I put this tire through -------- (auto-X's, high speed runs, hard braking, pot holes, etc) and it's lasted well. Traction is excellent but after 17k miles the noise level has been difficult to tolerate. I have some tread left after 20k miles but will be selling my car. Overall I'd recommend the tire.

Tire is a good match for mini cooper S handling and ride is very good much better than the original run flats. Tire seams to have very little wear at 3500 miles Tires handle the curves very well.

I am ridiculously happy with these tires. They have been on the car for nearly 2.5 years and 35K miles. The DWS in the tread is still all visible; S is supposed to disappear first, indicating that snow use is not advised. Our WA freeways are pretty rough, so they are a little noisy, but on a smooth surface they are still very quiet. I have more issue with the wind noise from the ski box then with tire noise. I have only driven in light (2") and packed snow and I felt very confident. The Tiguan is kind of a GTI-inspired SUV, and the handling is crisp and responsive and the Contis enhance the driving experience. I like these so much I put them on the wife's G37x Infiniti in January. The OEM-supplied Dunlops tramlined severly; these have greatly reduced that symptom. Not enough time or miles yet to make additional comment.

It's true that these tires can suffer from being out of round. When I first had these mounted and balanced, I got the dreaded hobble. BUT I took them back to my installer and they road forced them, dismounted them, turned them on the wheel, rebalanced them, and they're about as perfect as you can get now. I saw the numbers on the balancer myself because my local shop lets me stand there and watch and talk to them since I've been going there for years as has my entire family.

As long as they hold up I'll be tickled pink. My huge SUV now knows what a straight line is, corners well, grips well, and can almost be driven like a car. These tires are also very quiet, especially for being in the Low Rolling Resistance category. I also picked up a couple highway MPGs over my old All-Terrains, which are still in the shed for winter and fun.

These are a great tire for the price and are a major upgrade from the OEM Bridgestones the car came with. These tires are smoother, quieter and more fuel efficient than my previous tires. It's been a tough snowy winter and these tires never failed to get me where I needed to go. Dry traction is good with excellent wet traction. Treadwear is even but a little to early to judge tread life. Based on my experience to date I would buy these tires again.

The dry and wet weather performance of this tire is excellent at low temperatures in fact I would say the car handles better than it does on the OEM Continental Run-Flats. The tires are good in light snow and traction is excellent but when snow gets deeper, although the car never gets stuck, the tires do not feel as if they are gripping that well and you have to be careful not to brake too hard or they will slide. The tread pattern is not an aggressive winter tire patten. I have had no problems so far due to the fact I drive on roads that usually get ploughed soon after a snow fall but if I was diring in deeper snow more often I'd get something with a slightly more agressive winter tread and forego some of the really excellent dry and wet wether performance.

We Replaced the Original Horrid Michelin Pilots on that came from the factory. These are an amazing difference. They're Quiet and have amazing grip. Now with my car and the AWD and the stability/traction control I can't say that the car itself wasnt the cause for my thoughts on these tires....but Ill say they just really impressed me. Now in deep snow and in a BMW Sports coupe I wasnt able to test the DEEP snow traction, the car turned into a snow plow before that. As the tires wore down I will say the stickyness of the tires wore down with it. They were not bald and still had grip in the snow and wetness but in hard Cornering you could feel the car wanting to break-away and then with a little bit more body roll then I was comfortable with. All-in-All a great tire. I am buying a set now for my 550i

Great tire that just works. I only use them 7-8 months/year (have separate winter tires). They are responsive, secure in the wet, perform well in dry and have great longevity. Enough tread left after 31K miles that the "S" is still visible. Should easily go 50K+. Will get a set for our other car (MINI) now.

We needed affordable yet excellent performing winter tires for my wifey's SUV. In Canada these tires are almost twice the price, so we drive over the boarder and have them installed by one of Tire Racks suggested garages to save serious $$$. The tires do very well in our snowy winters in Southern Ontario. The best attribute of these tires are the communication it gives you. In the situation that it is loosing it's traction it is very progressive and predictable. The most surprising aspect of this tire is it's traction on ice, it's very very good. Road noise is surprisingly minimal given it's thick block tread design. Handsome looking, aggressive tire as well. One of it's only downfalls is it's cornering ability, it was very noticeably decreased in comparison to the OEM All Seasons. This is very negative is very forgivable given that it is a winter tire and it's aspect ratio is much higher on the 17" rim versus the 20" OEM All Season tires. I would highly recommend this tire to anyone who demands a excellent performer with a value price in mind.

Initial Review, 40,000 Miles on Tires

I use my car to visit customers about ~2 days a week, during those highway trips, I put on about ~200 miles total. The remainder, I have a short commute to the office or work from home. This is an AWD car with a 60/40 rear/front torque split so I kept a careful eye on rear tire wear. Tires were rotated every 10k. After the initial break-in and first 10k, I thought the Conti sidewalls were a little soft comparing to my Pirelli OEM's, but all in all, I determined the tire had a good all around rating.

I live in the Bay Area and when my friends don't feel like driving to Lake Tahoe, I volunteer, though my Audi can only hold 1~2 other schlorks including gear (hee hee hee)... Light/heavy snow performance is a 6~7 out of 10, but that's also due to poor ground clearance (and insufficient space in the wheel wells when they fill with snow). But hey, that's what you get with a good looking sedan with 18" wheels...

Last 10k miles, tire noise has increased slightly. I had a good experience with these and am now in the market for another set. Tire Rack will continue to see all my new tire business. Checking out Michelin PS3's, RE970AS's, and Eagle F1's. Will probably go with the PS3's to try something new and because they are relatively all in the same price range. Thank you Tire Rack.

There are so many better tires for a cheaper price than these. I would not recommend these to anyone. I blew 2 in a year, and now know to get another brand. Even looking at tread patterns from the Continental or General Tire's you can see they would be better for cheaper.

Initial Review, 2,500 Miles on Tires
March 09, 2014

I've only driven 2,500 miles on these tires so far, but wanted to enter a review early and then revisit towards the end of tread life. During these 2,500 miles I've driven in several 2-3" snow events as well as a good foot of the white stuff. Absolutely amazing traction. The Michelin Harmony's these replaced (which had plenty of tread left) had me fearing for my life with any snow at all. I couldn't even climb the smallest of hills with them. The Continentals, however, have me feeling like my Altima is 4X4 Jeep.
I've also had the pleasure of driving in an absolute deluge of rainfall, and did not hydroplane or skid at all. Again, huge improvement from the Harmony's.
Cornering on dry pavement is awesome. Great grip, no squealing or skidding.

Finally, the ride comfort is unreal. They are neither stiff nor spongy. And I can't hear the tires at all at any speed, interstate or back road. Car feels brand new again.
I highly recommend these tires!

My car came with a set of the equivalent Continentals when I got my 2009 Volvo XC70 T6. The Pirellis are superior in every respect. First off, the Continentals only lasted 25,000 miles. I now have the same mileage on the Pirellis and have MUCH tread left on them. The Pirellis are also MUCH, MUCH better than the Continentals on light snow, slush, and ice. PLUS, the Pirellis are quieter and ride better.

This is a fantastic tire and I got an opportunity to test it in a controlled environment on an Audi A4. I was able to compare it against other competing tires (Continental, Goodyear, and others). The difference was amazing. These tires performed beautifully on the test track and provided a level of grip I had not experienced every before. After an entire da of controlled testing and comparison, they held up beautifully with little or no sidewall deterioration. At least one set of the competing tires had horrible sidewall damage. These tires are well worth the money and help make a regular drive an exciting adventure on the road. They are fantastic tires and I will be putting them on my car soon.

It is a decent tire with predictable traction and supple ride however its traction ability goes down quite a bit as the temperature drops below 30. My tires maybe about half worn now and during this crazy winter we are having in the Northeast of the US the tires on my normally very well behaved car would slide a bit in turns when it got cold + snow/icy.

Surprisingly good tire but I did not see an increase in gas mileage although it is a gas guzzling truck.
