Continental ExtremeContact DWS Replaced by ExtremeContact DWS 06

Since its introduction six years ago, the Continental ExtremeContact DWS has topped our customer survey data in the Ultra High Performance All-Season category. Its best-in-class snow traction, along with good wet traction and wear has made it the go-to tire for many drivers in the Snow Belt who need more snow traction out of their performance all-season tires. The few rare complaints about the tire is that it isn't quite as responsive in dry handling and hard cornering as some of the other tires in the category like the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S03. The vast majority of drivers of the ExtremeContact DWS have been thrilled with the tire, and most stated that they would buy it again.

When I first heard that Continental was replacing the ExtremeContact DWS, my first thought was "I hope they don't ruin a winner." After all, the tire is still a top-rated tire by our consumers even after all these years on the market. With rapidly changing tire technology, being on top that long is extremely rare. Many will breathe a sigh of relief after learning more about the replacement tire, the ExtremeContact DWS 06.

It is immediately evident from comparing the similarly aggressive asymmetric tread patterns between the old and new versions of the tire that Continental did not make large changes in the successful tread pattern of the ExtremeContact DWS. Also, look for the new version to make no sacrifice in winter traction. During a special preview test we confirmed the tire increases steering response, dry grip and wet traction. For a complete recap of the test, read "Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Preview Report."

Evan,

What is the year and model of your vehicle? Do you have the same tire size on all four tires?
