Need New Lugs with Your Wheel Purchase? Tire Rack Knows!

Monday, March 5, 2012 by Gavin Carpenter

Tire Rack carries a large variety of aftermarket wheels for many vehicles. While some are designed to reuse your current wheel's stock lug nuts or bolts, other options will require something different if the new wheel's lug seat type is different. Also, you'll need new lug nuts or bolts if the hole in the face of the wheel needs tuner style lugs or if the center cap requires a shorter lug.

When ordering, if an aftermarket lug is needed, your invoice will indicate the quantity, size, seat design, length and size of wrench needed. In some cases, we'll be able to supply a different socket if your Original Equipment wrench will not work. For more information on using the correct lug nuts with your wheels, read "Proper Lug Nuts or Lug Bolts."

Take a look at our Upgrade Garage to see how different wheel styles will look on your vehicle.

I have a stock 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP. I would like to replace the stock plastic covered lugs with some nice stainless steel lugs. What will fit?
Monday, June 11, 2012 by Gavin:
You will need a 14x1.5 nut with a 22mm head. At this time, Tire Rack does not carry an original equipment replacement.

I have a 2012 tahoe and purchased chrome wheels #5222 17x 7.5
What size chrome lugs do I need?
Friday, October 26, 2012 by Gavin:
You will need a 14x1.5 nut. I am not familiar with that particular wheel. Is this an original equipment or aftermarket wheel.
Friday, October 26, 2012 by Mike:
It is a Yukon Wheel. I have the stock #5299 17x7.5 on it now.
Friday, October 26, 2012 by Gavin:
I do not have the stock GM lugs for that wheel. The lugs I that I do have that will work will require a different socket. Send me an email at gavin@tirerack.com to go over the details.

Need some replacement lugs for a 2007 GTI 2 Door. I am placing an order for a winter tire and rim package and want these included with the order if possible.
Friday, November 2, 2012 by Gavin:
Louie B:
It really depends on the package. If the original equipment bolts don't fit, the package will come with lug bolts automatically.
Friday, November 2, 2012 by Louie B.:
Gavin:
Package says that OE will work but I would like to have a set that is not going to get all corroded this winter and will pay extra for them.
Friday, November 2, 2012 by Gavin:
Give me a call Louie when you're ready to put the order through, and when I set the order up I will add the extra lugs. My number is 800-428-8355 ext: 4693.

I just bought Breyton 19' wheels for Mercedes clk 350 but when firestone tried to put them on they were lose even with the standard clk lug fully screwed in. Firestone said i need custom wheel lugs. Can you please tell me which wheel lugs would fit?
Tuesday, November 6, 2012 by Gavin:
Usually Breyton wheels are exclusive fitments only available to BMW/ Mini and some Porsche vehicles. Your wheels will not have the correct bolt pattern as well.
Thursday, November 8, 2012 by Di:
hi
my car stock wheels are bmw style 156 (16" 7diameter offset 31). I plan on buying an extra set of oem wheels for a winter tire setup. The wheels I came across are of a different style and with a slight difference in offset, bmw style 282 (16" 7 diameter offset 34).

Can you advise if the 3mm difference in wheel offset will present a problem?
If its not a problem, do i need different bolts/lugs for the winter setup or can i use the ones taken off from my stock style 156?
Thanks!
Friday, November 9, 2012 by Gavin:
A 3mm offset difference isn't huge. I don't foresee a problem, but I do not have the fitment information available on the BMW original equipment wheels to make any guarantees.

The offset of the wheel may not determine the length of the bolt you need. The depth of the cut of the lug ports in the may be a little deeper in the 31mm offset wheel.

Just make sure that you get at least 6.5 turns of engagement on your lugs, and that the seat of the lugs match up with the seats in the wheel.

Hi;

I have OZ Ultraleggera wheels on a Lexus IS300. I am trying to find locking lug nuts for this wheel. My invoice says "NC 12 X 1.5 34UL 35TL 21H CLSD" for the lug nut type sent with my wheels. I cannot discern what seat design these are. Conical/Tapered or Ball/Radius. Please advise.

Thanks
Monday, December 10, 2012 by Gavin:
Thanks for the question Joe. I do carry a wheel lock set for this application. I however do not have them listed on my website. Send me an email or give me a call to go over the details. 800-428-8355 ext:4693 or gavin@tirerack.com.

What is the size of the lug nuts for a 2006 Mazda3? 2.3L, if that makes any difference.
Tuesday, December 11, 2012 by Gavin:
Are you looking for original equipment lugs Chris? Or, are you looking for lugs that will work with an aftermarket wheel?
Wednesday, December 12, 2012 by Chris:
Might as well do both. I have the stock 5-spoke 16" wheels and plan on eventually getting the 17" Enkei EDR9's
Wednesday, December 12, 2012 by Kevin Tran:
What is the size of the lug nuts for 2013 Mercedes Benz ML350? I need to buy a rim lock but don't know the size. Please let me know.
Wednesday, December 12, 2012 by Gavin:
Good to hear from you Kevin. Is this for the original equipment wheels or aftermarket wheels? Email me with your details at gavin@tirerack.com.
Wednesday, December 12, 2012 by Gavin:
Chris. When you purchase the EDR9's through us, they will come with the wheels at no-charge. I have lugs that would work with the stock wheels. Email me at gavin@tirerack.com or call me at 800-428-8355 ext 4639 to go over the details.

I just purchased a set of black Cup4 wheels for my 2008 Porsche 911 C4S and forgot to ask if you carry black lug nuts for this wheel. Please advise on type and cost.
Monday, December 17, 2012 by Gavin:
Thanks for the follow-up question Bill. The Cup4 wheels are designed to reuse the original equipment lugs. I do not stock the OE hardware. You should be able to find some at your Porsche dealer.

I recently bought 4 wheels (Motegi Racing FF7 MR2371 Gun Metal (16x7"/5x100mm) ) for a 2005 Pontiac Vibe. Turns out the OEM lug nuts will not work. How do I find lug nuts that fit?

Just bought a 2005 BMW X3 3.0 and all the lug nuts are rusty. Do you guys have replacements? I need a good excuse to visit your South Bend store again...
Monday, January 7, 2013 by Gavin:
Good to hear from you Vilma. If you are looking for stock lugs, a BMW dealership should have them for you. I'm afraid that I mainly carry lugs for the aftermarket wheels the Tire Rack carries.

I have an 05 MK4 GTI. I bought some 18" Motegi rims for it. Not sure if that matters but I'm just trying to find the lug nut size so I can order a different style. Is it 14x1.4 or 12x1.5 or something totally different?
Friday, March 1, 2013 by Mike:
I have a 05 Toyota Highlander. I bought some 18" Touren TR9 rims for it. I plan to buy the tires through Tirerack, but I need to buy the proper lug nuts for the rims. Do you have the proper lug nuts for it?
Friday, March 1, 2013 by Gavin:
That is not a wheel that we carry Mike. So, I don't have much information to go by. My first recommendation would be to check with a retailer that carries the wheel, since they may already know off hand what is needed to fit that wheel to your vehicle.

I have a 2013 Dart that I plan to put black aftermarket wheels on. The Dart uses 12mm x 1.25 lug bolts. Do you know anywhere I can get black lug bolts in this size or any suggestions on what to do! Thanks !
Wednesday, March 27, 2013 by Gavin:
Amanda, are you looking for lugs for an aftermarket wheel we carry or for an original equipment wheel. Some of our black finish wheels may have a black lug nut option that comes up under the "optional hardware" tab for the wheel.
If you are looking for something for your original equipment wheels you will more than likely have to source them from your Dodge dealer, or someone that carries Mopar parts.

I need lugs for OZ Ultraleggras that will go on a 2012 Golf R. With my limited research I think the following are the ones I need: 14x1.5 36mm R12 ball seat.

Do you carry lug nuts that would work for a 2004 Lexus LS430 with Enkei RS7 17x7's? I picked up a used set with snow tires for next season (although I could probably use them tomorrow according to the forecast here). Anyway, please let me know if you have these available. By the way, I am a repeat tire customer (multiple vehicles over the past five years...). Thanks for your help,

Will my 2011 tundra's steel wheel lug nuts work on alloy wheels or will I need new lugs?

Are either of the wheels an aftermarket wheel that you purchased through the Tire Rack John? If the seat type, as pictured above is identical for the wheels they may be interchangeable. If the wheels are original equipment Toyota, you may need to check with your local dealer.
