These were the OEM tires that came on my '09 Maxima SV. I've seen some negative comments about that, but in my experience they perform well. The Maxima is the best cornering/handling care I've had by far, and the tires seem fine to me. Wet traction seems good to me as well. Haven't driven much in snow and ice, but let's be honest, if it's snowing I'm leaving my Maxima home and taking my Dodge Ram out. I bought my Maxima used and have driven on these tires for 1-1/2 years. They seem like a good tire to me. I have just over 50K on it, and they're still a bit above the indicator. I'm trying to decide now whether to get another set or go with something a little better reviewed as a performance tire.

I love these R-S3's. I used Falken Azenis RT-215,s and Falken Azenis RT-615 in the past. My car is used a lot on the track. I am an Instructor at the Driveway Austin Track in Austin.

The compound appears to be of an R type as shown by the graining of the tire and lack of tire noise. The grip in dry weather is very good. The Falken 215's were good for the first 3 laps then they would degrade in grip. I found the Falken 615's to be even worse than the 215's. These Ventus R-S3's are far better than the 2 Falkens. The grip is there for much longer the the Falkens.

Even on the limestone laced asphalt in the Austin area they have good grip. There is a section of road that is very slippery even on a hot dry day that cars routinely spin out on. These tires grip well even on this slick section of asphalt.

On the track they work great they make my feel car as though I put $2000 dollars into it. My car is front wheel drive so it really over works the front tires but the R-S3's very well through my 5 to 15 minute stints. With these tires it is a lot easier to go fast and the under steer is reduced as well as oversteer. I am able to apply power when exiting the corners than before. Turn in is also much better.

I have not noticed any problems in the rain. As for noise they generate a little from the tread pattern. The Falken 215 was the quietest tire I ever had.

The R-S3's come with a lot of rubber on them 11/32nd which is just fine for because I also drive my car to the track 6 days a week 48 miles round trip and after 7063 miles.

I try to stay away from directional tires to avoid getting saw tooth due to rolling in the same direction it's whole life. The tread blocks get stair step and the tire can become loud like an off road truck tire but these have not done this! I rotate just front to back and they are still quiet just a hint of tread block noise.

The price is great and I am happy with the wear. I will be buying these R-S3's again and again.

Tires gave me a lot of problems from day 1 when I bought the car. There was impossible to drive this car on highways with speeds 70 mph and up ** 350 miles on it , these tires were putting my Durango in so much vibrations that I had a feeling that car is going to faul apart ** dealer could not replaced them for any other brand so he was just trying balanced them. After balancing all set 5 times ( 3000 miles on tires) let say he finally did it I decided to keep them on but I am not driving faster then 80mph on highways. Overall it is decent tire , good handling and braking in 6" of snow, good wet traction, good dry traction. Over 25000 miles on this set and lots of tread left but I am sorry Goodyear I can not wait to switch to Michelins or Continentals.

255/45R20 Tires on the Front of a Dodge Challenger SRT8

Thursday, March 7, 2013 by Zig Ziegler

The Dodge Challenger SRT8 is the epitome of the new age American muscle car. A massive HEMI V8 and performance-tuned suspension make the Challenger a top choice among auto buyers looking for vintage-inspired good looks. There are two versions when it comes to the tire packages offered on the Challenger SRT8. Typically, if you're in a region that sees winter weather, the Challenger comes with the 245/45ZR20 Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires on all four corners. If you're in a warmer climate or opted for the performance tires, the Challenger SRT8 would have come with 245/45ZR20 front and 255/45ZR20 rear Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar Max Performance Summer tires.

 Goodyear Eagle RS-A
Goodyear Eagle RS-A
 Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar
Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar

Since the Challenger SRT8 with Max Performance Summer tires are staggered larger in the rear than in the front, you lose the ability to rotate the tires front-to-back. Although the tires are staggered, the wheels are not and the same 20x9 wheel is used at all four corners.

I have had many Challenger SRT8 owners using the factory Dodge 20x9 wheels with Max Performance Summer tires switch to 255/45R20 in the front. Now that the 255/45R20 tire is used at all four corners, you can have the best of both worlds: wide performance tires and the ability to rotate tires from front-to-back to gain overall treadlife and more even tire wear.

Shop by tire size 255/45R20 to view the options available and reap the benefits of being able to rotate your tires.

This is the first time I have ever purchased a tire "twice" in a row from the same MFG. This S drive tires are the best tire I have found yet for a value added tire in the performance line of any MFG. tire on the market for the price. The first set of S drive tires went 33,000 miles and I am a sprited driver. This same car I have had 3 other MFG. performance tires on and was only able to get between 15,000 to 23,000 miles of service out of them. That is why i have put a second set of these on this same car again. My son have choosen to try two other brands of tires on the same car as mine and they still do not get the mileage ( around 20,000). If this car last thru these tires I will force myself to try a different brand. To date overall on five different vechiles I have used Yokohama tires of different ratings and feel that Yokohama tires are hard to beat for the value.

I bought my car with some Hankooks on it, they were very nice. But these RS-A 2's are much better. I love taking tight on-ramps at "spirited" speeds, and these tires grip for days. And what a low price for ZR20's! I feel like I can get another 12-20,000 exciting, comfortable miles out of these.

These OEMs on my Ram 1500 have been better than most OEMs on other vehicles. At 46k I have been commuting 35 miles in messy midwest snow conditions. Handling is good to very good in snow (esp. with 4WD on). Confident handling while towing also. Ride is smoother than I expected - I get compliments on my truck's ride and handling, tires get partial credit. May buy another set, just now looking.

I would recomend these above others.

Get yourself a pair pronto!! Bought these tires on sale from Firestone for 83.00/tire to replace the horrible Yokohamas. Couple of days after I purchased these tires, a mini blizzard came through MN and these tires delivered excellent driving stability, accelerated control from dead stop, no slipping on green light. These tires are supple in cold weather, unlike bricks (Yokohamas)I had before. In addition, the precisions provided continuous traction in medium snow fall (3-4 in). Excellent traction on wet roads as well. Have not tested in freezing rain, but I am sure they'll perform great for the non-aggressive driver.

This is a very good tire I must say. I have used Kumho before on track cars, and I have to say for a street tire this is a very descend and affordable tire. They seem to be wearing very even and fair (with a good alignment of course). I admit, the tire is slightly noisier, but you can't really tell. I do appreciate the cornering characteristics on the car, the steering is very responsive, and even when loading the tires heavily, the tires allow for good steering control, and the tires still act the way you want them too. In one instance I had to make a quick dodge to the left, because a car decided to change lanes without looking. When loading the front tires and reacting with the steering, the car was able to maneuver quickly and safely, the interesting part is the tires allow you to control the car well, and in turn translate this reaction quickly to the road. I have tested tires in the past, when the car did not produce enough grip, and when you quickly turned the wheel to one side and back, it was almost just as the suspension reacted but the tires really didn't. these guys make sure your very movement is in fact translated to the road, and that is something I can appreciate. I think they are great all season tires, I have not had too much experience in the wet with them, but they hold themselves well during light rain. The Toyota Steering is very smooth, but also very loose, these tires seem to cope with that well, so you they give you good confidence when it comes to controlling the car. I am happy with the purchase.

I would highly recommend this tire for anyone looking for an aggressive tire .

I had them studded, thus the noise level was a bit high. Great tire overall. Have no problems with traction now for the winter driving. With the Summer only tires I had to move my car in the lot for plowing and got stuck every few feet. Not made for snow, but now I feel safer and more sure of not getting stuck or sliding off the road. Steering is not as good on the road as with the 20" rim and summer tire but as expected they are good for winter driving. Aspect ratio may be the reason for the looser feel. Stock Summer Size 255/45ZR20 Rear 245/45/ZR20 Front. Winter 235/60/18 all four corners. Down sized to 18" Wheel. They are studded so I don't push them real hard, don't want to rip up the roads.Over all great for Winter driving. This is a 6 Speed manual with 392 Rear gears. So Easy off the line, or spin the wheels, rip the pavement or pull the studs out of the tires.

I have been waiting for a good snow before rating these tires, and I just found Nemo! But seriously, these BFGs were an upgrade to my spent OEM Goodyears, which were finished after 20k.
Road noise is more significant than the OEMs but not enough to annoy.
Wet traction is great. Even with an empty bed, I have to really put my foot down to break traction on wet roads.
In the snow, these tires outperform the OEM Goodyear Wrangler AT by a mile. I don't know why other reviewers feel negatively about this tire's snow traction, but I had no trouble rescuing a taxicab tonight, stuck in about 6" of unplowed, wet snow. I felt as confident on these tires as I ever have since owning this Ram.
I have also been monitoring my fuel economy since installing these, and I have not seen any change, so I assume rolling resistance to be at least as good as the Wranglers.

These tires are junk. They slip and spin on dry pavement, wet pavement, and snow. Ride is smooth, and they are quiet, but definitely not smooth/quiet enough to offset the unbelievably poor traction. Even my wife remarks about how often these tires break loose, and she is completely "easygoing" driver. Treadwear is average, about what I'd expect for a passenger/touring tire on a minivan.
These tires came on the van when we bought it in the summer. I figured we'd be able to get through the winter without replacing them but I need to replace them now, mid-winter.
