read a lot of reviews before buying, well my minivan rides better than when it was new. I have 90000 on my grandcarvan only 1000 miles on the tires but the ride is like day and night from my last tires which were Michelin harmony's. just drove thru the 3rd snowiest winters on record in Michigan, thought I had snow tires. I'm a fan for life, defiently recommend.

I purchased these tires at a great price and picked them up Jan 21st 2014. I had them installed in South Bend. It literally drove through a blizzard to get them. Indiana highway made people get off 80/94 that day. Anyway. the way up was slippery, i drove slow. On the way back an Acura MDX spun out in front of me. i stopped in time to avoid the accident. Less than 20 miles in it helped avoid an accident. true story. Any how. I had a new macho confidence with these tires. I tested them like a madman. driving faster than what would be safe for the conditions. But it drove amazingly. Note: i don't condone reckless driving, it was dumb to do and i got lucky. But, it gripped perfectly. I dont have 4WD but it felt like i did. I used to have a set of Nokians on my Lancer years back and these compare about the same. Very quiet so far. absolutely love them. i will update my review when i get more miles. but so far amazing.

I plow snow with these tires. Wow is all I can stay from the looks to the performance across the board. 2013-2014 was a bad winter in the northeast, these tires pushed a lot of snow. I have hit Metor size pot holes with these tires and not one bubble. Amazing treadwear for miles on them. I would say atleast 50% or more left. Highly recommended from me.

I have been fortunate enough if you want to call it that to really get a good feel for these tires in snow, ice, freezing rain, rain, gravel, and mud. Light snow is not an issue at all. Deeper snow has little to no effect on these tires. I have been averaging driving in 8in to 13in+ with little to no problems. The only issue was on about 6in of ice the truck sank into. These tires have been great and look like they are wearing very even. Great buy.

I just purchased these tires and installed today. They look awesome! I took it down to the lake right away and went through deep mud, the sandy beach and through the icy brook full of shale rock. Never slipped or slowed even once. Best purchasing experience ever. Felt like Christmas morning coming home to new ultra rims and general grabbers paired and balanced already. With the hardware sent also, installation was a breeze and now my souped up Hemi has some new hiking boots to explore. Thank you tirerack.com!

Just went through one of the worst winter storms in Minnesota/Wisconsin. Had to drive to the airport in Minnesota. These tires handled the ice on the freeway very well. The Off ramps were not plowed on the way home. The first off ramp to not be plowed was getting off of I-694 to HWY 36 snow was at least a foot deep. Yes I put my trusty Dodge Durango in 4H and and let er rip, I had my doubts about this tire and no longer do handled that off ramp like a champ. Then came the fun part.... I live in rural Wisconsin and when I got close to home ...no roads had been plowed, again had to put the old Durango in 4H and plow through about a mile and a half of snow drift that were about four feet high, it was a scary ride but these Firestone's did not have a problem with the high drifts and got me home bottom line. I was thinking of getting a pure A/T tire but now know these LE 2 tires out performed what I thought they could do. Nice tire !! If they keep it the same I will be buying these tires again when the time comes no need to research again.

just replaced my old good year F1 super car tires with these and let me tell you it is one -------- of a difference. my F1's didnt even last me more than 6 months but i will have to say i am a agressive driver that might of had something to do with it then ontop the treadwear was 220 so what could had i exxpected. i know its early on but just from riding with the new g maxs i am very happy, the ride is very comfy and smooth and it holds turns very well. now i have a 2011 charger RT Road and track and the F1's made allot of noise as soon as i got them but with the g maz's i cant hear a thing witch i was supprised because of the negative reviews ive seen but for all you charger owners dont be turned away the tires are solid and great looking on a 20 inch rim. i was lucky enough to have 2-3 inches of snow the next morning i had the tires put on and they had no problem at all moving along the traction control light didnt come on once and i didnt feel scared like i did in the F1's.its early on to revoiew and i will post as i go on but these tires are a steal and not to mention that TIRERACK had my tires at my garage at 10 in the morning when i orderd them 6 pm the night before i was shocked to how fast it was. i called around and the cheapest price i could get on this tire even at wholesalers was like 220 a tire compare to tireracks prices its a no brainer plus the added benefit i randomly heard from a friend that Merchant tire had a deal with tire rack to lower the mounting and balancing of the tires get this it was 50 bucks compared to the dealership at 120 or sears at 150 you cant beat that anywhere call arpound because i know i did and this whole set was a steal. Big props to tirerack and general you will continue to have my bussiness for sure and i woul;d recommend them to anyone

I drive about 75 percent of my miles on the highway. But the 25% I drive off road will shred a regular tire in no time flat. I drive on caliche roads with various size rocks and sometimes huge holes. Most 6 and 8 ply tire i have tried over the years would only last about 20,000-22,000 miles. I put 55,000 on a set of Wrangler SilentArmor 6 ply tires and still had a good 8-10,000 miles left when I got a new truck. I never even had a flat even though I regularly would drive over cactus, mesquites and sharp rocks. As long as Goodyear keeps making these tires, they have a loyal customer.

Hard-to-Find Tires for the Toyota Highlander, GMC Acadia, Dodge Journey and MINI Cooper

Thursday, February 20, 2014 by Doc Horvath

Many new SUVs and CUVs are coming equipped with hard-to-find tire sizes. Therefore, when the time comes for replacements, there are often few options to choose from. In almost every case, we work hard to stock these unique Original Equipment sizes (like the 19" and 20" options for the GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave). If you're looking for alternative tires, we can often recommend different sizes to provide you more options for your vehicle.

A few examples include:

  • Current generation Toyota Highlanders use a 245/55R19 tire size, but we can guarantee the slightly wider 255/55R19 to work on your Original Equipment wheels.
  • The Dodge Journey uses a unique 225/55R19 tire size, and as an alternative, we can guarantee you can use 235/55R19 tires.
  • The MINI Cooper Clubman comes with a 205/55R17 run-flat tire that can be tough to get. For a better selection in both run-flat and non-run-flat configurations, the 225/50R17 size is a great option.

When developing alternate tire sizes, we have to maintain the correct load rating as required by the manufacturer and stay within 5% of the original tire's diameter to make sure that none of the vehicle's safety systems are affected. Shop by vehicle and view the tire options available for your application.

February 08, 2014

I liked this tire for the first 15-20K miles. It seemed to do everything pretty well. Rode quiet on road even with the aggressive tread pattern. Had very good traction on all surfaces. I'm OK with under half the tread left at 27K miles but the characteristics of the tire have changed dramatically. It still has good dry and wet road traction but the tread is producing a rumbling vibration at highway speed that seriously vibrates the interior of the vehicle. What hard-packed snow traction the tire had is gone. My truck had a hard time climbing a hill into our campground this winter. Even after I switched to 4WD, It spun significantly before it got rolling again. My sister's Dodge minivan with Bridgestone all-seasons and front wheel drive conquered the hill with far less drama. Maybe I should've got the LT versions instead of the P but in summary.. tire was superior in most regards when new but at 20-25K miles, it lost most of its allure. I will look for something else when I buy later this year.

February 17, 2014

This is my second review on this tire. The reason why I'm doing another review is to give an update and to hopefully help someone who may be in the market for getting new tires. I've currently put over 65,000 miles on these tires and they're still holding up. I have been very impressed with these tires given the fact that I've put a lot of miles on them and that I drive a Charger SRT8 which has a lot of horsepower and torque. I live in Maryland so I have driven through all four seasons (rain, snow, sleet, dry, ice, etc). They have performed extremely well through all four seasons. I've had these set of tires since December of 2010 and I'm just now about to replace them (bought two new ones yesterday). Don't get me wrong the tires I'm replacing are still drivable it's just that I feel its time to have them replaced. Also, they ride smooth (you have to break them in though). At times I cruise and at times I drive hard, but on average I drive on the highway, through the suburbs, and through the city. These tires have been through it all and I can't emphasize it enough just how well they've held up. These tires are worth every penny and I'll continue to keep buying them. These tires are the best I've ever had. If your in the market to buy tires do yourself a favor and buy these tires (at least one time) and see for yourself just how good these tires are. They won't disappoint.

February 06, 2014

I gave the tire an 8 for comfort due to "flat-spotting" on cold mornings. Tire feels like a truck tire for the first few miles in cold weather. Otherwise, absolutely silent on the road and very smooth. Traction in rain and snow is superb. I drive a Dodge Challenger and I come from the 4x4 world. This is my first car in 12 years. So honestly I didn't expect it to do well in snow at all being a rear wheel drive car. But these Michelin Pilot tires have really surprised me. We are currently in the middle of one of our worst winters in my lifetime and I haven't been stuck once yet. This morning other front wheel drive cars and two wheel drive trucks couldn't get out of my neighborhood. My rear-drive Challenger made it out. Completely the opposite of what you'd expect. I think these tires are fantastic in snow and ice. They have really made me a believer. They are also very good in the rain. I've never spun the tires or felt the car beginning to hydroplane. Honestly, these tires are really great in all conditions. I'm not a Michelin fan because they are usually overpriced but these things are great. Quiet, fuel efficient, and very good in snow and ice so far. Hopefully they wear well as the years pass.

While Maryland isnt exactly the snowbelt, Im actually from NY, and my girlfriend (its her truck) is from Idaho. Were driving out to her hometown this fall and Ill be staying there probably through November, then driving back East. Since I do heavy construction, and construction sites are often muddy and difficult, combined with the snow in upstate NY, we wanted good AT tires on the truck. So far these are performing excellent, with phenomenal dry traction and good mud traction. I drove ambulances for a living, for fourteen years in NYC, so I have a great appreciation for tires that grip the road. These AT2s are doing a great job so far and I expect them to handle the coming Northern Idaho winter travel with ease.

About the only negative Ive found with these tires, so far, is that my gas mileage dropped quite a bit. I had been getting about 18 mpg highway and I now seem to be getting about 15.5, even with inflation pressures on the hard side. Well see if that changes any as the tires get broken in.

I have only to compare these to the OEM continentals and some Cooper CS4 T rated. These hands down handle better wet and dry than my previous 2 sets. Yes they are more noisey than both OEMs and the Coopers but the feels of the car is much more direct and with no reduction in ride quality. I live in Arkansas so very mild winters as far as snow but it still gets into teens in winter so i didnt want summer and winter tires just an all season that would perform better than the previous tires and these deliver. Very fun on streets and curvy roads. The tires are very audible at there limits so its easy to drive spiritedly with out going too far. This is a big car but these tire seems to handle it well. As far as noise mine are no louder than the day i put them on. I did have to raise the psi of the tires by 3psi a piece to correct a little feathering on the 2nd row of lugs rotated and the wear stopped. Had an alignmet performed at install. Would recommend for anyone who doesnt want an all out summer tire but more than your all season.

10000 miles on them and four tries at getting rid of the incessant thump at 65 to 75 mph, My car has 265,000 miles. I have had 8 sets of four tires ALL BOUGHT THROUGH TIRE RACK!!! I have never and I mean NEVER had an issue with Tire rack, and still don't. I conceded, it may be the car so I changed the prop shafts ($600 they had 90,000 miles and some wear), no change in the Thump, Thump, Thump. Ok maybe the one U-joint or the carrier bearing, swapped them (I ALWAYS use OEM, no cheap parts as this is my track car as well and the thought of a cheap knock off part letting go in a corner at 100mph makes me ill). No change. Its the tires, no doubt in my mind.

I envy the folks that got smooth quiet ones, but it seems like a crap shoot that is not worth taking.

Great performing and looking tire. Haven't had a TON of opportunities to drive in the snow and when I do, I usually don't have the bed loaded with extra weight... I'd imagine it'd only improve on the performance of the tires!!!
