BFGoodrich Rugged Terrain T/A: Highway All-Season or All-Terrain?

Thursday, December 8, 2011 by Hunter Leffel
BFGoodrich Rugged Terrain T/AThe new BFGoodrich Rugged Terrain T/A is built for adventure.

It has been classified as a Highway All-Season tire, however its tread pattern may suggest it belongs in a category with all-terrain tires. The goal was to create a versatile and capable tire unlike anything else in the marketplace. While having rugged off-road appeal, the use of innovative tread design elements provides a comfortable and quiet ride. The Rugged Terrain T/A fills the gap between a purely on-road tire and those targeting the off-road trail. This bold design is no poser, with its wrap around rugged tread you'll have ample capability for those few times you go off-road.

The tire features a tread compound designed to resist cut and chips from gravel. Rubber reinforcement pads are employed to push lodged stones out of the tread, preventing stone drilling. Wet traction was an area of intense focus for BFGoodrich during the design process and you will notice they succeeded by creating two wide circumferential grooves that reduce hydroplaning, while a new rubber compound delivers improved overall wet traction.

Not any less important than rugged good looks and wet traction are comfort and noise. BFGoodrich put their computers to work by creating jagged edge grooves in each set of these BF Goodrich tires that help trap noise. The Rugged Terrain T/A also features a 50,000 mile limited treadlife warranty.
