Tires are basically brand new but from the minute I got in the car and drove away I knew I made the best decision I could have buying these tires. We immediately took a trip from our town of St. Michaels Md. to Washington D C and it was pure bliss. The car felt, and sounded, like a new car again. Absolutely the best tire I have ever rolled on. Quiet, and I mean quiet, comfortable, and responsive to every urging of the steering wheel.
I obviously can not comment on tread wear yet but I am pretty confident, well, hopefull. It would be a shame if the tread wear was lacking when everything else about this tire is so stellar.
Response was great. The car responded immediately to the steering wheel, not having the usual delay of new tires with the increased tread squirm delay. Driving in D C can be a challenge at times and one is often forced to make some very last minute decisions and moves in traffic and as always I was forced to execute several of these and the tires performed like a Dall Sheep high in the Rockies, so sure footed and always under complete control. I expect them to only get better with a little break in. My wife could even tell a difference and believe me, if she noticed a difference, there is a BIG difference. She also commented on the quietness of the tires, so again, big difference.
These are the very first Pirelli tires we have ever had and I have to say, we are very impressed.

The tires I ordered have a wide profile. The Cadillac came with even wider tires as standard equipment, which is not good on snow & ice. It was suggested by Tire Rack when I ordered new wheels to get a narrower tire than what this hard riding Cadillac came with. I did order slightly narrower tires than what comes standard on this car. I wish I would have ordered even narrower tires. I do feel much more secure with these ice/snow tires than the balloon tires that were on the car. The tires that were on the car were nearly new with deep hard tread. Still not good in this Wisconsin winter. The Michelin X-Ice Xi3 are as quiet as regular tires and seem to handle corners like regular tires. They are great compared to other winter tires I have had while driving on dry roads & at freeway speeds. I've had snow tires for winter driving continuously since 1987 or perhaps before. However, in deep snow I think a wider lug pattern would be better. I am not concerned about getting stuck as this is an AWD car. Stopping and cornering in the crappy weather we have still concerns me. The traction control still kicks in more than it should on bad roads and at times there is sideways slipping. I have not noticed wear yet on the tires and only estimated my actual miles driven; it may be higher. If I had to choose tires again I may have gone with cheaper ones with wider lugs. I've had Dunlap Graspics and Blizzak tires for years on prior vehicles. In deep snow I think the other tires are better. Hard to say about handling on ice as this Cadillac has too wide of a tire. A previous Cadillac and my Avalon did well with narrower winter tires that seemed to have softer tread & wider grooves. That is a Cadillac thing that the STS has too wide of a tire requirement. Maybe an engineer in Detroit can think about tire profiles for winter driving and that most people don't need to have rock hard suspension.

So I just bought this car and I needed winter tires badly, and I had them studded for extra peace of mind when I came here to tire rack and bought a winter tire package with steel wheels as these are just for winter and don't need fancy wheels covered in snow and crap all winter. I installed these very recently and first impression were good from the looks in person. I took them for a drive as soon as I installed them with our roads being completely covered in packed snow on plowed roads and 4-7 inches of powder on unplowed roads. We have recently received 18 inches of snow in the last 3 days and these tires take it all on without issue. The only time I had to slow down was when the front bumper was hitting the fresh powder on the roads (6 inches deep powder) and was blowing up and covering my windshield and I couldn't see. I stopped several times on snow covered hills and my car just walked op the hill without issue. Being located in Watertown, NY we get a lot of lake effect snow and it can hit at a moments notice and I spent the most part of my day testing theses tires out. Stopping was easily done as long as you don't just mash on the brakes as to be expected with any tire the ABS kicked in but still stopped controllably. Deep snow wasn't an issue, some icy roads are easily manageable, packed snow covered roads were a cinch and I really enjoyed driving in the fowl weather with these tires. No white knuckles for this guy just ease of travel as I was back to feeling safe and confident behind the wheel with these shoes on the car. Now my car has quite a bit of torque for a Front Wheel Drive vehicle that I was concerned about but the traction control worked well and the tires gripped well. These tires were cheapest offered for my car and I was skeptical as I usually go for blizzaks but these I think perform at the same level easily. I would buy these again without worry and knowing they are lower priced than the other competitors just made it easy to choose

I bought these tires a couple months ago, based on the test ratings on this website. As usual, the Tire Rack ratings were dead on! I drive (on average) about 2,000 miles per week, and live in west Michigan. Due to the unpredictable nature of Michigan weather, I needed a tire that performed well in all weather conditions. These tires do everything they say they do, and at a good price.

I was concerned, having a rear-wheel drive car, that an all-season tire would not perform well enough for winter driving. Acceleration at times can be a struggle, but I've never had an issue with traction, when every other vehicle on the road didn't have the same problems. Stopping on icy, slushy, and snow covered roads is NEVER a problem. I've never had a set of tires that allows me to stop like these tires do.

In dry conditions, I don't think there is an UHP-tire available that out-perfoms these. I'm sure there are others that perform as well, but it would be a stretch to say they are better. The tires that are as good, are generally more than twice the price. The only tires that I would consider relatively equal both in performance and price, would be the Continental Extreme Contact DWS'. I think the tread wear is a little better on the Hankook tires though.

Road noise (on good roads) is all but non-existant. My car runs 40 series up front, with 35 series in the rear. I expected these tires to have a very harsh ride, but they are surprisingly comfortable. As anticipated, corner roll doesn't happen, but it shouldn't with such a low-profile tire. Heat disipation is good. I've only had them in weather up to 65 F at this point, but they have never felt surprisingly warm, even after several miles of spirited curved road driving.

The only complaint I have, is these tires "track" pretty bad on grooved roads. It may be due to the 225 front, and 255 rear widths, but I didn't notice this issue with the Goodyear tires my car came with.

For a light car with small tires, it did very well this snowy NW Indiana winter. My third vehicle with Blizzaks, one set on my 4 wheel drive pick-up and the other on wife's Hyundai Tucson. Lose a little agility over regular tires, but that is to be expected.

2014 In Northern New Jersey, so far has been bringing a snowstorm almost every week, 2 ice storms too. All my cars are (RWD) rear wheel drive and are very bad in snow driving conditions so i decided to buy the Firestone Winterforce tires with Studs installed on all 4 of them just in time before the major snowstorm we had on 2/13/14. I took my e23 BMW 5pd manuel on roads and steep hills that my car could never climb and those firestone winterforce gave so good traction in the snow, i was going almost the speed limit (40mph) of the road, climbing steep uphill through i say 5" of snow on an unplowed road. Actually had fun driving in the snow with no fear of getting stuck, lol. These tires saved me $28,000 from buying an AWD SUV do to harsh weather conditions this year. Also tried driving on black ice in parking lot at work and studs of tires griped through the ice at minimum slippage. Just speachless for 27 year old RWD. Bought a set of Blizzaks for my daughter's New Beetle in November. Her first reaction was, these tires are great and I don't slide or spin anymore when it rains. Then she drove in the snow and was thrilled that the car ahead of her was spinning wheels trying to get up a hill and she didn't slide or spin once, just went right up the hill. With the winter we've had here in Maryland, this was the perfect winter to have a set of dedicated winter tires. And if SHE notices the difference, they have to be an incredible tire for winter driving. We will go back to all-seasons for spring, summer and fall, but these tires will be on my "snow" vehicles from December through March every year.

Bought the tires in 2012, and put 30K miles on it already. I've experience it on almost all kinds of weather condition - heat, cold, rain, heavy rain, light snow, heavy snow, and even some ice.

Comfort: Not good. The tire is noisy, just like the OEMs. What's worse, it sounds like you're riding on an inflated balloon - you can literally hear the "emptiness" inside the tire when driving highway.

Wear: Not good. Mfr says it's good for 50K, but mine is pretty worn after 30K. I consider myself very conscious about tire pressure, and I keep it at the min of 33 PSI which is suggested by Honda... however the center wear slower than the both sides, which suggest they have been under-inflated. As a result I tend to put 35 PSI during winter and release it back to 33PSI when it's summer.

Traction on dry: Pretty good. I'm not an aggressive driver at all, and I think the tires grip pretty well on corners.

Traction on rain: Average. Front-wheel to slip a little when road is wet and press the pedal harder from complete stop. Cornering is still fine as long as you don't go nuts.

Traction on ice: They're fine considering they're not winter tires. So lack of traction is expected, but at least I was able to get the car into the garage when the driveway was 100% covered with ice for 5 days early this year.

Traction on light snow: Again these are no winter tires, so I don't expect them to do well - but they're well enough that the car won't slip as long as you drive with caution and leave plenty of space ahead. For Honda Fit Sports, you can take advantage of the paddle-shifter to downshift instead of 100% on the brake while on snow.

Traction on heavy snow: The tires handle reasonably well for all-season. I was able to get out from deep snow on parking lot - and when I mean deep, it means the clearance between the ground and the bottom of the car.

In summary - the tires handle weather reasonably well for the low price, but the treadwear and road noise are below average.

well performing tire all around (not good in deep snow- but most all seasons are not). But these tires only lasted 30K miles on my 2011 Acura RDX. Front wheel drive, rotated every 5K miles. What gives? Always kept tire pressure around 37-39 and no hard driving. (ok maybe one burnout when I first bought the car lol) Putting aside the wear issue, these are excellent tires but I cannot bring myself to purchase a set. Probably going to go with general altimax this time around. Heard nothing but good things and my mechanic swears by them.

I have these on my 2011 Miata, with a 6-speed manual and LSD. While their dry pavement traction is not quite as good as the Bridgestone summer tires that came with the car, these are probably the best all seasons I've ever had on a Miata (and I've been driving Miatas since 1996). I've previously used Bridgestone, Firestone, and Toyo all-seasons. My Miata is my only car, so parking it in bad weather isn't an option. I haven't had them long enough to truly judge wear, but they seem to be ok so far. While they were fairly quiet when brand new, I agree that they are becoming somewhat noisy. The ride is much less harsh than prior tires, probably due to somewhat softer sidewalls, but I still have a great amount of grip, and feel confident during hard cornering. This winter is the worst we've had in years, but I've never had any real trouble with traction. At about 45 mph on packed snow and ice, I tried to get the car out of shape using only the steering wheel, but was unable to do so. When I did break loose using the throttle, it was very controllable. In about 7 inches of snow on an unplowed parking lot, I had no trouble moving the car at all. I have never tried winter tires, so I can't do that comparison, but as long as you don't get too rambunctious, these tires do the job. I will also say that I really like their grip on both wet and dry pavement. When reading some of the negative comments on this tire, I almost wonder if they're reviewing the same tire, unless this tire performs that much differently from car to car. All I can say is that I'm very pleased with this tire. If this winter becomes the trend, I may get a set of winter tires, but barring that, I feel these are a really good tire for those who want to stick with all-seasons for their car.

Bought a whole new set of these tires for my 02 maxima. I also bought a new set of stock wheels. this way everything would be new and i would have no issues. these tires are great and i have no complaints. they look great and do exactly whats needed. im not a speed demon. although i will get on the car sometimes, these tires give me no issues. great in water and snow (only light snow so far). ive read some reviews that say these tires are loud. but in my opinion they are not louder than any other tire ive ever had. the stock tire that comes with my car is around 285 bucks. thats insane. i used to have a set of goodyear eagle gt's. good tire as well but they cost almost 50 bucks more a piece. this tire is around 100 bucks and i think for that price you get a great deal. no slipping. good grip wet or dry. braking feels fine. if i have anything negative to report about in the future i will update.

I am a class winning autocrosser, and a performance car enthusiast. My judgments consider the cost and class of the tire. I am not the primary driver of this vehicle, but often carpool with my wife and take this car on long trips.

I have owned three sets of this particular tire. The first are on the factory wheels that have been replaced with aftermarket ones. These still have great tread and I still use them from time to time. The second set was on a set of aftermarket wheels once the car was lowered. With a Good alignment and proper rotations, we got **40k miles** (note the tread wear rating indicates they will last about 31k miles) out of this set, only driving down to the wear indicators. Currently have about 8-10k on our third set.
For the price, these tires are absolutely unbeatable. During spirited, mountain road, dry conditions they performed very well and very predictably. Easily outpaced novice drivers in a slower car on the tail of the dragon. However, their peak grip does not approach that of a performance summer tire. During wet city and highway conditions these tires are excellent. Their wet grip and resistance to hydroplaning is stellar for their price. Even right before we replaced the second set they inspired confidence and maintained a high degree of hydroplane resistance in all but full on, standing water. We only recently experienced snow that was worthy of reviewing. I have to say I was completely surprised these tires performed as well as they did. These tires on this car easily went where my primary vehicle (a heavier car with Michelin All-Seasons, more ground clearance, and a limited slip differential) would never have ever gone. With smart, cautious driving I would trust these tires in up to 4 inches of powder any day of the week.

These are an excellent, all around, affordable, tire and simply cannot be beaten for their price. I will continue to purchase these for all of my commuting vehicles and recommend them to all.

I got these Michelin Super Sports when I put on my aftermarket 19" Brabus wheels. They are solid performers and have a nice quiet ride, which compliments the car. Road noise is minimal, even when the tires are worn down. Driving style is moderately spirited, the car is a daily driver to and from the office, with a mix of street and hwy in Orange County, CA.
My issue is the tread life. I used to get 20,000 miles+ from the Michelin PS2 tire and the Goodyear Eagle F1. On these Super Sports, I only got 17,000 miles, and the tread is showing on both of the rears (E550 is a rear-wheel drive car). I'm going with another brand this time, most likely the Continental Extreme Contact DW.

I don't know if it's the car or the Tires? My 2012 SRX, All wheel Drive is the best riding car I ever had. In Snow, I tried to get stuck in snow, but the Tires never Slipped once, and PA had a Record year for Snow Fall! After 19,000 miles the tires are about half gone, I will be buying the same tires when the time comes!

I purchased these tires toward the end of October and mounted them on the vehicle in the beginning of November. This is my first winter season in a few years without a four wheel drive vehicle and I wanted to ensure that I could get to work and other places safely in our lovely Pennsylvania winter weather! Well, these tires did not disappoint! I have roughly 3k miles on them and I have been in a number of snow scenarios with them this year. Every storm I have felt confident in my vehicles handling thanks to these tires!

I purchased a wheel kit from TireRack that included the wheels and tires already mounted and balanced. They are perfect! I do not have any vibrations whatsoever and the tires are not very noisy on dry pavement. The Fit is an econobox, and if these tires were loud, I would definitely know it. They ride comfortably and handle OK. These tires are not performance tires by any means, but they handle well enough and do not suffer from tread wobble like others I have seen. Where these tires really shine are in snowy conditions! I have more faith in my little FWD car than I did in my AWD Explorer or 4x4 Jeep that I had previously owned. These tires will get you moving and stopped in most situations that I have encountered. The one exception to that would be ice. Even though these tires are studdable, I do not have studs in mine. If I did, I am certain even ice wouldn't be a problem. I did not want the extra road noise from studs.

If you want a good all around winter tire, look no further! I will be purchasing a set of these for my wife's Altima for next winter as well. Also keep in mind, skinny tires go better in the winter than wider tires but you will sacrafice some handling on dry pavement. I would definitely recommend these tires to anyone looking for snow tires!

Flew from Dallas to Denver on Sunday to pick this 2013 Scion XB, car was used with only 3400 miles on it. Drove from Denver to OKC Monday afternoon/night, perfect weather and dry roads all the way. About 20 miles east of Denver on I-70 started hearing a strange sound, thought for a minute or so that a wheel bearing was talking to me, after a few miles the pavement changed and the noise vanished. This noise came and went all the way to Dallas based on the pavement surface, I have never heard a tire talk this much or at this DB level. Just ordered new Continental PureContact W/Ecoplus to solve the problem, have them on my wifes car and they are great.

Like how PA4 communicates to driver in ice or snow conditions. First winter on the PA4 but has proved grippy and secure. Can tell when tire will break away on fresh or packed snow and what it takes to bring it back. More sophisticated than an average snow tire. In times past used Nokian, Blizzack, Dunlop, and many standard or high performance snow tires on various vehicles. Thus high expectations, even though there are few reviews of PA4. Interesting that Porsche had been involved with development too. We usually have traction control devices engaged in cars --on mode– when entering harsh weather. Recently, however, have been turning off DSC in Bimmer sport-wagon, as control and performance of vehicle seems even better with PA4's. Car handled better without using DSC. Added control with such throttle response has been fun and added new dynamic. Generally enhanced winter driving experience in the 5 Series wagon with sports suspension. Rear wheel drive BMW has been easier to drive fast in snow and ice latley, yet with more control. Car more predicable now. Cornering to date has been superb in dry/wet conditions and the sidewall feels firm while offering quiet, comfortable ride. Have not pushed tires too hard yet, as want to give belts and rubber break in period. Yet already feels like an Ultra High Performance tire with intriguing winter capability. Have not yet finished testing and haven’t been in really deep, heavy snow, but if these are first indications of what to expect then we're excited. For higher performance, lower clearance vehicles this should be a serious candidate for winter consideration. Looking forward to also trying the Michelin Xi-3 on other cars, as we are also big fans of the Conti Extreme Winter Contact which was very impressive on a Saab we own. That and the PA4 seem like the real leaders currently. Shall report back as we find out more about PA4 on BMW. Thus far does seem like a game changer in winter segment. Thanks Tirerack.

Hands down the best winter/snow tire you can purchase if your car can mount 17' wheels. I just traveled up the east coast during this past week's major snow storm that hit the south/mid-atlantic (2/13/14) and I never had a moment where the car felt out of control or that I could not traverse a patch of snow or ice. My experience is that of a car with AWD so that being the case these tires made it feel as though I was on a regular surface when trouncing through half a foot of powdery snow.

These tires can give a sense of over confidence though, because they're so good at stopping you and at getting traction specifically. This doesn't mean you're impervious to very deep snow or won't get your car stuck doing something stupid. What it means is that you're more capable of getting around in heavy snow with these tires then arguably any other set here on Tire Rack. Yes, they are that good.
