem is nobody carries them so I have to special order. Worth the wait. The stock Goodyear tires only last 28,000 miles.

Living in Germany where snow tires are required during the winter months. I am running Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S tires the rest of the year. I can compare them to each other. The Michelin tires are by far the best tires I have ever put on any of my cars for warm or wet driving. But when it is cold (40 degrees or lower) or icy, the Conti's are mind-blowing. I am 45 years old and grew up driving in snow and ice covered steep, curvy mountain roads. The Conti winter tires brake and handle astonishingly well on snow and ice. They are superior to the Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S in very cold temps on both wet and dry. They have two weak spots. First, when pushed hard in sustained turns, they fall off suddenly and dramatically, which is forgivable for winter tires that perform so well as intended. Second, at high speed in a strait line the car is very unsettled. It just won't track straight. My my oldest son eventually gets queazy.
This comes on at about 60mph and gets worse all the way to 'can't go any faster" mph. The Autobahn is smooth as freshly Zambonied ice and yet the exhausting high frequency instability is ever present. (tried rotating tires, no effect)
Bottom line:
Astonishingly good winter traction in cold dry, cold wet, snow covered and ice covered roads. If you travel at high speeds for long periods of time, maybe look at another tire.

This set replaced a set of RE01R's. I drive them very aggressively in the east Tenn/NC mountains. Incredible traction off the line and in the corners. Have been caught out in deluges without problem. After sitting for a while they do need a few miles to even out. I've pretty much worn them down to slicks after 5000 miles but I expect that with my driving style with these tires. I am ordering another set. I do have a set of more "reasonable " all season tires for daily/off season driving. My car is supercharged with moderate suspension upgrades.

I bought these as a replacement for the used 1996 Miata, I bought on ebay in 2008
(installed at 122,000 and currently 155,000 [2014] - expecting another 15,000 miles). Very happy, great in the wet and never caught in snow, but I don'yt drive it in snow deeper than 6 inches. I don't race in the rain, but I feel confortable doing 65 on the Turnpike. Going to get another set if the car lasts that long !!

Love these tires. Not too noisy. They are touchy-responsive with a stiff sidewall. Resist to slipping on the road, ultra grippy for people who like to drive swiftly. Handling in fresh snow (FWD) is great, I only had problems when the snow was too deep for my vehicle.

Traction is unsatisfactory in compacted snow or ice, but better than a summer tire. I recommend having studded tires.

My MPG average lowered to 26.9(Sport A/S 3) from 27.9 (OEM, which I deem acceptable.

Wow. Fantastic. Expectations met and then some. I upgrade from Hankook Ventus V12's and even though these tires are in the same class, the PSS is a revelation. The PSS were a little noisier than I thought they'd be when I first got them, but the noise is of a different quality, lower frequency but not boomy, so it is not an issue. Compared to the V12's, the PSS feel like suction cups going down the road; my car has never felt this planted before. I first put them on the day before I went down to Tail of the Dragon, so they were immediately pushed to their limits. At the limit, they do not squeal; the V12's squealed quite a bit even when they had grip in reserve. Grip was noticeably increased in all situations. I even ran them in a torrential downpour the 4th day I had them; never felt a loss of grip once in heavy rain. Even the reduction in feedback from the wheel during the rain was noticeably less than the loss of feel for the Ventus V12's. These tires are multi-talented wonders. They ride more comfortably, although that could be related to running slightly lower pressures than I ran on my V12's.

The only gripes I have is that for my particular setup, steering response seems dulled. I am going to try slightly higher tire pressures this summer to see if that can remedy that without reducing ride quality or the incredibly planted feel they gave. Also, grip is noticeably less, although still very progressive, when the temperatures head south. Compared to the V12's, grip falls off quicker below 50 degrees. A shame because Michigan can bounce between 30 degree mornings and 60 degree days in the spring and fall. But overall, these are excellent tires I would recommend to anyone wanting to run a summer tire, regardless of price, which is also not bad for a Michelin. This feels like a pinnacle product, I can't wait to see where they go next!

This is my second set of these tires. The first set was on a Mazda Protege 5 and lasted for over 30,000 miles. These are slightly wider than the OEM tire for the Fit. They provide a much smoother and quieter ride than the OEM tires. Traction is great in dry, wet, and light snow conditions. I switch to winter tires for deep snow (this winter in Michigan they were a lifesaver)! I really like these Continental tires. The only down side to them is the limited sizes available. I'd install them on all my cars if they had sizes available. They really transform the ride of these light cars as they are so much smoother and quieter.

Tirerack's delivery and the quality of the tires delivered were impeccable.

Coming from Continental ExtremeWinterContact's, the Blizzaks are more comfortable, steadier, and more predictable. My old Conti's actually had better take-off grip than the WS70's and had better dry weather grip and dynamics, but rode harsher, made the rear end squirrely, and were less predictable in breakaway events under all conditions. The Blizzaks are better in wet weather versus the Conti's and light years ahead in slushy conditions. I have not been stuck with them on during the winter of 2014, where we have received over 100" of snow. The only thing holding them back would be my car's ride height and lack of all wheel drive.

The only thing I would the WS70's to be better is in absolute grip (acceleration, brake, corning) but only if the predictability and stability were not compromised. Better to have a tire with lower limits that doesn't scare you than one with higher limits that does.

These tires are so much better than the Yokohama Avid that came with the car. They are quieter over rough pavement, grated bridges, highway cruising, and any other road issues. There is no slipping when taking high speed turns. I don't think I could get better tires at the same or higher price.

Living in central Alabama, I needed a tire capable of handling a little bit of anything. We get plenty of rain, and the occasional dusting of snow. However, I didn't want to totally compromise dry handling characteristics. This tire fit that bill quite well.

For pure dry grip levels, it's an all-season. Don't expect sports car levels of grip. However, it handles mild spirited driving just fine (even did an autocross or two on these). It doesn't make too much noise either. Treadlife and wear is nice, and appear that these will last most drivers well.

In the wet, they are great. We get some heavy downpours here, and I've always had full confidence hitting even large puddles on the highway at reasonable speeds. Wet traction is well maintained, and very respectable.

What little bit of snow we get (as well as the bit I've experienced with these during my travels out of state) was handled well by these tires. Obviously not a dedicated snow tire, but in light snow, slush, and even patches of ice they remained a solid choice.

If you're looking for an all-around go to tire that you won't have to worry about what the weather will be, at a great price, you won't be disappointed with the Kumho Ecsta 4X!

Replacing Yokohama S.drive summer tires that were old on my lowered Mazda3 5-door. I tend to accelerate and brake rather hard and take my turns quickly.

The Yokohama's were like driving on railroad tracks: direct and instantaneous response to all input. From what I've gather reading the comments, this is due to very stiff sidewalls. I liked this quality because it gave me supreme confidence at speed and in traffic conditions.

Moving to the Hankooks I was first impressed with the complete and utter lack of noise and the vastly smoother ride. This is a trade-off, and overall a positive one. I liked the directness of the feel of the S.Drives, but I also find the slightly muted road feel doesn't isolate me too much on the Hankooks, and the quiet in the cabin makes it easier to hold conversations on dates (other car is a van and my wife and I like pretending we're still young on dates, hence my car's the one to take) and allows me to run the radio a few clicks lower.

Quick slalom moves at speed are perhaps the biggest change, and the one I like least. While the Yokohamas would quickly and surely change the car's direction, the Hankooks see to lag rather substantially, and with repeated left-right-left-right swings, they average out the trajectory rather than making each directed turn.

As others have noted though, normal turning is still OK, and the lag is minimal in normal turning. Right now, as I'm still trying to get a feel for the Hankook's handling, I haven't been as brave taking some of the smaller-radius turns on my commute at previous speeds. However, I have not felt any lateral slip, none whatsoever, so once I get the feel down, I anticipate being able to take these curves at effectively the same speeds as the S.Drives.

In short: They're softer than Yokohama S.Drives, mostly in a good way if that's what you need. If you value absolute handling precision above all else, these are not for you. But the Hankooks are quite nice if you value the tradeoff.

Great Snow Tire. Acceleration, braking and cornering are very good. I find them to be just as quiet as the OEM Summer tires. I have two Mazda-3 vehicles: one with the 4Ds one with the 3Ds. The 4Ds seems to have improved braking over the 3Ds, the other attributes are similar (I can't tell any difference). These tires love the wet snow, they rip through it with ease. They handle the hard pack snow well. They are less effective in the light powdery stuff when it gets over 3 or 4 inches. On the highway they are quiet, predictable and do not wander. Very happy with my purchase of the 4Ds.

Follow up from my last post. Great tires. Light snow traction is actually good. Suprised actually. As all my other "all-season" ultra high performance tires weren't that great in snow except the Continental DWS. These are like them in the snow and much better than them in the corners.

I have these on my 2011 Miata, with a 6-speed manual and LSD. While their dry pavement traction is not quite as good as the Bridgestone summer tires that came with the car, these are probably the best all seasons I've ever had on a Miata (and I've been driving Miatas since 1996). I've previously used Bridgestone, Firestone, and Toyo all-seasons. My Miata is my only car, so parking it in bad weather isn't an option. I haven't had them long enough to truly judge wear, but they seem to be ok so far. While they were fairly quiet when brand new, I agree that they are becoming somewhat noisy. The ride is much less harsh than prior tires, probably due to somewhat softer sidewalls, but I still have a great amount of grip, and feel confident during hard cornering. This winter is the worst we've had in years, but I've never had any real trouble with traction. At about 45 mph on packed snow and ice, I tried to get the car out of shape using only the steering wheel, but was unable to do so. When I did break loose using the throttle, it was very controllable. In about 7 inches of snow on an unplowed parking lot, I had no trouble moving the car at all. I have never tried winter tires, so I can't do that comparison, but as long as you don't get too rambunctious, these tires do the job. I will also say that I really like their grip on both wet and dry pavement. When reading some of the negative comments on this tire, I almost wonder if they're reviewing the same tire, unless this tire performs that much differently from car to car. All I can say is that I'm very pleased with this tire. If this winter becomes the trend, I may get a set of winter tires, but barring that, I feel these are a really good tire for those who want to stick with all-seasons for their car.

Has been a great tire so far. I have had extreme contacts before and did not hesitate to try a new conti on my wife mazda. Made a huge difference compared to the crap OEM. Actutally took those Bridgestones off at 30k because they just didn't feel safe in the wet and could not move in the snow. Highly recommend the conti's!
