Initial Review, 10,000 Miles on Tires
October 27, 2011

After 10,000+ miles on my Saturn SL2 I am ready to leave an informed review:

My old tires were Fuzion HRi 195/60HR15, roughly the same price range. They lasted me 50,000 miles. I recorded 33.3mpg over 20,000 miles. The new tires are averaging 29.4mpg over 10,000 miles, no other changes to the car and the drop happened the tank after I switched.

What that means is that with these tires I have paid $160 more in gas so far than I would have with my old tires ($4/Gal). By the time I reach 50,000 miles I could have bought 2.5 extra sets of the other tires, which handled and rode significantly better.

Sorry Continental, you failed.

Friday, March 1, 2013 by Cy Chowattukunnel

By all accounts, the 2013 Ford Focus ST has been a universal hit. It goes fast, handles well and doesn't break the bank. Much of the current Focus' success is due to groundwork done by earlier models.

Looking for Affordable Tires?

Wednesday, February 20, 2013 by Ben Rooney

Here at Tire Rack, we built our business on higher performance tires for more exotic applications. The inventory expanded over the years as we also carry tires that are targeted toward regular cars used for everyday transportation, and tires for the enthusiast on a budget.

Fuzion, the entry level brand from Bridgestone, often has the best-priced tires in a given size. Though not as well known as its older siblings from Bridgestone and Firestone, Fuzion tires offer an excellent value. The Fuzion Touring is a smooth riding, all-season tire that's very aggressively priced, while the UHP is Fuzion's new Ultra High Performance All-Season tire designed for sporty handling combined with capability in cold weather and light snow.

Kumho has been a stalwart in the performance-per-dollar arena. Little known when they first came to the United States, they have built a loyal following over the past decade or so. Their Ecsta 4X is often my go-to selection for a value-oriented all-season performance tire. The Solus KR21 does consistently well in surveys among customers needing a regular all-season passenger tire.

Among light trucks and SUVs, the Yokohama Geolandar H/T-S G051 has an excellent combination of long treadwear, reliable performance and an excellent price. With each option fitting into most budgets, you're getting a great tire for your vehicle as each is currently ranked in the top ten in their class.

Just purchased tires last week 01/13. Placed on vehicle the next day. Immediately start hearing humming sound in vehicle like a bad wheel bearing. Did not hear this sound with OE tires just took off only had 8000 miles on them. Trip to Tennesee no noise on OE tires. Tires ride good, handle good, drive good but can do without hum sound in new vehicle.

Bought these tires for my wife's car after purchasing a set for my own. She doesn't normally talk about tires but she has raved about these. She says it makes the car feel solid and stable like it once did. Replaced Fuzion HR's with these. She has driven in icy, snowy and very rainy conditions since these were installed. Nice way to score points with the wife while ensuring her security and safety.

"These tires have proved exceptional. Dry weather cornering is outstanding and very predictable. The main revelation is in the wet where the Fuzion has completely cured the unstable understeer exhibited with my previous tires. The A6 2.7T Quattro is quick, but heavy. It had an unpredictable push on the previous tires, but now it is a joy in both the wet and dry." -- Tire Rack Consumer Review, 2004 Audi A6 2.7T (Fuzion ZRi)

"I really liked the look of this tire for the price. This is the best tire I have ever bought. As an outdoorsman, this tire has been off road for many hunting trips. This tire has outperformed any tire in any condition I have subjected it to. I am on your website today to purchase a new set!" -- Tire Rack Consumer Review, 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4x4 Regular Cab Long Box (Fuzion XTi)

These tires are great. I'm not going to say that they are amazing, but for money you spend they are great tires. So far driven about 1000 miles and no problems. No noise complaints or traction problems. Only problem I would say is that the sidewall is soft and they do have a bit of flex in the turns, but for a daily driver its fine.

These tires have been a fantastic upgrade from Fuzions I had. My driving is on twisty country roads and I can drive the S a good 5mph faster now, maybe 10mph. Turn-in is smooth and the car simply carves turns now (it was very good before). I don't look at wear as I am thrilled if I can get 3 summers out of a set (about 10,000 miles). I think if you're buying any tire in this class and expect long wear, you'll be disappointed. But, for carving the twisters these tires are great. (Note: these are the tires they use at the Mid-Ohio Performance School)

My previous set of tires were Fuzion HRi, and those were actually a pretty good tire for the $. That was my 3rd set across 2 cars. When I found them no longer available I was a little disappointed, but not after driving on these Kumhos. They give up a litle in launch performance to the Fuzions but that's probably the only place they do. Cornering ability is fantastic for a non-Max or Extreme-Performance tire. They're a little noisy but I have a radio. Wet weather traction is actually one of the big selling points and the data reports on the Tire Rack comparison tests show it having little fall-off on performance when the weather turns damp. My relatively limited experience so far (it's been dry this year) confirms that characteristic. I marked the wear as NA because I can't report on it yet. In a few more months I can make a judgement.

Initial Review, 1,300 Miles on Tires
August 27, 2012

Knew these were everything I hoped for before I got off the tire center parking lot and to the first traffic light down the main street. Had run Fuzion tires 47,000 mi in 3 yrs so everything the TIRERACK ratings said about these Serenity Plus tires was immediately evident---QUIET, SOFT, SMOOTH RUNNING, LOW RESISTANCE, allowing me to let off the gas way sooner than before when approaching any reason to decelerate or stop. Both my wife and I wear double hearing aids, so the lack of background tire noise has been a real blessing to us. The 1300 miles of this first month included 400 miles interstate TX to KS and back again. Have nothing but praise for the tires and, again, the reliability and accuracy of the TIRERACK evaluations.
Had previously twice selected tires based on TIRERACK evaluations after OE ones on new 1999 Mercury Cougar wore out at 37K. TIRERACK choice with wider tread gave me 87K off two sets of 40K tires and fantastic road gripping on curves and cornering.
Have only driven these new tires in dry and light to moderate rain conditions, thus the N/A ratings on hydroplaning and snow. Did find that on county gravel roads in KS I had to drive 5-10 mph slower than before, as the extra-deep (and softer?) tread really grabbed the crushed limestone and threw it up under the car. Son-in-law in his Suburban following me asked what happened that I cut back our usual speed and maintained the lower speed on the gravel portion. Gravel a very small portion of our driving, so still say these tires are the best, at 75K warranty and UTQG rating of 600. Thanks TIRERACK.

Good tire for the price. Once the tires were broke-in they have been very predictable. They handle, corner and ride very well in the wet. Good ride quailtiy on dry roads too but seems like a better wet weather tire. Don't use them in winter, not sure they would be real good with their tread pattern. Wear has been great! A fairly quite tire.
Strongly consider these tires.

I purchased the Fuzion tires in October 2010. The mileage on my car was 62,025. I couldn't ask for a better inexpensive tire. Great traction, low noise level and decent wear-n-tear... Now it's August 2012 and approx 45,000 miles later, my tires still have a decent amount of treadwear left. The ONLY reason I have to get a new set, I was too lazy and didnt failed to get a front end alignment. Since I didnt not have a proper alignment, it caused my tires (that were on the front) to become warped after traveling on the highway 120 miles to/from work. As for the other comments regarding noise level, I didnt experience tire noise until my front tires became warped. Now my minor $80 issue has become $485 issue to replace my tires!!!... Lesson learned--always get an alignment when needed! :)

New Fuzion Tires Offer Exceptional Value

Friday, August 17, 2012 by Steve Huffman

Fuzion tires are part of a division of Bridgestone/Firestone, so you know they're from a name you can trust.

Recently, they introduced their new line-up and so far they have received very positive reviews and feedback. The Fuzion Touring is a very nice Grand Touring All-Season tire that's offered with either a 55,000- or 40,000-mile treadlife warranty, depending on speed rating. There is bound to be one for your vehicle with 25 popular sizes available.

Fuzion's SUV is designed for light truck and SUV applications looking for traction in all seasons. It's offered with a 50,000-mile treadlife warranty. Featuring a fairly aggressive tread design, the tire not only has a good look but offers great traction as well.

Initial Review, 17,000 Miles on Tires
July 30, 2012

While on vacation, I unexpectedly bought these last summer to replace a set of Fuzion ZRi (they were on the car when I bought it). I was extremely limited in options because of the size and stock of all-season tires, and the Fuzions did not last nearly as long as I was hoping. With my first choice being Michelin, Toyo, or Bridgestone, I was hesitant to try (what I expected to be) an economy tire.

Initially, I was very impressed with how quiet they are, and how well they handle wet roads. When winter arrived, I was very pleased with how good traction was in the snow, while braking on uneven snow/ice-covered roads, and the cornering response in inclement conditions.

I wouldn't say that my driving is "spirited", but I don't like to waste fuel by slowing down more than absolutely necessary for corners and curves, which means that I do go much faster than most. In wet, cold, and snow, these tires are great, I am very pleased with them. The only place where I have noticed a lack of "awesome" is on highway curves, or corners in higher temperatures; it feels like the sidewalls buckle a little too much.

My driving has been about 2/3 highway, and 1/3 city, but a job change will cause the mileage to be transposed for the next few years, so it will be interesting to see if these last nearly as long as the tread-life warranty suggests. I rotate my tires every 4k-6k miles, and keep my suspension tuned properly.

I will probably buy them again, depending on what is available when I buy, and how long these last.
