Choosing A Tire For My Mom

How did I choose a tire for my Mother's 2006 Honda CRV?  Very carefully!  My Mom can be difficult to please and I did not look forward to the task.  She wanted a high quality tire with excellent all-season traction, long tread life, and a reasonable price.    It is difficult to find a tire that can do all those things well and still be a great value.

After much thought and research the Yokohama Avid TRZ was the best match for her.  My research included our consumer survey results and the surveys revealed:
  • Superior wet & dry traction
  • Excellent snow & ice traction
  • Excellent ride & noise comfort
  • Excellent tread wear
Yokohama Avid TRZ
I also have had several customers order the Avid TRZ for one car and then a year or so later they order another set for a different vehicle in their household.

I did stress to my Mother no matter how good a tire is you must rotate your tires every 3,000 to 5,000 miles and to check the tires' inflation at least once a month to get the most even wear over the life of the tire.

With over 35,000 miles on the Yokohamas I haven't heard any complaints or concerns regarding the tires and with my mother that is as good as it gets.

For winter tires for a 2010 Honda CRV, I would recommend the Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V1, since they provide the best snow and ice traction for wintertime driving in the 225/65R17 size.
