Are my Original Equipment (O.E.) tires the best for my car?

What do I do about replacing my Original Equipment tires? Aren't they "engineered" for my car specifically?

That is a great question. While the O.E. tires are designed for your vehicle in general,  they are often not the best tire for your personal driving needs or style. Take this chart into consideration:

Notice the snow traction. Notice that the dry traction and ride comfort are decent, but pretty much everything else is less than desired. These tires are designed to meet a narrow set of design criteria.

Now check out this review:

Notice solid GREEN. This is the same manufacturer. They are from the same category. They are from the same tire family.  One major difference: the second tire is NOT an O.E. tire. This is the Michelin Primacy MXV4. The previous tire is the Michelin PILOT MXV4. Name very similar and the category is the same. But very different results. And here is the best part:  The Michelin Primacy MXV4 is usually a better price!
