My Mini Van is modified for my needs and is Wheel Chair accessible. Making it so, requires many modifications that effects many aspects adversely as well as driving dynamics. Traction in wet, ice & snow is a top concern for my needs and these tires performed very well for me. I live in Fayetteville AR and it's very hilly and since it does not snow a lot, when it does so the town is not well equipped to dell with it. We did get our fair share this past winter and I was very pleased on how these tires performed in fresh and untouched snow of 5 or more inch snow. It is holding well on tread wear and preforms well in rain and such. Noise and comfort are not my main concern since these are well compromised due to all the modifications, but these do as well if not better than what were the factory tires, I have a little over 40000 on the van and about 10000 on these tires. Predictable braking and handling perfomance and I'm not pushing it anyway, and the price was very good(-:

I just drove over 100 miles in the rain at 70mph. No problems with hydroplaning at all. Great wet weather traction! Good smooth ride on the highway at 60-80mph. Not sure what the speed rating is, but I didn't want to push it with the family in the car. They feel slightly mushy at low speeds under 40mph, but I've never lost traction. These are the best bang for the buck for a Toyota Yaris with 185 60 15 size tires

I spent about six months researching tires, finally chose the Destination LE2's, and they've been a great choice for the price. They're quiet and responsive on dry, wet, and mildly snowy roads. I didn't have to deal with any deep snow last winter but I don't have any reason to believe they'd be a problem. I haven't experienced any significant change in fuel milage. They handle well with an empty bed or with a cord of firewood, in the city or on the highway. Finding good road tires for a Ranger can be a challenge depending on how you use your truck, but I think most owners would be as pleased with these as I am.

Just finished 8th (yes, eighth) winter with this set running in Minneapolis/StPaul on a RWD 1999 Mercedes C280, my daily driver on a 10 mile round-trip 5-weekday commute. I bolt them on approx Dec 1 and pull them off approx April 15. Tread is half worn, if even that. Very heavy snowfall this past winter (toughest conditions I've seen in a decade). Tires performed perceptibly equal to first winter (2007,) which is to say excellent. Great value and service. Purchased as a tire/wheel set from Tire Rack in Jan 2007, as their recommended combo.

The Goodyear tires my Challenger came with were loud and didn't handle particularly well. These Firestone Wide Oval Indy 500 tires are great performing tires and are reasonably priced. They look good too. I am on my second set of them. After less than a year on the Goodyears the car came with, the first set of Firestones lasted 2 years and the current set is approaching 1 1/2. I've never been in the snow and don't intend to. They are fine in the rain, though they are definitely made for dry streets.

This is a great tire, but not great for this car and my driving style. I sized this -1 (factory OEM is 17"), and in doing so created the majority of my "gripes" I have with this tire. The size I bought it in has been discontinued.

I have been using snows for the past 20 years, and I've tried Blizzaks, Generals, Firestones, Goodyears, Dunlops. I average around 7K a year driving in the winter on snows.

Good: The tire is an exceptional snow tire. Period. Snow to this tire is a traction additive. Deep snow, slush, light snow - not a problem. The tire hangs on very well when set on a singular course in the dry. Reasonably quiet. Stable under braking.

Bad: If you're a normal driver (commuter), *obey* the speed limit, etc. 95% of the bad won't apply to you. Because it is an exceptional snow tire, it leaves a lot to be desired in the dry. This tire is heavily siped so the tread-blocks are squishy. Full throttle acceleration isn't advised.

The web is full of comments of people complaining about the soft sidewalls, which I didn't heed. The sidewalls are *soft* and as a result I feel the tire compress over bumps before the car does. Somewhat unsettling if your car is stiffly sprung like the WRX is as you feel it "pogo" over transitions. Should you need to do a quick transition at highway speeds it is a sphincter clinching event. Just plan on hitting whatever you're trying to avoid if you're doing anything over 40 - the tires are easily overwhelmed.

Conclusion:

- A GREAT SNOW TIRE
- Very soft sidewalls - not intended for "sportier" or "firmly damped" cars.
- Surprisingly good tread wear - I wore off less than 2/32nds in 6711 miles of driving.
- These are not Blizzaks - on ice you're pretty much on your own unless you get studs. Given the price, I wasn't expecting them to match a Blizzak's performance.

I hear a lot of complaints about the noise from these tires. I previously had Michelin's on the Camry. I put these Firehawks on when the Michelin's wore out. These tires are very quiet and have a comfortable ride. When you hit a corner hard they get loud almost like they are grabbing the road. I hit a 90 degree turn at 90 mph in my Camry with these tires and not even a squeal. They are very aggressive at grabbing the road. When you drive in the rain they put a mist shower behind you. For the money these tires are great if you want a high performance tire. They feel like a cheaper version of the Bridgestone Potenza to me which I had on my Accord. I couldn't be more pleased with these tires. the only complaint is they seem to wear down a little quick but that is expected with this type of tire. Generally only get 30-40 thousand miles from an aggressive tire like this. So in conclusion if you are an easy Sunday driver then look at another tire you wont be happy with this one. If you like to drive and play on the curvy roads and are looking for good value for your dollar buy these Firehawks.

Let me begin by saying I was (and am) a die-hard fan of the Firestone Winterforce for decades. For reasons I won't get into here I ended up with a set of Altimax Arctics instead of Winterforces. Let's just say I am SO GLAD I did. The Altimax's are better in every way! They go through anything, and are super quiet - even more so than the all season tires they replaced! They have extremely deep lugs (Probably 12/32nd's) and are a little squirmy when they're brand new but the tradeoff of being almost invincible during the winter months is worth it.

Wow, I have had these on my vehicle for almost four weeks now and I am impressed! Just took my winters off and had about three inches of show the day after my install. I have to say these handled the snow better than any other all seasons I have ever owned and they blow away the Firestone's that came on my vehicle from the factory. Great wet traction, good handling, quiet and comfortable. I would highly recommend these to anyone looking for a great Grand Touring All-Season tire. I am looking forward to piling on the miles!

I drive mostly highway, but much of it is on twisty canyon roads. On the rare occasion there isn't much traffic I get to put some cornering load into the tires. They do great, easy to make small adjustments and I don't get surprised. Turn in is prompt. I don't notice noise or drone. They do as well as the OEM Conti Contact at half the price. Will buy two more when the rear tires finally wear out.

I am a transporter and today I am at the Firestone store having another set of Transforce A/T's installed on my truck. In the past 6 months I put 70,000 miles on the tires and they never once let me down with excellent traction in all weather conditions. I pull a 20ft trailer usually loaded with 7,000 lbs on it and they work great - quiet and smooth ride, safe and secure feeling when driving in snow/ice conditions. It is a great relief to not have to worry about rain, snow, ice and sand when driving is my job across the lower 48 states.

What a refreshing change from our old tires. I never thought I'd buy Firestones after their problems over the years, but these came recommended and... they're an almost unbelievable combination of very quiet, exceptional responsiveness, high corning limits (okay I don't explore the handling limits too much in a Town and Country, but the van definitely handles better than ever), great wet traction (my wife complained a lot about this van in the rain for 8 years, but not now), snow traction (good, for the first time in the eight years we've had this van. I really couldn't be happier. I sure hope these tires last a long time, because driving on them is a pleasure. One thing I have noticed is that the sipes (the very small grooves in the tread) only go about half way down, so I'm wondering how much the snow and wet traction will diminish as the tires wear.
Incidentally, this van came from the factory with Yokohamas, which wore quickly, were awful in the snow and rain, and were kind of mushy handling. I replaced them with BFGoodrich Traction TAs after a good experience with them in an older tread pattern - they were noisy, had bad wet and snow traction, wore pretty quickly and I had a defective one.
I was determined to get a really good tire on my van - I thought I would buy Michelin Defenders, but I think the Firestones are a superior tire.
And no, I don't work for Firestone.

At 64k, I'm still debating whether to replace the tires !!!(still a decent amount of tread). Just like any stock tire I've owned, the noise level increased as the tires aged. Most of the wet, hydro & snow issues are more due to the "toy" size of my HHR (which I love for roominess & mpg's)

Initial Review, 3,200 Miles on Tires
March 26, 2014

Purchased four of these tires for an old 1995 Subaru Impreza L AWD daily driver. My main concerns for new tires was superior snow/ice handling, acceptable/above average wet handling, and above average dry traction with a great tread-life while keeping prices low. After I did extensive research and comparison charts I purchased the Firestone Precision Touring tires right as winter was in full force.

*In the snow/ice, the tires handle extremely well. I was driving around plow trucks with ease and mated with the AWD, was truly unstoppable this winter. Once the snow hit a few inches, the tires still gripped and when they did give way to sliding, were extremely predictable, allowing me to counter-steer with ease.
*Wet handling is acceptable, though not the greatest, but is not a reason to dismiss the tire, as it is still very predictable in those hazards.
*Dry traction and responsiveness are perfect with the only downside to cornering stability, which I believe is the weakest point of the tires. It can feel as if the tire would give way or takes a second to find the road when cornering. Despite this harsh review; it is actually on par with other tires for dry cornering in this price range.
*As to tread-wear, I cannot speak as to the performance of the category since I have not had the tires long enough.
*The comfort level is great. The tires take harsh bumps without any real complaints; in fact, I believe that I could have potentially bent a rim in lieu of popping a tire, of course due to the enormous potholes that plagued PA and DE (the Northeast Snow Belt area) this winter.
*Price - $77.00 a tire, which didn't break the bank for an old car but was well worth it.

Overall, I was looking for some affordable tires that would give me the best points of all-season tires, with increased winter time performance. The Firestone's came through and I will definitely purchase again, pending the outcome of the tread-wear. I would highly recommend them.
