Initial Review, 13,000 Miles on Tires
February 17, 2014

This tire came as original equipment on my Jeep. I've owned the Jeep for 8 months now and I've waited to do a review. I live in Tacoma, WA. We get lots of rain and varying degrees of snow every year.

I can say that I had some doubts about the OEM tires when I first bought the vehicle. After driving through a few Winter snow storms I can tell you that these are excellent all-around tires. My Jeep is 4WD, so that does help in the snow. The tires have proven to do just fine in the snow, and mild off roading on muddy logging roads in the mountains, gravel roads, etc. I'm not going to go through the hassle and expense of separate snow wheels and tires. These tires do just fine by themselves.

The highway ride is really good and comfortable. Tire are nearly silent when the pavement is smooth. My vehicle wanders slightly at highway speed, but I don't think that is related to the tires. That could be the electro-hydraulic steering, or the alignment could be off slightly. Or it could be that the vehicle naturally follows the "ruts" in the road.

In the rain, I've never experienced any sliding or hydroplaning at speeds up to 70 mph with visible standing water on the road surface. Rain traction is excellent.

After 13k miles, the tires still look nearly new with no obvious signs of wear.

Overall, I'd rate this tire a 9.5 out of 10. It represents excellent value for the 265/50/20 tire size. This tire has had some very negative reviews and I'm not really sure why people are so critical of it. One guy gave it bad ratings for getting flats (???). It's not the tire's fault if you drive over something sharp! For about $134 per tire, I don't think you can go wrong.

I will most likely buy these tires again when it comes time to replace them.

Put a set of these on my 1999 Tahoe at 125,620 miles after only getting about 60,000 miles out of a set of Goodyear Forteras. Dealer told me I would not regret it. I just turned 229,485 on my Tahoe and there is STILL no end in sight for these tires. Tires rotated every 6K min, sometimes every oil change. That is the key. Not sure when these are going to wear out. Excellent wet/dry traction, Very Good but not great in the snow. If you want a tire for your truck or SUV that you want to get 100K out of, this is your tire. Well worth the money. Rotate them frequently and they will take care of you.

I live in western North Dakota and these Goodyears are the worst set of tires I've ever had the misfortune of owning. I live on a gravel road and after 14,000 miles I've had 4 flats and had to replace two tires. Should've opted for the off-road tires at vehicle purchase time. Will be getting 10 ply-rated tires shortly. These tires are for paved roads that are in good condition only. On the highway the tires are extremely smooth and silent. Off-road and in snow and ice they are horrible.

OEM tires on my 2008 Jeep Commander. Just replaced today (April 16, 2013) with another set of Forteras after I got 72,400 (yes, SEVENTY-TWO THOUSAND!) miles out of the OEM tires. The fronts STILL had 5-10k left on them. Never rotated them, either. Every tire should perform like the Fortera HL. Simply stellar.

O.E. tires on my 2013 F150 275/65/18. Tires are not good at all. Sidewall flex, poor snow traction, very poor ice traction. Have to use 4wd in situations I shouldn't. Ford has a habbit of putting tires on their vehicles that don't fit the vehicle. All the O.E. tires are poor for the vehicles they put them on. Will be replacing these tires and wheels with 305/45/22 Fortera SL and selling the O.E. setup very soon.

Initial Review, 40,000 Miles on Tires

These tires came new with the vehicle from the factory. They were rotated according to Honda's schedule but one of them developed uneven wear at the center. The center has worn down to 3/32" for the bad tire, while the other 3 tires have 4/32" left.

Hydroplane performance could be better during a recent rain storm, but they only had 4/32" left so I cannot complain. Treadwear is unsatisfactory because Goodyear rates them for 60k, but at 40k they only have 3-4/32" left. Noisy as well since about 25k miles, so much that it sounded like wheel bearing failure and I took it to the dealership. Rode with a Honda tech and his diagnosis was tire noise, and I trusted his words because I had dealt with him a couple of times.

At this point, I am waiting for rebate deals and am probably going to give Michelin Latitude Tour a try next.

I am adding this to a previous review. This tire has design inputs from F1 racing rain tires. More than one other tire company mas come out with a design that is as close to the TTT Goodyear tire as they dare. Around here state troopers probaly ride on these tires more than any other tire. When the time comes for new tires for the Tahoe or Silverado we will buy the Goodyear Assurance Triple Treds since this tire has been discontinued and replaced by the above tire.

Tires gave me a lot of problems from day 1 when I bought the car. There was impossible to drive this car on highways with speeds 70 mph and up ** 350 miles on it , these tires were putting my Durango in so much vibrations that I had a feeling that car is going to faul apart ** dealer could not replaced them for any other brand so he was just trying balanced them. After balancing all set 5 times ( 3000 miles on tires) let say he finally did it I decided to keep them on but I am not driving faster then 80mph on highways. Overall it is decent tire , good handling and braking in 6" of snow, good wet traction, good dry traction. Over 25000 miles on this set and lots of tread left but I am sorry Goodyear I can not wait to switch to Michelins or Continentals.

I purchased these to replace the OEM Goodyear Integra, which were average but slippery. I had hydroplaning issues with those and slid on acceleration from stops on wet pavement. However, these Fortera TripleTreds are AWESOME. I need a good all-weather tire for my Pilot that I could use in bad weather at high speed on the German autobahn. I put them on in October and have gone through the fall and winter with them happily. They provide outstanding traction and stability in all conditions. I first noticed that they didn't slip on wet leaves or paint stripes when driving in town in the fall. I have since riven them in heavy rain, ice, and snow in town and at over 105 MPH on the autobahn. They perform perfectly at all speeds and vehicle weights and give me total confidence. They brake well, corner well even when loaded, and they are sure-footed cat's paws even on ice and snow. Sure, every tire will slide some if you turn sharply on glazed ice or brake suddenly on black ice; but these grip better than anything I've ever driven, on any vehicle. I trust my family's safety with them even at very high speed. I have also done anti-terrorist performance driving training. These TripleTred tires are what I want on my vehicle for max performance that could literally save my family's life. Even with shipping, they were cheaper to buy from Tire Rack and ship to a military APO than to buy autobahn-capable SUV tires in Germany. I will definitely buy them again.

Initial Review, 100 Miles on Tires
February 04, 2013

We have a 2011 Honda Pilot LX 2WD. We bought these in 245/65R17 to replace the awful factory Goodyear Fortera HL in the same size. The ride is great and they are also extremely quiet. All we can hear now is wind and engine noise, instead of the groaning Fotera HL tires!

We bought these tires despite modest reviews for 03-08 Pilot application. The reason is that 03-08 Pilots' application is 235/70R16, and the Latitude Tour in that size is a Ford factory spec tire, with ~15% less initial tread depth (11/32" vs 12.5/32"). The Ford spec tires in 235/70R16 also lacks Michelin's "Green X" eco feature. We believe this is why Consumer Reports rates these tires much better than the reviews at tirerack.com would indicate.

We will update again once we put 10k miles on them.

I have never had good luck with Goodyear tires. Due to the Buick having this size and the small amount of available choices, I went with the Triple Tred due to the reviews on TireRack. This tire came with my new car, i drive 80% highway 20% city at first 38,000 miles traction were reasonably good when raining no complain, but shortly there after its wet traction is getting worst and worst. I now live in southern states so i don't have snow to worry about, but if i were still live in Chicago,IL i would have replace these tires already. If they can't give me good traction when wet its definitely not going to make it through snows. I will try to stretch another 6,500 miles out of it and reach 50,000 miles before i will get another set of tires. Next set would probably be the Continental Cross Contact LX20 or the Goodyear Assurance CS Triple Tred depending on which set is on sale.

I bought these tires for my 05 Buick Rainier when I found out BFG no longer made the tires I wanted. I was a little hesitant because these things look meaty and was afraid how the car would look, well it looks a little more aggressive now. We replaced a set of Goodyear Fortera tires with these, the Goodyear tires are junk, ok wet traction and IMO horrible snow/winter traction. When we first bought the Buick it had the Goodyear tires on it and I was almost fearful to drive it in the snow even with AWD. When we got the BFG's I noticed an immediate difference when leaving the tire place on a rainy day, they just hooked up, mat the gas and go, no slippage. Samething on dry pavement. Now onto winter driving, before the Buick was as a straight line machine, meaning it was great in a straight line at constant or slowly changing speeding, anything else required a prayer and your first born to get out of without requiring a change of drawers. It was often more preferable to drive the old beat up pickup with no heat on snowy days then take the Buick. Now its a dream, like all winter driving it still requires care but its solid on the road, hooks up in slush, light snow and deep snow without issue, it sheds snow and slush nicely too. These tires give a great deal of confidence in the snow, ice and winter driving. Now onto mud and off road, I have had it out deer hunting a few times through mud, clay, sand and over logs and rocks; again a measure of common sense and its good to go, not issues. My only complaint is that they gouged my gas mileage a hair and they are noisy between 30 and 40 miles an hour; not so noisy that passengers notice but I do. They also stiffened up the ride a little, which depending on what you want may be a positive, I don't mind it and I still get comments to the tone of "...this thing rides nice..." Short and sweet, short of horrible tread life we will be buying these again.

Our Traverse is AWD and these are the tires that it came equiped with from the factory. We use the our Traverse to haul hay and feed on a flat trailer for the farm, to use on the sandy beaches of the Outer-Banks on vacation and delivery of farm products to Local Roots (indoor farm co-op market). The tires at 28,000 miles appear that they will last at least until 60,000 miles and they offer incredible traction in the sand of the OBX beaches, to soft hay fields, to highway Winter driving to hockey rinks all over Cleveland, Ohio. From what I can tell from other Traverse owners that have taken a chance on Cooper and Continental tire replacements, the Goodyear is twice the tire and worth the extra money.

These tires came from the factory on my 2008 Explorer. I work in the construction industry as a project manager. Between the many miles of commuting and driving on job sites I have been able to put these tires through the ringer. The dry traction is great. Wet traction is great. I drive on job sites after rain showers and have never had a problem getting stuck. This both with and without 4WD being engaged. I've been in mud and ruts that were deep enough to bottom out my vehicle. I can't complain about these tires. They have served their purpose and I have almost 75,000 miles on my vehicle.

There is a little bit of tire noise, but that is common for this type of tire. It is not louder than any other set of tires I have had on my previous SUV's. I would recommend these tires.

Michelins LTX M/S replaced the Goodyear Fortera Triple Treads that had only 8K miles on them. The Michelins are "as advertised" from reviews on the online tire review websites and tire installer website reviews. This tire is an "all around" excellent tire. Queit, handles well, basically does everything well. No snow experience to report, mainly highway. Owners with large SUVs said they are having great results from these tires even though the tire technology is aging. If it works then no reason to change it. After two sets of Goodyear TTs these tires I can live with. You wont be disappointed.
