Purchased in 2010 as certified used. Dunlops and Firestone tires were scary, screamy on turns, took for ever to stop, always kept skidding and thus my family was scared to drive/ride. These 4 new Yokohama brought back the true joy of driving and ride comfort. Braking is much shorter and firm. absolute minimum road noise. far better gas mileage. we are enjoying quiet, comfort Toy Sienna drive/ride.

Best Tires for Honda Odyssey

Wednesday, May 15, 2013 by Steve Huffman

Is it time to replace the tires on your Honda Odyssey? If so, consider the following all-season options for your minivan. My favorite tire for this vehicle continues to be the Goodyear Assurance ComforTred Touring. This tire certainly lives up to its name. It's a premium Grand Touring All-Season tire that provides excellent ride qualities, including superior comfort and low tread noise. In addition to a great ride, the tire offers fantastic all-season traction and long treadwear with a 70,000- or 80,000-mile treadlife warranty depending on speed rating.

Another great option for the Odyssey is the Michelin Defender. Although it is only made in the 235/65R16 size for this van, it's still a very popular choice. The Defender is currently the top-ranked Standard Touring All-Season tire in our customer survey results. This tire also has superior all-season traction and comes with a 90,000-mile treadlife warranty. Designed to help enhance fuel efficiency, Defender tires meet Michelin's Green-X low rolling resistance objectives.

Finally, the Firestone Precision Touring is a good value priced option for Odyssey owners. This tire performed very well in our testing with good grades in wet traction and stable handling. Customers really enjoy the tire, as it sits is second place in its category, only behind the aforementioned Michelin Defender.

The Firestone Winter Force tires replaced the factory original Michelin LTS AT2 tires which were very good hiway tires but were terrible snow tires.

The Winter Forces were easy to balance, give almost no road noise, and drive down the hiway with no squirme with or w/o pulling a trler. Excellant traction in hiway snow or when pulling through deep snow on non-plowed gravel roads.

Two downsides with the Wimter Forces: lost of about 1 MPG, and they p/u hold sall rocks like crazy till about 55 MPH when they start poping into the wheel wells.

I replaced my Goodyear Wranglers with these tires and so far I am really impressed with them. Mostly the ride comfort and road noise are what I like most. They are very smooth on the highway and quiet too. Only about a thousand mile on them but so far I like them a lot. Will update as tires wear in.

Just replaced the original tires (Bridgestone Dueler H/L) which only had 30,000 miles on. I would not recommend the Duelers, they were loud on the highway and tread life was terrible. I did a lot of research and the Firestone Dest. LE2 were the logical choice. Handling, noise level on the highway, and ride were noticeably better. At 70+ mph, we can actually have a conversation in the vehicle now without yelling. Highly recommend these tires and they are $40 each cheaper than buying the Bridgestone Duelers again.

Excellent tire! Very much better than the replacement Firestone 500 Police, Kumho's, and particularly, the Goodyear Eagles Z-rated that came on the car. I had a tread separation on one of these at 24,000 miles - inexcusable on a Z rated tire at highway speeds. The Kumho's handled excellently, and probably gave slightly superior dry traction vs. the new Pilots, but were toast in 16M miles, which is ridiculous. Love all aspects of the Pilots to date. Well worth the very premium price.

Great Chevrolet Silverado Tires

Friday, April 26, 2013 by Steve Huffman

"Like a Rock." Chevy's full-size pickup keeps on trucking. The truck has evolved through the years, but one thing remains the same: dependability. Loyal owners hold on to their truck for many years, even through multiple sets of tires. Is it time to look for new tires for your Silverado?

If you're in the market for a new set, It's hard to go wrong with Michelin. That's why the Michelin LTX M/S2 is my favorite Highway All-Season tire for the Silverado. Besides its excellent ride qualities, including low noise and a comfortable ride, the LTX M/S2 has great all-season traction. The tire is also offered with a dependable 70,000-mile treadlife warranty.

Are you looking for a more aggressive tire? Take a look at the On-/Off-Road All-Terrain Firestone Destination A/T. This tire has been the top-rated option in the category for many years. The Destination A/T looks good while providing great off-road traction. It is tied or at the top of several performance ratings in the category, including:

  • Hydroplaning resistance
  • Wet traction
  • Cornering stability
  • Dry traction
  • Steering response
  • Ride comfort
  • Noise comfort

One of the best value options for your Silverado is the Yokohama Geolandar H/T-S G051. It provides a combination of comfort, handling and year-round traction, even in light snow. With over 28 million miles reported, the tire continues to stay in the the top ten of our Tire Survey Results.

Initial Review, 15,000 Miles on Tires
April 12, 2013

Tires are used on 2002 (manual trans) and now 2003 (automatic) Honda CRV AWD, these tires are a very cost effective, albeit somewhat noisy, way to get winter traction in snow and slippy conditions. Moderately aggressive tread pattern, durable, softish compound still wears much better than I expected (4th winter now still in very good shape especially considering they spend almost all od their time on dry or rainy roads, the car is the primary "got to get to work car" hence snows over all season tires in our somewhat unpredictable though not usually severe winters) studdable if you need it for lots of ice traction and pretty dang inexpensive. We had a 17" snow over night not long after I got these meats and the little CR-V was a TANK, I expected wheelspin but got so much traction I "plowed" the local street as a real plow never comes and also used the trucklet with these tires to clear the gutters for the snowmelt to be able to get to the drains. I purposely tried to beach the little CR-V but the tires pulled right through both the powdery snow then the melting slop with ease. These tires rock for the price and are pretty stout and long wearing in my opinion (about 15000k miles so far and look like they have still several winters left). Do be aware of noticeable tire noise/drone though. Just add stereo and forget it...

Reviewed a lot of tires that were more expensive and narrowed the list down but my choices were on back order at the time. Was hesitant to purchase this tire because I wasn't confident with the brand. The ratings and the reviews were better than expected. I liked the asymmetric look too but thought it would detract from the performance but again the ratings didn't suggest this. I am willing to pay more for value but thought I'd give these a shot. Had them installed just before the snowy season and they performed very well. In the dry they are quiet and our Tribeca tracks better on the highway. So far, great decision and value. Will update later with tire wear.

Great winter tire, but like most winter tires they wear quickly if you drive them on dry pavement. I have had these tires on for three years of Wisconsin winters and have gone through countless snow storms with no issues. Honestly I feel safer driving my 2wd truck in the snow with these tires than with a 4x4 vehicle. I could only imagine how well these tires would perform if they were studded also.

Good tires for good price. They are not performance tires, not the best in cornering. Great on snow & wet road. Most surprising is that they are quieter that all season firestones I have for summer driving. I do not want to say that they are quiet but they are not noisy either. They are very good for mountain & every day driving in light & deep snow. Very good handling & steering. Over all I give them 9 from 10.

Superb tire for the money! Put them on my '03 MDX and went on a 3k mi. road trip. First noticed how much quieter they are than my old General Altimax which only lasted 30k mi. Much more stability and much better ride. Encountered lots of rain during the trip and there was NEVER any sense of loss of traction / hint of hydroplaning during even higher speeds (85mph). We'll see how wear goes, but so far - very impressed!!!

IT ALSO DRIVES QUIET AND RESPONDS ON A DIME. THESE ARE THE BEST TIRES I EVER HAD ON A TRUCK AND I HAVE HAD MANY TRUCKS IN MY LIFE TIME. ON THE HIGHWAY THEY ARE QUIET AND HANDLE SUPERBLY.IV'E HAD THEM FOR TWO SEASONS ALREADY AND THEY STILL LOOK BRAND NEW. I CAN'T EVEN SEE ANY TREADWEAR. I WILL BUY THESE TIRES AGAIN.THANKS FOR LISTENING. HAVE A SAFE ROAD AHEAD.
