Havoc. Tyrant. Beast. The names evoke boldness and aggression. New to our lineup for the first quarter of 2013, WORX wheels back up their attention-grabbing names with extroverted styling.
Headquartered in Fullerton, California, WORX takes pride in its workmanship and offers unique styling with a healthy dose of attitude and attention to detail. Available to fit a broad range of light trucks and SUVs, they are offered in chrome and black finishes.
While the broad strokes will catch your eye first, they also feature subtler touches like surface details on the spokes and milled or machined accents on black-finished wheels. All WORX wheels are covered by a lifetime structural warranty.
A set of WORX wheels with an aggressive tire like the Dick Cepek Crusher would make a Tire & Wheel Package that sets your truck apart from the pack.

Thinking about giving your JEEP or Truck a new look? Dick Cepek has always been a popular choice for off-road enthusiasts. New for 2012, we're proud to offer the Dick Cepek GM7. This seven-spoke, machined with anthracite accent wheel comes in both 17" and 20" options for a JEEP, Ram, F-150 and many other vehicles. Don't forget about the popular Torque and DC-2 wheels, too.
Do you need tires to go along with your new rims? Keep that aggressive look and off-road capability going with Dick Cepek tires, including the On-/Off-Road All-Terrain Radial F-C II, the super aggressive Crusher or the Off-Road Maximum Traction Mud Country.
The following are three of the top choices in the
Off-Road Maximum Traction performance category, often known informally as mud tires.
Currently rated at the top of our survey results is the
BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM2. BFGoodrich is one of the biggest names in off-road traction and for good reason. They have years of experience building tires for off-road racing as well as the consumer market. The KM2 incorporates some of the best attributes of the old T/A KM, along with some of the technology and design of the more specialized Krawler T/A. The result is a tire that excels in a wide variety of off-road conditions.
A perennial favorite and currently rated second in our
Tire Survey Results, is the
Firestone Destination M/T. An aggressive tread pattern comprised of deep lugs and aggressive side biters combines with surprisingly good road manners to make a set of Firestone SUV tires (also designed for pickup trucks) that have been extremely popular and successful. For additional traction on ice and packed snow, the Destination M/T can be studded.
My personal favorite in the category is the
Dick Cepek Crusher. The skull and bones tread pattern is certainly not for the introverts of the world, but it's both fun and effective. Available exclusively in extra large sizes aimed primarily at off-roaders and lifted vehicles, there has not been enough miles reported on this tire for it to show up on our survey averages. So far, the customer feedback that we have received is almost universally positive. A set of these Dick Cepek tires combines exceptional traction and off-road prowess with noise and road manners that are by no means subdued, but more civilized than their wild appearance might imply.
When searching for an aggressive looking tire for their truck, Jeep or SUV, many customers also want good ride quality and low noise from their set.
Off-Road Maximum Traction tires, which are often referred to as "mud-terrain" or "mudders", have very aggressive tread designs and look great on vehicles with an aftermarket lifted
suspension. However, tires in this category are certainly louder and ride rougher than On-/Off-Road All-Terrain tires. Some of the more popular choices in the Off-Road Maximum Traction category include the Goodyear Wrangler MT/R with Kevlar, BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 and Kumho Road Venture MT KL71.
For many drivers, ride and noise comfort are a small price to pay as they truly are looking for the most aggressive look and best off-road traction. For others not willing to sacrifice as much ride and noise comfort, an
On-/Off-Road All-Terrain tire may be the best choice.
On-/Off-Road All-Terrain tires are a practical compromise between Off-Road Maximum Traction and
Highway All-Season tires. These tires are great for drivers who find themselves on unimproved roads or long gravel driveways. Even within this category, there are some options that are more aggressive than others and tend to perform closer to a Off-Road Maximum Traction tire. A few of the tires include the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO, General Grabber AT2 and the Dick Cepek Radial F-C II.
Some drivers prefer tires with less "off-road" tread design and the comfort of a better ride. They also would like the tire to offer exceptional snow and ice traction along with adequate performance in off-road conditions. Below are a few options with less "off-road" tread design:
Whether for work or play, finding the tires best suited for your specific needs is not always an easy task. When you
shop by vehicle, we'll help you find the right tire to match your driving needs.
Dick Cepek's Mud Country is an Off-Road Maximum Traction light truck tire designed for enthusiastic pickup truck and sport utility vehicle drivers looking for tough radials in large sizes.
The tire is developed to combine on-road handling with off-road traction. Stepped tread blocks increase self-cleaning for improved mud traction, while the siped tread lugs provide better grip on smooth surfaces. The Mud Country radial's internal structure features twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wrapped nylon on top of three-ply polyester sidewalls for a full six plies of reinforcement under the tread for strong and tough on-road and off-road characteristics.

If I had a truck, I would put
the Dick Cepek Crusher on it. These are about the meanest looking off-road tires that Tire Rack carries. They have an aggressive tread pattern with large lugs shaped like bones. Continuing the bone motif, the Crusher has skull and bones logos on the side-biters. True to its aggressive image, the tire is available only in large sizes, most of them targeted toward lifted vehicles. It is not a tire for introverts, or the faint of heart, but perfect for your big 4x4.
Looking to stand out when you trick out your truck? Looking for something mean and aggressive in a Max Traction/Mud tire? Don't look any further than the
Dick Cepek Crusher.
This tire features an extremely aggressive tread design that resembles crushed bones. The sidewall makes a statement with a functional skull-and-crossbones biter. It also features outlined white letters on one side, or an all black sidewall on the other.

These are offered in 11 large aftermarket and OEM sizes to go with your new wheels or to dress up your stock wheels.
Not looking for something this aggressive? Take a look at the
Dick Cepek Radial F-C II.
As with any modification, there are always going to be changes in the performance of the vehicle.
While the
Dick Cepek wheels and
BFGoodrich tires look and perform great, the braking system on the Jeep is now a little slow to stop the extra rotating mass.
A simple upgrade on the
front brake pads should be enough to bring it back to the stock or better stopping distance. Jeep recommends and equips the Wrangler with
ceramic brake pads from the factory so we will stay with ceramic pads and go with either the
Hawk Performance Ceramic Brake Pads that offer the best stopping power in our lineup or the
Akebono ProACT Ceramic Brake Pads and
ATE PremiumOne Brake Pads that have a little less dust for the front.

Wow, what a difference!

With the tire and wheels installed on the Jeep you can see that the change in appearance was immediate and effective, the
Dick Cepek wheels and the
BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO tires take the Wrangler X commuter Jeep from average to custom for about a thousand dollars.
The effect on the drive ability was very minimal and frankly the
wider tires offer what I consider to be a more stable feeling than the original
Firestone Destination LE tires that have served us well for about 30 thousand miles and are still at
8/32nds of tread depth (but not nearly as cool). I did notice a little more tracking on uneven surfaces but that is consistent with a wider tire and should be expected.
After fitting up the new tires and wheels I think the
BFGoodrich tires look perfect on the
Dick Cepek wheels! Checking for clearance we are left with over an inch and a half all the way around at full lock to lock with stock ride height.

The only real concern is that the tire sticks out from the fender by about 2 inches due to the -12 wheel offset and will cause some mud splatter down the side of the Jeep...small price to pay...and may be minimized by lifting the jeep with the
H&R Sport Spring Set.

As with any modification there is always going to be a cause and effect, and suprisingly the Jeep responded very well to the upgrade in size and width. Tire Rack installation went flawlessly with the
Road Force balance on the big tires and wheels making shake and shimmy a non-issue and allowing as smooth and comfortable of a ride as possible from an all-terrain tire.

Did you know that Dick Cepek creates both
tires and
wheels? Tough wheel designs and rugged tire treads blend for great off-road tire and wheel packages.
The Jeep tires and wheels below are excellent examples.

The
Mud Country Off-Road Maximum Traction Cepek tires feature some pretty serious tread for rocky, bumpy, sandy, muddy (in other words, less than perfect) roads. We combined them with the
DC-1 wheels, which have a machined finish and black accents.

Last week I spoke with a customer that wanted to get the Dick Cepek DC-1 for his truck but didn't have a lift on the truck to accomodate the Dick Cepek DC-1. I was able to recommend the Traxda Lift and Level Kit which added enough lift to fit the Dick Cepek DC-1. He then thought the deal over and called me back later that day purchasing the Traxda Lift and Level Kit with the Dick Cepek off road wheels and tires for his truck. Saving $50 a wheel on the closeout Dick Cepek DC-1 he was able put the savings on the Dick Cepek wheels towards the purchase of the Truxx Lift and Level Kit.
Tire Rack carries truck supsension lift and leveling kits from Traxda and also Super Lift Suspension Systems. If you're looking to put big all-terrain tires or mud tires on your truck, a lift kit can open up a whole new look for you on the road and off the road. Check to see which lift/leveling kit will work with your truck or SUV suspension at Tire Rack.
