Initial Review, 13,000 Miles on Tires
February 17, 2014

This tire came as original equipment on my Jeep. I've owned the Jeep for 8 months now and I've waited to do a review. I live in Tacoma, WA. We get lots of rain and varying degrees of snow every year.

I can say that I had some doubts about the OEM tires when I first bought the vehicle. After driving through a few Winter snow storms I can tell you that these are excellent all-around tires. My Jeep is 4WD, so that does help in the snow. The tires have proven to do just fine in the snow, and mild off roading on muddy logging roads in the mountains, gravel roads, etc. I'm not going to go through the hassle and expense of separate snow wheels and tires. These tires do just fine by themselves.

The highway ride is really good and comfortable. Tire are nearly silent when the pavement is smooth. My vehicle wanders slightly at highway speed, but I don't think that is related to the tires. That could be the electro-hydraulic steering, or the alignment could be off slightly. Or it could be that the vehicle naturally follows the "ruts" in the road.

In the rain, I've never experienced any sliding or hydroplaning at speeds up to 70 mph with visible standing water on the road surface. Rain traction is excellent.

After 13k miles, the tires still look nearly new with no obvious signs of wear.

Overall, I'd rate this tire a 9.5 out of 10. It represents excellent value for the 265/50/20 tire size. This tire has had some very negative reviews and I'm not really sure why people are so critical of it. One guy gave it bad ratings for getting flats (???). It's not the tire's fault if you drive over something sharp! For about $134 per tire, I don't think you can go wrong.

I will most likely buy these tires again when it comes time to replace them.

My first ever set of snow tires, I've lived in Michigan my entire life and always thought snow was something you just learned to drive in, tires were less important than your ability to handle conditions. I was wrong, this was the year to learn this lesson, I haven't seen the pavement on my road since December 18th, it snowed 3 more inches this morning, March 1st. These inexpensive tires have turned my old T-bird into a winter driving wonder, I haven't had this much snow fun since I was a teen. Snow tires don't just let you go in the snow, you can turn and stop also. Experimentinig in places I know to always be slippery, I could slamm on the brakes and it just stopped, Ican't say it's like driving on dry pavement but it sure is confidence inspiring. It makes winter driving feel safer. I will never go a winter without again.

Follow up from my last post. Great tires. Light snow traction is actually good. Suprised actually. As all my other "all-season" ultra high performance tires weren't that great in snow except the Continental DWS. These are like them in the snow and much better than them in the corners.

HEAVY SNOWS THIS YEAR IN NEW ENGLAND 2013 AND WOULD VENTURE ANYWHERE WITH THESE TIRES.I THOUGHT FIRESTONE WINTERFORCE TIRES I BOUGHT FOR MY AWD V8 MOUNTAINEER LAST YEAR WERE EXCELLENT BUT MY V8 EXPLORER SEEMS TO HAVE A LEG UP WITH THE GOODYEAR SNOW & ICE WRT'S. TWO FOOT SNOW DRIFTS IN 4WD HIGH AND 6-8 INCHES OF UNCLEARED SNOW OR ICE WILL NOT STOP VEHICLE. I HAVE YET TO USE 4WD LOW AT ALL FOR THE 2014 WINTER. YOU HAVE TO DRIVE ON THEM TO BELIEVE IT FOR YOURSELF!

These are outstanding tires that I would highly recommend for so owners. Although these are not winter tires they performed flawlessly when traveling in a wicked snow storm, even passing stuck salt trucks on terrible roads. Much quieter than OE Michelin tires. Wet traction, snow, dry are also much improved. Can't comment on wear but they are outstanding tires WAY better than OE set that only lasted for 13000 miles and were down to 2/32 tread depth. I loved the look on peoples faces as they struggled with there 4wd vehicles to get around in snow as I pass them! Must have for northeast winters if all you want to run is all season tires.

So I drive for work, and have put about 10k miles on these tires so far. I have done no less than seven 100 mile+ trips through snow storms so far with these tires and am thoroughly impressed. My car is very light (235 width) and a light 1.6L Ecoboost motor. My car handles tenfold better than it did with the stock Michelin energy. The only thing i'd say is you can feel more road imperfections over the stock Michelins. But, I've had no vibrations at all with these tires even when it was neg 9 here. Dry traction and cornering is fantastic! Wet traction is great. Snow and Ice traction is impressive, even during braking. Take off isn't the best, but that's more due to the vehicle itself. Going between 40-50 on the highway with DEEP snow is what impresses me the most with these tires. They're no snow tire, but I would recommend them to anyone who has to deal with all four seasons. So far the tread is down to 9/32. It looks like I will get 40-50k miles on these tires

So glad to get rid of the OEM Goodyears. These tires are have a low noise level and ride is excellant for a RFT. Driving in the rain is not a mission. Wide tires tend to get on top of the water but the Bridgestones keep traction. Only 2,000 miles on them but wear looks good.

February 08, 2014

So I just bought this car and I needed winter tires badly, and I had them studded for extra peace of mind when I came here to tire rack and bought a winter tire package with steel wheels as these are just for winter and don't need fancy wheels covered in snow and crap all winter. I installed these very recently and first impression were good from the looks in person. I took them for a drive as soon as I installed them with our roads being completely covered in packed snow on plowed roads and 4-7 inches of powder on unplowed roads. We have recently received 18 inches of snow in the last 3 days and these tires take it all on without issue. The only time I had to slow down was when the front bumper was hitting the fresh powder on the roads (6 inches deep powder) and was blowing up and covering my windshield and I couldn't see. I stopped several times on snow covered hills and my car just walked op the hill without issue. Being located in Watertown, NY we get a lot of lake effect snow and it can hit at a moments notice and I spent the most part of my day testing theses tires out. Stopping was easily done as long as you don't just mash on the brakes as to be expected with any tire the ABS kicked in but still stopped controllably. Deep snow wasn't an issue, some icy roads are easily manageable, packed snow covered roads were a cinch and I really enjoyed driving in the fowl weather with these tires. No white knuckles for this guy just ease of travel as I was back to feeling safe and confident behind the wheel with these shoes on the car. Now my car has quite a bit of torque for a Front Wheel Drive vehicle that I was concerned about but the traction control worked well and the tires gripped well. These tires were cheapest offered for my car and I was skeptical as I usually go for blizzaks but these I think perform at the same level easily. I would buy these again without worry and knowing they are lower priced than the other competitors just made it easy to choose

I replaced Goodyear Wranglers O.E.M. that had 21,000 miles and couldn't believe the difference. I have since put 55,000 on these Bridgestone and am in the process of looking to replace them. I believe they are rated for 50,000 miles and since it's not my daily driver anymore I've waited and pushed them through the winter. I'm looking at Michelins that are rated to get 70,000. Only because rating difference and I recently bought a set of Michelins for my car and I'm extremely impressed with them.

I was torn between these tires and and the Firestone Winterforce. I had the Winterforce tires on another vehicle of mine which was a Buick Lesabre the Winterforce made my Lesabre a tank in the snow I always felt safe and in control in any winter driving condition but the tires had to be switched out after winter. I wanted a winter tire that had some all season characteristics so I took a chance on these Goodyears and was immediately impressed they were quieter than the BF Goodrich tire that I had just taken off the car the sidewall is softer than an all-season tire but that is to be expected. I previously had Michelin's winter ice tires on this car for twice the cost the only thing I can say that was better about the Michelins they had a stiffer sidewall. These Goodyear tires so far have more then met my expectations. We have been hammered with lots of snow and sub zero temps in Minnesota this year and the Goodyears have performed flawlessly. I can't recommend these tires enough!

I have 18,000 miles on my Sonic LT with the 1.4 turbo and a six speed manual. Fun little car that gets well over 30 mpg around town. The car came with Hankook Optimo tires. The Hankooks were the worst tire I have ever had on any car. It was down right scary to drive in the snow. I put these Eagle Sports on the car on Saturday, and its is like a completely different car in the snow. It's no longer scary to drive. These tires may even be better in the snow than the F1 all season I have on my G8 GT. Very happy with these tires. I see the traction control light come on a fraction of what I had been seeing, even on the wet roads. I will give an update once I drive in other conditions...but since I bought these tires because of issues with the snow, and they fixed that issue, I'm ecstatic!

I bought these tires for my optima last year and didn't want to review it until i had them a full year to see how they did when i put them back on for winter this year. We generally have around 6+ inches of snow on the ground in winter here and the tires performed wonderfully. I never was stuck once even when the snow around a foot+ it let my little car plow right through and should no signs of slippage. My car doesn't have traction control or abs so for these tires not to spin on ice and snow means there great winter tires. Also after having them on through winter last year and removing them in April and then re installing this year for winter the tires barely show any signs of wear even with 6,000 miles on them. I bought another set for my wife's kia soul and there also working wonderful and no shes not scared when she has to drive to work in the winter.

When I was looking at new tires everyone was pretty much in agreement that these were 'the' tires to get for a Jeep. And they were right. I have been extremely happy with them. Half of my daily drive is on gravel (roughly 16 miles) and it amazes me how well the tread has held up, as gravel just eats the tread off most tires.

I don't think that there is any additional road noise on the highway than the stock light truck tires my Jeep originally came with, which surprised me since these have a much more aggressive tread.

I'm getting ready to buy a new set for this coming winter and by then I should have close to 45,000 miles on these.

Bought a whole new set of these tires for my 02 maxima. I also bought a new set of stock wheels. this way everything would be new and i would have no issues. these tires are great and i have no complaints. they look great and do exactly whats needed. im not a speed demon. although i will get on the car sometimes, these tires give me no issues. great in water and snow (only light snow so far). ive read some reviews that say these tires are loud. but in my opinion they are not louder than any other tire ive ever had. the stock tire that comes with my car is around 285 bucks. thats insane. i used to have a set of goodyear eagle gt's. good tire as well but they cost almost 50 bucks more a piece. this tire is around 100 bucks and i think for that price you get a great deal. no slipping. good grip wet or dry. braking feels fine. if i have anything negative to report about in the future i will update.

I drive about 75 percent of my miles on the highway. But the 25% I drive off road will shred a regular tire in no time flat. I drive on caliche roads with various size rocks and sometimes huge holes. Most 6 and 8 ply tire i have tried over the years would only last about 20,000-22,000 miles. I put 55,000 on a set of Wrangler SilentArmor 6 ply tires and still had a good 8-10,000 miles left when I got a new truck. I never even had a flat even though I regularly would drive over cactus, mesquites and sharp rocks. As long as Goodyear keeps making these tires, they have a loyal customer.

I drive a 97 Grand Cherokee ZJ with 4" of lift and installed these tires in a 31x10.50x15 size. They've exceeded my expectations in every respect. They're quite for an aggressive tread pattern on the highway, handle well for the tread pattern in highway driving, and perform excellently off road. I primarily use my Jeep for off road use but it does drive upwards of 200 highway miles one way to different parks. I've also used it to travel to work when the weather is too bad to travel in my other vehicle. They handle very well in the snow, packed or deep, and even do well on ice. For a tire that's not a mud terrain tire, they do surprisingly well in the mud but I wouldn't say it's a replacement for a traditional mud terrain. I haven't had them in sand so I cannot comment on their sand capabilities. I only have about 5k miles on them so far but they seem to be wearing well and evenly, if they're even wearing at all yet. I'd recommend these to anyone looking for a good all around tire for a vehicle that sees a multitude of uses. I'll most definitely be purchasing another set when the time comes.
