Continental's New Rising Star in Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season Category

Thursday, January 3, 2013 by Gary Stanley

Continental's CrossContact LX20 with EcoPlus Technology has surged up in our customer survey results since its release. Survey results in the Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season category now have the tire ranked just behind the outstanding Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season in overall ratings. However, the Continental offering does rank higher in some categories, including light snow traction and noise comfort. To learn more about the top-ranked tire in this performance category, read "Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Top Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season Tire Survey Results."

The CrossContact LX20 with EcoPlus Technology is especially well suited for areas of the country where snow and ice traction are a concern. Its aggressive, heavily siped tread pattern and notched shoulders help create extra biting edges to take snow traction to a very high level for an all-season tire. Our own in-house testing was also very positive for the tire. Below is our summary from testing the Continental CrossContact LX20 with EcoPlus Technology:

  • What We Liked: Responsive handling and excellent traction, especially in the wet
  • What We'd Improve: Soften the ride quality just a little bit and increase snow traction
  • Conclusion: A very capable tire that trades some fuel efficiency for an advantage in wet grip
