Sports Car, Sporty Coupe and Performance Sedan Owners Need to Look at Hankook's Ventus S1 noble2

Wednesday, April 23, 2014 by Neal O'Neal

Hankook's newest addition to the Ultra High Performance All-Season category is their Ventus S1 noble2. This tire feeds the all-season sport needs of those with sport coupes and performance sedans looking to combine on-road performance with all-season traction in dry, wet and wintry conditions. Unique to Hankook, their Kontrol Technology, along with other innovations, is designed into the tire to ensure controlled driving experiences. The "K" denotes "kinetic" to reflect the interaction of the tire with the road lies at the heart of driving control. Kontrol Technology provides a range of benefits across four areas that drivers identify as key when choosing quality tires: performance, safety, comfort and environmental impact.

The tire also employs a hybrid silica compound technology that combines wet road traction with lower rolling resistance and longer treadlife. This compound is molded into a sophisticated semi-rib asymmetric tread design that features notched outboard shoulders, intermediate and center ribs to deliver responsive handling and stable cornering in dry conditions.

Take a look at what some of our customers are saying about their experience with the Ventus S1 noble2:

"Ever since I got these tires I have been so glad that I got them. The tires I had before were the O.E. and they were supposedly the best on the market, but I tell you what, Hankook tires are so much better -- they should be the ones put on new cars." - Tire Rack Consumer Review, 2013 Ford Focus 5-Door Titanium

"Just put these tires on a week ago so I haven't tried them on wet or snow-covered roads, yet. As soon as I pulled away from the install shop, I noticed a huge difference in noise and feel. Granted my old tires were just about shot, but these new Hankooks on my 7 Series are AWESOME! The ride feels and sounds so much better than before, it was almost like driving a new car. I never knew a tire could make that much of a difference. Totally satisfied and didn't have to pay a fortune." - Tire Rack Consumer Review, 2004 BMW 745Li

I got these tires for my Maxima after having a premium brand with a premium price on the car for 40,000 miles or so. The Hankooks are quieter, smoother riding, much better in snow rain and ice, as a matter or fact I have been driving around with no trouble at all the last week watching others spin their wheels and get stuck.

As far as handling they felt a little squishy to me at first, but that may be the minimum tread on the tires I replaced vs. the full tread on the Hankooks. I have since explored cornering grip it is quite high with these tires. I am more pleased with these tires than any I have ever bought. Only question still outstanding is wear.

Noisy OEM tires that are fine in dry conditions but totally untrustworthy otherwise. They spin on wet pavement starts. I don't feel like I will be able to go into this winter with these tires. They have very little traction in light snow. I live in a hilly area and feel like I am at risk on these roads with these tires in winter conditions.

I have babied these tires but they have not worn well for 14500 miles. They look like tires with much much more wear on them. The manufacter's warranty has no value. They will only prorate the tires toward another set of Hankooks. I guess this is typical but why would I want another set of these tires?

Previously ran Cooper CS4 Touring on my Mazda, these are almost as comfortable and quiet as those tires but with a noticeable upgrade in the handling department, both dry and wet. Have not been able to max out the car/tire combos capabilities, but feel confident to push them hard in daily driving.

Compared to OEM Michelin MXM4, sidewall is softer on the Hankooks, giving greater comfort with slightly less response to steering inputs. Handling limits are much higher than the Michelin's though. Worlds quieter also.

The Ventus V12 Evo's seem more like a Grand Touring tire in general use, but easily kicks up its game in hard driving. Drives best over asphalt; if you drive a lot of concrete, try to test before buying - my Mazda likes to dodge around a lot more on some concrete highways (not all), but asphalt is smooth and very quiet.

I Just replaced a set of Pirelli's with these and am very happy. Quiet ride, sure footed and smooth. Have been in some rain and they performed well. Slight hydroplane, but not bad. I am a sales rep driving 35K a year, so I'm in the car a lot. Tires / wheels are important to me! These are my Summer set up to switch out from Blizzak's in the winter. If these give me decent wear, I will be very happy with them. I would recommend them.

Bought these tyres about 4 years ago and loved every minute. With close to 55000 miles on them and approx another 15000 to go i HIGHLY recommend the H727's. Grip is good across the range and considering they are all season tyres, they are outstanding in snowy conditions! Definitely one of the best performing tyres i have ever owned on ANY vehicle.

Best tires I ever owned. I check the inflation on my tires every week, rotate them at every oil change and have my alignment checked once a year. I could easily get another 3,000 miles out of them if I wanted, but the tread is down to the wear bars. My only problem is nobody carries them so I have to special order. Worth the wait. The stock Goodyear tires only last 28,000 miles.

March 29, 2014

The G-MAX was my third set of tires on this car. 35000 miles seems to be about the maximum amount mileage I can get out of a set of tires with this car. I keep it aligned and watch tire pressure closely but, I cannot rotate the tires due to the different size tires and offset of the OEM wheels. For all around performance, the G-MAX was better than the OEM Bridgestones and the second set Kumho LX, which performed well except on ice and deep snow. However, there is a reason why I only got 27,000 miles instead of 35,000+ with the G-max. I had to replace them because I couldn't stand the noise anymore. The first 5000 miles were fine but after that it sounded like I was running mud tires. Handling on dry, wet, snow and ice were fine. Treadwear good and even. Noise was awful. My radio only goes up to 10. VanHalen called me and ask me to quit playing their music so loud. Now trying the Hankook Ventus and Eddie hasn't called once. I'll report back in 20,000 miles. BTW,Tire Rack rocks. Working on about my 10th set of tires with different vehicles from them.

Initial Review, 3,000 Miles on Tires
March 26, 2014

Wow. Fantastic. Expectations met and then some. I upgrade from Hankook Ventus V12's and even though these tires are in the same class, the PSS is a revelation. The PSS were a little noisier than I thought they'd be when I first got them, but the noise is of a different quality, lower frequency but not boomy, so it is not an issue. Compared to the V12's, the PSS feel like suction cups going down the road; my car has never felt this planted before. I first put them on the day before I went down to Tail of the Dragon, so they were immediately pushed to their limits. At the limit, they do not squeal; the V12's squealed quite a bit even when they had grip in reserve. Grip was noticeably increased in all situations. I even ran them in a torrential downpour the 4th day I had them; never felt a loss of grip once in heavy rain. Even the reduction in feedback from the wheel during the rain was noticeably less than the loss of feel for the Ventus V12's. These tires are multi-talented wonders. They ride more comfortably, although that could be related to running slightly lower pressures than I ran on my V12's.

The only gripes I have is that for my particular setup, steering response seems dulled. I am going to try slightly higher tire pressures this summer to see if that can remedy that without reducing ride quality or the incredibly planted feel they gave. Also, grip is noticeably less, although still very progressive, when the temperatures head south. Compared to the V12's, grip falls off quicker below 50 degrees. A shame because Michigan can bounce between 30 degree mornings and 60 degree days in the spring and fall. But overall, these are excellent tires I would recommend to anyone wanting to run a summer tire, regardless of price, which is also not bad for a Michelin. This feels like a pinnacle product, I can't wait to see where they go next!

I bought this set after reading reviews online and was more geared towards reliability. After getting them installed, I could tell right away how much quieter, responsiveness, and clean (with a notable brand name) looking this set is. I haven't put that much time on these tires and the weather here in KS is pretty unpredictable. I will always have backup tools and stuff for crazy snow/ice days but just to make it home with these tires will boost my confidence. I will re-evaluate again after having some time behind the wheel and going to places where I can really get on them without fear of slipping on ice/snow. It's like driving a new car almost since the tread noise has made it really quiet.

March 08, 2014

I purchased these Hankook tires based upon the TireRack customer reviews and the TireRack video test summary. I found these tires to be excellent in the short 500 miles for which I have driven on them. The Mid-Atlantic’s unpredictable winter weather have proven to be simply a test for these Hankook tires for which they have passed, graciously. In this week’s time I have driven on dry, wet, snow and ice covered streets and felt confident the entire way. The comfort and quietness was very noticeable over the Dunlop’s these replaced, so quiet I easily find myself exceeding the speed I believe I am traveling. On dry pavement these tires have given positive feedback, track and stick in the turns, and they have been stable to 110mph. I am thoroughly enjoying these Hankook Ventus S1’s and look forward to updating my review after a few thousand more miles.

I got these tires installed on my 2008 scion tc just a couple days ago so although I cant comment on all performance categories I will do my best now and update in the future.

These tires are fantastic so far. Low road noise if any and very smooth ride. Good Handling..

Before I had these installed I had yokohama tires on the rear which came with the car when i bought it and lasted me about 50,000 miles and still had some meat on them(but are now discontinued) and in the front I had crappy kuhmos which had treadwear that went faster then I can blink. Anyways I was hearing some noise coming from the front end after hitting a pot hole and decided to change all the tires since nobody can tell me where the noise was coming from. Luckily it was the just my old tires and nothing more serious. Now with this new set of hankooks I feel like I am driving on the clouds. Very happy so far and will buy in the future.
