Is the Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position the Right Max Performance Summer Tire for You?

Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole PositionAs the flagship offering from Bridgestone, the Potenza S-04 Pole Position is a Max Performance Summer tire for drivers that demand the pinnacle of traction and responsiveness. Replacing the RE050A Pole Position, this new offering delivers more wet and dry traction.

Carrying forward with an asymmetric tread pattern, the inside of the tire is tuned for wet traction, while the outside focuses on dry traction. The outside tread pattern features high grip shoulder blocks that provide maximum contact with the surface for stability in corners. For wet performance, wide circumferential grooves and high angle grooves quickly and efficiently evacuate water. Using high levels of silica offers a flexible tread compound for additional wet grip.

Overall, it provides balanced and smooth traction, which makes them very predictable and easy to drive right up to the traction limit.

Currently positioned solidly in the number two position in our Tire Survey Results, take a look at what owners of this Max Performance Summer tire are saying:

"Completely changed the handling of the car for the better." -- Tire Rack Consumer Review, 2009 Pontiac G8 GT

"Right off the bat, I immediately noticed the tire had a ton of dry grip, and its amazingly quiet." -- Tire Rack Consumer Review, 2006 Honda S2000 SCCA STR Class

We also tested the tire, and again it took second place honors. While the performance is nothing short of excellent, we thought the tire could use a little more ultimate grip. Bridgestone seems to have targeted more of a balance between performance and ride characteristics.
