I managed to get over 50,000 miles out of these tires, and they wore very evenly. There is very little siping left once down to just above the wear bars, so wet and ice/snow traction suffers greatly once you are near the end. Dry traction remains great of course. Up to the 40,000 mile mark the tires were great in all conditions, and should be considered the benchmark for all season tires for mid-size sedans. I have ordered a set of Kumho Ecsta PA31 for the next go around, as my Caddy STS just isn't ready to die yet with 159,000 miles. I would recommend these Michelins for those that can afford them.

NOISY, NOISY TIRES! HORRIBLE, STIFF RIDE. These tires cause my BMW 325i to feel like a barn wagon and to have a loud humming noise that sounds like a prop airplane engine. This car WAS fun to drive BEFORE I put these tires on it, but now with these tires, I have to blast the radio to compete with the noise from these tires on the highway. Please note that I only replaced my rear tires, so there are only two of these tires on my car and the ride comfort has plummeted dramatically. I can only imagine how unbearable it would be to have all four of the tires as the Kumho Ecsta 4X. I am very disappointed because most of the reviewers had reported that these were quiet tires, but that is not the case for my car. Now my car feels like a very low end vehicle on its last legs. Awful. Don't buy these tires. Or wear earplugs while driving that you would wear at a rock concert.

Despite my displeasure with the tires, I must say is that the service from TireRack has been excellent. The tires arrived when promised and the installer honored the prices agreed upon. I would definitely purchase tires from this website again, but they would be a different brand and model.

I needed new tires immediately 1 year ago because the OE Goodyear Eagles with 45,000 miles were useless in the snow. Since I don't recall them ever being fantastic in the snow I wanted to try something new. Since the highly rated Yokohama Paradas were not available (and they did not know when they would arrive), I got the Kumho KR21's.
These Kumhos seem to be very good in the deep snow and slush. The first think I noticed is that they ride hard, turning the Murano's usually compliant ride into a harder ride, with more shock from bumps and ruts in the road. I haven't noticed anything from noise, so I guess they are pretty quiet. I was told it's the materials used in Kumho tires that make for the firmer ride than for example Goodyear.
I did notice tire spin when starting up on ice or slick roads... so I don't know if that's due to the AWD/traction control capabilities of the Murano or that these tires don't grip well on ice?
At 16,000 miles there does not appear to be any signs of wear yet, so they are holding up well.
My Murano has 118,000 stop and go city miles with noises and leaks and repair bills to match, so I don't know if I will be getting new tires agin for it again. If I do... I might look for softer riding tires. These are very good though.

I purchased this tire based upon test results. Tire Rack has always provided great tests, no other tire store that I know of provides this service. They really liked this tire because it gripped like a Summer tire, but was an all-season tire.
Well, the grip is really good. But the tire has two big faults.
1. Tire squeal! This tire squeals loudly way before it starts to lose traction. I can be well under control and people around will look to see who is about to have an accident. The tire grips very well, but complains loudly while doing it. I cannot get anywhere near the limit of this tire without drawing huge amounts of attention to myself.
2. This tire is one of the worst tires I have had with regards to steering responsiveness. This tire is so slow to respond that the car feels like I'm driving a boat. I will admit that I have just come off some of the best tires I have ever had (Bridgestone RE01, this tire was the most responsive tire I have ever had on my SHO. The Bridgestone made my car handle like a Porsche). These Kumos have such a soft sidewall. The response from the sidewall is almost 1/2 second late. Breaking is fantastic, and the tire is hard to spin on takeoff, but turn in is slower than my grandmother! I am having to buy a new tire because I miss judged the response time of this tire and hit a curb and cut a gash into the sidewall. I have been traveling this road for 12 years and this is the first time I have ever hit that curb! Not a happy camper!

I just switched to the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 tires as I had my third blow out on a set of Kumho SPT tires in about 5K miles and 13 months. On two occasions I could not see any rhyme or reason for the blow outs. On the first occasion it was a nasty pot hole and I totally understand.

The Michelin's are absolutely amazing, in particular for the price point that they are at. I managed to put about 500 miles on them in 3 days in dry, wet, very wet, cold and light snow conditions. The tires just performed amazingly well. In the dry, the level of adhesion is beyond the other three sets of tires I had on this car (Bridgestones and Kumho). On the same on / off ramps, I am going about 15 MPH above the other two tires limit and these just keep on sticking! The breakaway characteristics are very linear and very predictable and in the GTI with its FWD very easy to manage. Even more impressive is their traction in the wet, where on a trip to upstate NY in the rain and heavy down pour, they did not hydroplane even once and I had to physically watch the speedometer as the confidence that these tires inspire can easily inspire one to go a lot faster than one should! There was light snow when we got to the mountains and in the light snow there was no issue whatsoever with traction or predictability.

The tires are soft to the touch but in the 50 or so miles of the dry back road twisties I went to and threw the car around, I could not see any tread-wear whatsoever. I have not seen that on any new tires that I have tried on any of my cars as I have always got them to grain a little bit in that type of spirited driving. The steering response is immediate and predictable and I can really toss this car around knowing what the tires are doing as they communicate the surface really well. They are the quietest tires I have ever had on any car and there were no harsh noises or jolts when going over expansion joints.

I wholeheartedly and without reservations recommend these tires.

The G-MAX was my third set of tires on this car. 35000 miles seems to be about the maximum amount mileage I can get out of a set of tires with this car. I keep it aligned and watch tire pressure closely but, I cannot rotate the tires due to the different size tires and offset of the OEM wheels. For all around performance, the G-MAX was better than the OEM Bridgestones and the second set Kumho LX, which performed well except on ice and deep snow. However, there is a reason why I only got 27,000 miles instead of 35,000+ with the G-max. I had to replace them because I couldn't stand the noise anymore. The first 5000 miles were fine but after that it sounded like I was running mud tires. Handling on dry, wet, snow and ice were fine. Treadwear good and even. Noise was awful. My radio only goes up to 10. VanHalen called me and ask me to quit playing their music so loud. Now trying the Hankook Ventus and Eddie hasn't called once. I'll report back in 20,000 miles. BTW,Tire Rack rocks. Working on about my 10th set of tires with different vehicles from them.

I live just outside of the Washington, DC area, home of the just about the worst traffic in the country. Luckily, my daily commute consists mostly of free flowing highway driving with light traffic (down the new ICC toll-road) so 70+ mph is my usual pace there. Otherwise, my normal driving is suburban stop & go, daily grind, sort of stuff. These Kumho Ecsta 4X tires are my 3rd set of tires on this vehicle and by FAR the best I've used. The stock tires were Goodyear Eagle RSA's and as the reviews for those state, they were completely average tires with poor handling in anything but dry conditions. My next set of tires, Yokohama Avid V4S were old standby's that I'd had before on a previous vehicle. They were great tires, especially for the money. At 107,500 I was ready to purchase new tires as I usually always can get 50K+ mi. out of my tires. I read a lot of reviews about the newly redesigned Yoko's but couldn't help noticing the great reviews that the Kumho Ecsta's had received. I took a shot many years ago with Yoko's and have been really happy with them on both my G35x, Ford Explorer, and my Honda Accord V6 coupe. Sorry for the rambling, but just wanted to give some background. In any case, the price on the Kumho Ecsta's was great, and the trusted Tire Rack reviews convinced me to give them a shot on my G. I've had these Ecsta's now for 16,500 mi. from 2/20/13 to current (one year) and loved every minute of these tires. The ride is great, the noise level is adequate, and handling whether through our 90+ degree HUMID summer to our 10 degree lows in several inches of snow in the winter has been nothing short of spectacular at every level. I would highly recommend these tires.

Living in central Alabama, I needed a tire capable of handling a little bit of anything. We get plenty of rain, and the occasional dusting of snow. However, I didn't want to totally compromise dry handling characteristics. This tire fit that bill quite well.

For pure dry grip levels, it's an all-season. Don't expect sports car levels of grip. However, it handles mild spirited driving just fine (even did an autocross or two on these). It doesn't make too much noise either. Treadlife and wear is nice, and appear that these will last most drivers well.

In the wet, they are great. We get some heavy downpours here, and I've always had full confidence hitting even large puddles on the highway at reasonable speeds. Wet traction is well maintained, and very respectable.

What little bit of snow we get (as well as the bit I've experienced with these during my travels out of state) was handled well by these tires. Obviously not a dedicated snow tire, but in light snow, slush, and even patches of ice they remained a solid choice.

If you're looking for an all-around go to tire that you won't have to worry about what the weather will be, at a great price, you won't be disappointed with the Kumho Ecsta 4X!

The Kumho ECSTA PA31 is probably the best passsenger car tire I have ever bought and I'm 48 years old. I have driven this tire on a 2007 Acura TL for 10,000 miles and it has been nothing short of outstanding. I drive 280 miles a day, 3 to 4 days a week from the Eastern Allegheny mountains to the Pittsburgh airport. Through driving rains, dry roads, sleet and snow, you name it. I always wondered what my car would be like if it had AWD. Now I know, this tire is SOLID!!!

I have been a Kumho guy for over 20 years. Owned 2 sets of the Platinum LX. Tires seem to drop off the inside tread prematurely. Both vehicles were aligned. All alignment specs are ok. 40k is the most mileage I could safely run these tires. Probably will not give them another chance. Snow traction is fair a best. But all other areas they are above average. I'll still buy Kumho in the future.

Keeping in mind the price-point of these tires, I have been very impressed with their performance to this point. I have about 2000 miles on them and have driven them in just about every weather condition. Wet/dry traction has been impressive and I quickly gained confidence in these tires in light snow. In heavier snowfall, I adjust my driving style to the conditions, but, have had no problems whatsoever with takeoffs or turns. Ride comfort and noise level are at least on par with the OE Eagle RS-As. As others have stated, treadwear will ultimately determine if this was a great buy.

Bought these to go on my girlfriend's infiniti. Replace some old Goodyears. I'm one for spirited driving and these tires hold up well for that. dry grip is solid and it takes some pushing to get these tires to their limits in a big sedan. very stable overall, but there's a very slight hesitation when doing sudden course correction (did a quick homebrew autocross when the tires were new). Most people won't notice it but i'm used to driving an Mr2.
Wet grip is great for an all season and im constantly impressed by how stable it is and its resistance to sliding. You can get it to slide if you push too hard, but i can take the same turns comfortably at 80% speed wet vs dry. wet braking is a little less impressive, as it will engage the ABS quickly if you stab it too hard, but generally good braking performance in light and heavy rain.
Snow/ice performance is average for an all season, Light snow being significantly better than deep, but i've only needed to dig myself out once this winter, so from standstills/parking it gets you going just fine.
I drive with traction control off most of the time and i have to actually try to lose the rear end on anything other than ice. very predictable when a slide begins as well.
For the record, i live in Chicago, so i've seen wet, dry, snow and ice in the same week.
Rides a little harsh and drones a bit at 70mph, but those are acceptable trade-offs for a the perforamnce/price envelope this tire gives.
four/five stars.

Purchased these tires thru TireRack to replace the P Zero Nero's on the X3 when I bought it used. (96K miles, now at 103K after 4 months!) We took the X on a 1200-mile road trip with the Pirellis still on it, then changed to the PA31s just before the winter driving season. (Oregon allows AWD passenger vehicles with M&S tires to opt out of chains when otherwise required, but I wanted new, deep tread to feel comfortable!) Driving away from the tire shop after the changeover, the difference in the feel became apparent at the curb, pulling onto the street/highway. Literally. The ride with the M Sport package was expected to be firm, even downsized to 235/50-18, but with the Pirellis it was still pretty jarring. This tire was instantly more comfortable, both from a ride and noise standpoint. Road trip to San Diego (2000 miles R/T) was very smooth, and the tires were equally at home at 80 on the freeway and through sweeping curves. Absolutely no tramlining on grooved pavement, which we hit several times on that trip. The first snow of the year was followed by very cold air, which kept snow on the ground for a week -- very unusual for this area, but a great chance to try out the tire and the AWD on the X3. Both excellent in over 6" of snow. Not Blizzaks, to be sure, but I was pleasantly surprised with test stops, up to activating the ABS. Haven't measured tread depth after 6K miles but still look and feel very good. I was nervous about buying Kumho for this demanding an application, but have since bought a set for my son's Subaru, and will consider for other vehicles as well. Pretty unbeatable for the money.

I went from having 18" Pirelli PZero Nero's to buying a 16" rim with these Kumho Sense tires and the difference couldn't have been greater. With the 18's road noise was almost unbearable. You almost couldn't carry on a conversation and the noise was even present at low speeds. Now the cabin is silent. With the 18's any amount of snow meant I was going nowhere. I would get stuck in a parking spot with less than an inch of snow. I almost couldn't turn and acceleration had to be done extremely slowly. Now wherever I point the steering wheel is where I go. I don't have to worry about sliding off the road or getting stuck in a parking spot. These kumho's have even improved my mpg. Before I was getting around 28-30mpg now I'm hitting high 30's. My only regret is waiting so long to downsize my rims. I also want to thank tirerack for the awesome service. I ordered my tire/rim combo on a Saturday and received them on Tuesday. They were shipped right to my door premounted and balanced. All I had to do was bolt them on. I checked with my local tireshop to see what it would cost for the same product and their quote was $200 more. I am definitely going to be doing business again with tirerack. You've just gained a customer for life.

This tire has incredible dry and wet grip, and it is very resistant to hydroplaning so far with about 14,000 miles on them. They are also very responsive to steering input and give a stable ride. Be aware that these tires do have stiff sidewalls though, so they will firm up the ride and they are a bit more noisy than a touring tire, so if you want something totally smooth and cushy, they might not be right for you. I think they're great. I have only driven them at very slow speeds on ice/snow (I have dedicated winter tires too), and they were a bit slippery, but serviceable at slow speeds and with caution. I did not purchase them for snow driving though and the only reason I got to try them at all is because I accidentally took my snow tires off a week too early. At 14,000 there seems to be enough tread left to get another 10-15K on them before the reach my wear limit, which is typically before they would legally be considered worn out. I am fine with that...I buy my tires for traction and safety first. I run them at 31 to 32 psi.

I am a class winning autocrosser, and a performance car enthusiast. My judgments consider the cost and class of the tire. I am not the primary driver of this vehicle, but often carpool with my wife and take this car on long trips.

I have owned three sets of this particular tire. The first are on the factory wheels that have been replaced with aftermarket ones. These still have great tread and I still use them from time to time. The second set was on a set of aftermarket wheels once the car was lowered. With a Good alignment and proper rotations, we got **40k miles** (note the tread wear rating indicates they will last about 31k miles) out of this set, only driving down to the wear indicators. Currently have about 8-10k on our third set.
For the price, these tires are absolutely unbeatable. During spirited, mountain road, dry conditions they performed very well and very predictably. Easily outpaced novice drivers in a slower car on the tail of the dragon. However, their peak grip does not approach that of a performance summer tire. During wet city and highway conditions these tires are excellent. Their wet grip and resistance to hydroplaning is stellar for their price. Even right before we replaced the second set they inspired confidence and maintained a high degree of hydroplane resistance in all but full on, standing water. We only recently experienced snow that was worthy of reviewing. I have to say I was completely surprised these tires performed as well as they did. These tires on this car easily went where my primary vehicle (a heavier car with Michelin All-Seasons, more ground clearance, and a limited slip differential) would never have ever gone. With smart, cautious driving I would trust these tires in up to 4 inches of powder any day of the week.

These are an excellent, all around, affordable, tire and simply cannot be beaten for their price. I will continue to purchase these for all of my commuting vehicles and recommend them to all.

I bought this tire after reading reviews off tirerack.com All i gotta say is this tire exceeds my expectations. I live in minnesota so i drove through rain,shine,snow and so far its a improvement over the previous kumho kr21 and uniroyal tigerpaw touring. Where the tire really shine is wet and snow traction over the previous tires Ive had. Wet roads are confident with little to no spinoff unless heavy throttle is applied. Snow traction is great i can actually hear and feel it biting over 3-6 inches of snow covered roads. I am a lot more confident driving this van now in the winter than ever before. Noise levels are reasonably low and steering is quick and precise i can take an off ramp going over 30mph with "NO" tire squealing problem whatsoever. Overall this tire well worth the money and makes my van goes where ever i want it to with no worry.

Fantastic "Jack of All Trades" tire. For the price, you get an excellent tire. Dry and wet grip is pretty good. Snow grip isn't the best but far from the worst for an A/S tire(that's reserved for Conti DWS in my experience). What really stands out in the snow is the tire grip limit speaks too you the whole time giving you the confidence you need.

I read the reviews of this tire and have to laugh when people say they are weak in the dry traction area. I drive VERY spirited through tight mountain roads and they are fantastic. They out preform the Michelin, Kumho, and Continental sport tires hands down. These things stick like glue and lose traction very predictably. If you have trouble with traction or ultimate grip with these tires it is NOT the tires lol. My son runs the DZ 1, I know it is a softer compound then the 101, on and his M3 suspension binds before his tires lose grip. He has run both and had the same experience I had. I bought them on this site and am thinking about getting them again for another car. They do not last as long as the others I mentioned but that is the trade off for the grip you get. My "5" means average my "10" means exceeds expectations.

I bought these tires a month ago to replace tires damaged by road debris. These are by FAR the best tires I've had on this car, including OEM Potenzas, Kumho Solus KH16, two sets of General Altimax HP. The General's were pretty good, but wore fast and did not corner/brake on snow well. These Pirelli's are amazing. The car is noticeably quieter and rides smoother -- it's like a new car. We have had a snowy winter so far in CT so I have had many chances to test these on snow and ice. I have had snow tires on other cars that didn't perform this well. Truly impressive. Yesterday I drove up the steep hill to my house on 8 inches of unplowed, unsalted snow without so much as a slip. A Subie and these tires is unstoppable! Very, very happy with this purchase... would buy again in a heartbeat.
