Initial Review, 31,000 Miles on Tires

These were a huge improvement over the Mich. stock tires. I will buy a new set mainly because of their excellent handling and traction. I was getting cut off on the highway doing 70, and all I did was a slight turn of the wheel; the response was perfect--no swaying and no need for heavy breaking. That was the day I swore I'd buy them again. I still have about 5 or 7K left, and they still handle nicely, but with road trips coming up I will replace them tomorrow. They've provided me with over 30K miles of safety and great handling.

Initial Review, 1,000 Miles on Tires
June 30, 2014

I bought these tires to replace the Kumho Ecsta's that wore out after just 30,000 miles. We went on a vacation the week we bought the tires and after 1000 miles of mixed driving in a one week period I could not be more satisfied with this purchase. The Ecsta's were very noisy, not a issue around town but after 5 hours at 80MPH it became very tiring, the P7's on the other hand were very quite and after driving 300 miles non-stop there was no noise induced fatigue. The rolling resistance on the P7's is so low that I also picked up 4MPG combined. The one complaint that I could have about the tires is actually a great complement, they took a little time to get used to as the turn in is much sharper and there is very little push in hard corners. I truly can not believe that a tire with a 700 treadwear rating can perform this well, I can now understand why it is rated at #1. I am looking forward to the next 60,000 miles to see how these do in the day to day.

These tires are a great value and were a great improvement over the Kumho Ecsta that was on the RX 330 previously. The Kumho had much better treadwear than Michelins but were noisy. The Conti's are quieter, ride softer without salvaging handling, do very well wet and dry road conditions. My RX has air suspension, so it rides harder than regular struts I think. But the Contis have softened the ride. I am very pleased with them so far. One note, I did have to have them balanced by a road force balance machine to get the best ride out them.

Easily the best tires on my MS3 so far.

OEM tires on my car were Pirellis; I'm not sure what model. They lasted for roughly 18k miles. Cornering was terrible and noise levels were awful. The growl they produced could almost drown out the running engine.

Afterwards, I went to Kumho Ectsas which grip significantly improved; however, the noise level and ride comfort wasn't all that great. After hitting a pretty substantial pothole with my second set of Ecstas, a bubble appeared in the inside wall of the front right tire and since that set had around 45k on them, I decided to move to the Pilots.

Best decision I have made in a long while. The tires run super quiet and feel like you're riding on a cloud. Grip is amazing in dry weather and is exceptional in wet, snowy, and packed snow conditions. Cornering is tight, launches are crisper and overall ride comfort is amazing. Some of the greatest tires I have ever driven.

Initial Review, 30,000 Miles on Tires

I just rolled 50,000 miles on my Benz. The OEM tires got about 22K miles. I live in Phoneix where it rarely rains and is plenty warm most of the year. I would say I drive somewhere above average - but below spirited. The tires aren't the quietest, but not bad by any stretch. I don't require super sporty tires, just tires that last (these have almost 30K miles on them)and provide adequate responsiveness. Also, I'm religious about rotating them every 7-10K miles. For the price, you really can't beat these tires. They are getting close to the wear bars and I'll probably order another set.

Good tire. They are a bit heavier and stickier than my last set of Falken Sincera SN-828 which hurts my MPG by a little over 1 MPG, but these tires have a lot of grip at a great price. I will have to watch for tire wear, but it is too early to tell on that. I also don't use my summer tires in the winter so I won't be able to respond to that. So far so good. Very good price for this tire. They provide a lot of grip. No noticeable road noise even with windows down. I am happy so far.

So far 300 miles on tires. Very quiet, and ride is MUCH better than my Westlake tires on my car when purchased. Will have another review , once I can drive this rear wheel drive car in snow. At posted or above speed limit, smooth ride. Very happy right now.

Trailer Tires Offered at Tire Rack

Wednesday, June 25, 2014 by Zig Ziegler

Now is the time of year to get our campers, RVs and utility trailers out of storage and ready for summer trips. Before hitting the road, you need to look at the tires' wear and age. You'll also need to see if there are any bubbles, tread separations or cracks.

Our experience has been that when properly stored and cared for, most street tires have a useful life in service of between six to ten years. Unfortunately, no one is absolutely sure of how long tires will last because of many variables. Heavily loaded tires equipped on vehicles stored outdoors in sunny, hot climates and only driven occasionally face some of the most severe service conditions and potentially have the shortest calendar lifespan. In contrast, lightly loaded tires on vehicles parked in garages and driven daily in moderate climates experience some of the least severe service conditions and potentially have the longest lifespan.

If you need to replace tires on your camper, RV or utility trailer, take a look at the Power King Towmax STR, Goodyear Marathon Radial and Kumho Radial 857.

Kumho Radial 857

Towmax STR tires feature a symmetric tread design with a solid center rib to provide constant rubber-to-road contact to enhance highway stability, traction and wear. The tire’s internal structure features twin steel belts (15” and 16” sizes are reinforced with a nylon cap ply that further stabilizes the tread to increase durability). The Towmax STR’s rounded profile and polyester cord body are designed to help smooth out the trailer's ride.

Marathon Radial tires feature a rounded profile to enhance ride quality and a symmetric tread design with a solid center rib to provide constant rubber-to-road contact that delivers dependable highway stability, traction and long-lasting wear. Internally, the Marathon Radial features twin steel belts (with select sizes reinforced with nylon cap plies) that stabilize the tread to increase traction and durability.

The Radial 857 features a 4-rib design to provide dependable highway stability, traction and durability. It also has twin steel belts that stabilize the tread to increase traction, while a 2-ply, polyester cord body helps even out the trailer's ride.

If your camper, RV or utility trailer is due for a tire upgrade, be sure to shop by size and compare the trailer tires available for your application.

Initial Review, 9,000 Miles on Tires
April 01, 2014

These tires are one of the worse tires I have owned. Initially they were quiet. But after several thousand miles they are very noisy. They are completely useless in snow and not very good in wet weather. In spite of three alignments and 5,000 mile rotations, they are cupped.
