Initial Review, 10,000 Miles on Tires
April 03, 2013

These came stock on the 19" x 8.5" rims of my 2011 Mustang GT. I drive 6-speed with 3.55 gears, so the rear tires get a bit more shock treatment than that of an automatic.

Brand new, the tires are great. You almost can't get them to break traction short of turning the traction control off and dumping the cluth after reving up to red line. But after doing that a few times, you will find the traction/stickiness of the tire will have depleted.

They are still good all-around tires, but after a few months of driving, they lose their launch traction.

I have already replaced two sets (four tires total) in the two years that I have had the car and am about to replace another set on the rear. That would mean that about every 10,000-13,000 miles, they need replaced. The tread is not down to the cords or anything, but you can feel a major difference in the performance at the 10k wear point.

Road noise is pretty minimal for a low-profile tire and the ride is comfortable as the suspension on the GT with these tires rides very well. There seems to be a bit of roll/softness in cornering, but if you know your car well enough, you know what you can and can't do and the tires stay fairly firm. I will buy them again for all year tires, but I will probably switch to something stickier for Summer track action on street tires.

Amazing Snow and Ice performance out of these OE tires on my '13 Mustang GT. I had a CTS prior to this that I had equipped with Continental DWS high Performance All Season. The Caddy had to be parked if 2 snowflakes fell. I can drive the Mustang GT equipped with thes P Zeros all day in any weather (including light to medium SNOW) !

Initial Review, 18,000 Miles on Tires
March 04, 2013

After having really good luck with a set of General's Altimax HP on my Pontiac Grand Prix, I decided to try their GMAX AS3's on my Pontiac G8 GT. I cant tell you how disappointed I am with this tire. NOISE! I have full exhaust from the manifolds back and while crusing down the highway at 70-75 the tires were as loud as the exhaust note. Treadware was disgusting.(Now in the interest of full disclosure I only rotated the tires twice in 18k miles) I think the warranty on the tire was 40k? and all I got was a shade over 18k. I just replaced them with a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus' and when I looked the tires over after they have been dismounted, you can see the belts had shifted which explained the noise and the pulling to one side. I will say however that the tires had excellent wet traction/handling and better than average dry traction/handling. Overall im very disappointed in my experience with these tires and I guess the cliche "you get what you pay for" rings true here.

Initial Review, 50 Miles on Tires
June 26, 2012

Just got this installed yesterday. Thanks Tirerack for quick shipping! Coming from Goodyear Eagle GT in 235/40/18 with 21k miles, these Kumho's are a little quieter and seems to be softer riding (softer sidewall maybe?)
Can't really speak to their handling as I've only put about 50 miles on it.

One thing I noticed is the lack of a rim guard on the Kumho. On the Goodyear, there is a thick piece of hard rubber sticking out near where the tire meets the rim, this is suppose to protect the rim from curb damage. and it has done a pretty good job over the last 3 years keeping my wheels in good shape. With the kumho, it doesn't have that rubber rim guard, so the rim now stick out a little where it meets the rubber. I'm going to have to be super careful when I park now, or expect lots of scratches to the 18" rims.

Overall, on the first day, they aren't too different from the Goodyear Eagle Gt's. I wasn't displeased with the goodyear, and would have continued to use them if it weren't for a nail near the sidewall. They lasted me 21k and still had around 4/32" to 5/32" tread left, so I expected to get around 30k miles out of that set.
Hope the Kumho's will last 30k, they do feel a bit softer (ride wise) so maybe its a softer rubber compound.

Initial Review, 500 Miles on Tires
November 12, 2011

Amazing. Smooth. Cool. Easy to drive. Those are the thoughts about this tire. I replaced my factory Bridgestone Potenza's with the Michelin. I love the performance of my car but felt a bit of understear with the Potenza's. This tire tracks beautifully through turns. Its precise but smooth like butter in every area. The car glides but preserves a feel for the road. When I read the TR review I was impressed. Now that I have driven on it for a few weeks I'm blown away. Never knew a tire could make this much difference. And with 360 horses in the G8 GT I get to experience it. At 100 MPH+ the car loved this tire and I had a big smile on my face. Two huge thumbs up.
