Winter / Snow Tire & Wheel Package for 2011 BMW M3

Tuesday, January 18, 2011 by Ed Singleton
Sport Edition A7It's late in the snow season, but if you need some snow traction for your M3 we have a Winter / Snow Tire & Wheel Package for you. The M3 comes with a staggered wheel and tire set up, but for the winter it's best to downsize.
Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D
Tire Rack recommends a 235/40-18 tire size on the front and rear for the best traction. We have one wheel that fits — the Sport Edition A7 — and you can marry that up with the Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D. This set up will give you the best traction in the snow and ice and will also allow you to rotate the tires as needed.

Replacement Tire Options for C6 Corvette

Sunday, October 17, 2010 by Ed Singleton

When replacing tires on a Corvette you can go one of two ways, either run-flat tires or non-run-flat tires. Run-flat tires are Original Equipment and the vehicle doesn't have a spare tire, but many Corvette owners use non-run-flat tires.

Here are some popular run-flat tire choices:
Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 ZP           Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus ZP          Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval RFT
  Michelin                           Michelin                       Firestone

Here are some popular non-run-flat tire choices:
Hankook V12 evo K110           Continental ExtremeContact DW          Michelin Pilot Sport PS2
  Hankook                         Continental                 Michelin

A ContiComfortKit will air up your tire and seal small punctures if needed. This is a nice tool if you choose non-run-flat tires.

Snowflake on the Mountain

Saturday, October 9, 2010 by Ed Singleton
The snowflake-on-the-mountain symbol is branded on the sidewall of tires that have superior snow traction. Studless Ice and Snow tires will have this branded on their sidewall as well as Performance Winter / Snow tires. Some On-/Off-Road All-Terrain truck tires have snow traction that is good enough to receive the snowflake-on-the-mountain symbol, as well.

So with the all-wheel drive system that the Audi has, this tire will give you excellent traction as well as a smooth and comfortable ride.

On a budget, but need new tires?

Thursday, July 22, 2010 by Ed Singleton
Sumitomo HTR A/S P01If you find yourself in need of a new set of tires and you really do not want to spend a ton of money on them, then this new tire from Sumitomo may be the tire for you.

The Sumitomo HTR A/S P01 is a High Performance All-Season tire priced very well and available in a number of sizes from 14-inch to 18-inch. We just wrapped up our testing of this tire and let me say it's worth every penny -- maybe more.

On the highway I found it to be very quiet and comfortable. When I had a chance to drive it on our test track, it was responsive in handling the corners and had a good braking feel when I smashed on the brakes.

It's an all-season tire; so it can be driven in areas that will see some light snow in the winter, but it is not a tire for someone who drives in severe wintry conditions.

If you need a solid, reliable tire that won't break the bank, definitely consider this tire. Check out the reviews here.

Drop it with Eibach

Thursday, July 15, 2010 by Ed Singleton
Have you ever seen a car on the road that has a new, shiny set of wheels and tires that make you say, "Wow, those look great on that car. But why is there such a gap between the top of the tire and the fender?”

That gap can be minimized by using a set of lowering springs from Eibach, particularly the Eibach Pro-Kit Spring Set. Since this kit is designed to work with your stock shocks and struts, it is not imperative that you change your shocks to a higher performance level. This spring kit will lower the car about an inch or more depending on the application. It will also enhance the handling characteristics of the car without compromising the ride comfort.

Available for a wide range of vehicles, the Eibach Pro-Kit Spring Set is a very inexpensive way to improve the handling and looks of your ride.

See if the Pro-Kit is available for your car.

Winter Tires

Thursday, July 9, 2009 by Ed Singleton
I know it's early but now is the time to start thinking about winter tires for your passenger car.  Winter tires are only made in the summer and then released late summer early fall and the inventory goes quickly. So if you are a person who needs winter tires I would like to tell you a little about the Bridgestone Blizzak WS60. If you have driven on winter tires before then you know what they are about.  If you haven't well then you should because they will change the way you feel about winter driving for the better. I have driven on blizzaks in the winter for about ten years now and I will continue.  They give you such a confidence behind the wheel that a normal all-season tire just can not provide. They take the whole white knuckle feel out of winter time driving. They need to be used in sets of four and once you have them on your vehicle you will feel unstoppable.
