Is the Continental ExtremeContact DWS right for you?

Thursday, July 14, 2011 by Gary Stanley
Are you considering purchasing the Continental ExtremeContact DWS? You're not alone! As the ExtremeContact DWS is currently the top-rated tire in our Tire Survey Results and provides outstanding snow traction for an all-season tire, this value priced tire has indeed been a very popular choice.

However, despite the tire's popularity, it is not for everyone.

Many on the BMW forums praise this tire for its soft ride quality and long wear, but complain about the slow steering response and describe the tire as "floaty" in corners. This is an all-season tire, so it lacks the ultimate dry grip and crisp handing of a true summer tire like the Michelin Pilot Super Sport (more information on the Pilot Super Sport can be found here).

If you are an aggressive driver who is looking for a tire with a lot of road feel and fast steering response, you may want to consider different options. However, if you need an all-season tire, take a look at two alternatives with favorable feedback in regards to handling and sporty feel: the Yokohama AVID ENVigor and the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus.
