Initial Review, 8,000 Miles on Tires
March 30, 2014

I got this tires back in the fall and have driven little over 8,000 miles on them. 60/40 highway/city driving. Right away I noticed these tires grip the road incredibly well. Of course a new tire is going to be better than your old tire with no tread left. But I think because these tires are brand new from Firestone the rubber was very soft, which gives it the great grip on the road. I would almost categorize these as summer tires, but they did perform well this past crazy winter in Chicago.
There is one HUGE negative about these tires though, my MPG has gone WAY down. I mean by 5mpg down! That is a lot. Everything else about these tires are great, but because of the mpg loss I would not buy again and would not recommend these unless you don't care about money at the pump.

I don't normally write reviews on something unless I really like the product or hate it. These are just great tires. Yeah they aren't "truck" tires, but my ego can take it. The tradeoffs are well worth it. I had stock Michelin LTXs. I thought those were pretty good tires (if you can ignore the cracking) but these Firestones are just wonderful as far as ride quality and quietness. I will definitely be rotating and balancing every 5-6K, because that's so crucial to keeping all sorts of problems at bay tire-wise. So glad I chose these tires. Thumbs up Firestone, you got this one right!

So far I am very impressed with these Firestone Precision Touring tires. If you live in a climate that experiences ice and snow on a regular basis, these tires are a very good choice! Wet and dry traction is also very good. The ride is smooth and the noise level is also quite good. They are a little noisy at first but after a few hundred miles they quiet down. For the price these tires are an excellent value. I can`t attest for the tire wear yet but will update later on after I put more miles on them.

If you want a good winter tire, look no farther you won't find one,In my opinion of driving in snow country for almost 50 years the Winterforce is one of the best tires I have ever used. A word of advice, just because you have snow tires don't mean you can drive on snow like bare roads YOU CAN'T.

TWO FOOT SNOW DRIFTS IN 4WD HIGH AND 6-8 INCHES OF UNCLEARED SNOW OR ICE WILL NOT STOP VEHICLE. I HAVE YET TO USE 4WD LOW AT ALL FOR THE 2014 WINTER. I was torn between these tires and and the Firestone Winterforce. I had the Winterforce tires on another vehicle of mine which was a Buick Lesabre the Winterforce made my Lesabre a tank in the snow I always felt safe and in control in any winter driving condition but the tires had to be switched out after winter. I wanted a winter tire that had some all season characteristics so I took a chance on these Goodyears and was immediately impressed they were quieter than the BF Goodrich tire that I had just taken off the car the sidewall is softer than an all-season tire but that is to be expected. I previously had Michelin's winter ice tires on this car for twice the cost the only thing I can say that was better about the Michelins they had a stiffer sidewall. These Goodyear tires so far have more then met my expectations. We have been hammered with lots of snow and sub zero temps in Minnesota this year and the Goodyears have performed flawlessly. I can't recommend these tires enough!

I have these on my 2011 Miata, with a 6-speed manual and LSD. While their dry pavement traction is not quite as good as the Bridgestone summer tires that came with the car, these are probably the best all seasons I've ever had on a Miata (and I've been driving Miatas since 1996). I've previously used Bridgestone, Firestone, and Toyo all-seasons. My Miata is my only car, so parking it in bad weather isn't an option. I haven't had them long enough to truly judge wear, but they seem to be ok so far. While they were fairly quiet when brand new, I agree that they are becoming somewhat noisy. The ride is much less harsh than prior tires, probably due to somewhat softer sidewalls, but I still have a great amount of grip, and feel confident during hard cornering. This winter is the worst we've had in years, but I've never had any real trouble with traction. At about 45 mph on packed snow and ice, I tried to get the car out of shape using only the steering wheel, but was unable to do so. When I did break loose using the throttle, it was very controllable. In about 7 inches of snow on an unplowed parking lot, I had no trouble moving the car at all. I have never tried winter tires, so I can't do that comparison, but as long as you don't get too rambunctious, these tires do the job. I will also say that I really like their grip on both wet and dry pavement. When reading some of the negative comments on this tire, I almost wonder if they're reviewing the same tire, unless this tire performs that much differently from car to car. All I can say is that I'm very pleased with this tire. If this winter becomes the trend, I may get a set of winter tires, but barring that, I feel these are a really good tire for those who want to stick with all-seasons for their car.

After so much struggle trying to find the right tire, I saw a video on you tube about the Winterforce tires. I was so impressed with the performance that I did a little more research and decided to try these tires. I am so glad I did!!!! for real!!!! Got them installed on our 2002 Ford Windstar last November for my wife and kids. We are so glad we did. This 2014 snow and Ice has been one of the worst for us. My wife drives to work and school and feels secure as these tires grip it's far one of the best. Sine I work about a 1/2 hour away from my house i have piece of mind knowing that my wife can drive under any weather conditions. I recommend them to anyone!!!!!!!!!!

These tires are a great choice for a light truck. I have over 60000 miles on this set, and I will be ordering another set within a week or two. I drive a combination of highway and city, and during the winter, some occasional snow driving. The tires have performed very well in all conditions. They are reasonably quiet, look great, and you simply can't beat the mileage. Look not further friends...these are the best...not only in performance, but also in price!

February 22, 2014

Just went through one of the worst winter storms in Minnesota/Wisconsin. Had to drive to the airport in Minnesota. These tires handled the ice on the freeway very well. The Off ramps were not plowed on the way home. The first off ramp to not be plowed was getting off of I-694 to HWY 36 snow was at least a foot deep. Yes I put my trusty Dodge Durango in 4H and and let er rip, I had my doubts about this tire and no longer do handled that off ramp like a champ. Then came the fun part.... I live in rural Wisconsin and when I got close to home ...no roads had been plowed, again had to put the old Durango in 4H and plow through about a mile and a half of snow drift that were about four feet high, it was a scary ride but these Firestone's did not have a problem with the high drifts and got me home bottom line. I was thinking of getting a pure A/T tire but now know these LE 2 tires out performed what I thought they could do. Nice tire !! If they keep it the same I will be buying these tires again when the time comes no need to research again.

Got these on my new Fj Cruiser. Glad I did, we got a lot of snow this winter in the mountains of Montana. About 50% of my driving is back country driving on dirt roads that are many times either unplowed, icy, or slushy. I got these tires studded and they have worked very impressively. They work fine on the highway also, but a bit noisy with the studs. Great tires for the FJ!

Got these tires on my Yukon when I bought it. The tires were obviously not new. I remember about half the tread remained when I bought the car. Amazingly, It took twice as long as I thought it would to get to the wear bar on these! I put 40,000 HARD miles on these tires, with half their tread. I tow a trailer, I go off-roading, i commute, I work out of this truck, I go on long trips. No matter what, this tire on this vehicle took anything I threw at it and asked for more. I only got stuck twice with these tires off roading. Both times I was somewhere I had no business being. Once was in the sand dunes in the Outer Banks, the other was at an off road park in a 12" mud bog. Clearly i exceeded the limit of my tire and vehicle setup! But on pack sand at the beach, rocky trails, gravel mountain roads, in DC city traffic, or any other off-road situation, the tire performed beautifully. ON the highway, the tire was respectably quiet, smooth and wore EXCEPTIONALLY well. Some of my surprise is that I am used to performance cars that need tires about 3x as often, but this 60,000 mile tire was worth every penny and I bought a set of LE2's to replace these. Stand by for a review of those!

Initial Review, 100 Miles on Tires
March 01, 2014

Just put these Firestone Destination LE2's on, replacing the Michelin Latitude Touring tires that came with the Jeep. What an improvement!! With the Latitude's I was slipping and sliding all over the place - couldn't corner at all and even on straightaways I could feel the Jeep swaying and sliding - they felt dangerous! These LE2's are awesome - a night and day difference! We had about 2 inches of snow last night, so I could immediately compare the 2 tires. On the way to the tire store I was sliding all over, on the way back I tried very hard to get them to slip and slide. There was still some slipping and sliding of course (I was pushing these tires to see what the "breakaway" point was) but the difference was clearly noticeable. It's great to feel like I can go around a corner at more than 5 miles an hour, and change lanes on the highway without gripping the wheel with both hands and hoping I didn't end up in a ditch or facing oncoming traffic the wrong way. This Wisconsin winter has been rough but with these tires I'll be able to face what's left of it without feeling like I may die any second. There was no tire noise (same as the Michelin's) and the ride was great, but now I feel safe driving my Jeep!

I've driven 57,000 miles on these tires in just about 3.5 years on my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I didn't notice any significant tread wear. I'm glad I came here to read reviews and tire ratings before purchasing these tires. They are a little noisy, but that's a combination of the tires and the age of my vehicle with the lack of soundproofing in the cab I'm sure. Also, I have them balanced and rotated (free of charge) every 6-8K miles and alignment if necessary as part of the dealer/installation agreement. They are amazing in the snow/ice and rain. Best tires I've had for sure. Hoping to get another 50K out of these tires. Miles on my Jeep, 160K. Excellent Tires, will be buying for my wife's new Jeep Liberty as well.

I really liked the drive smooth and nice ride had to drive when it was snowing for two hours and it did not slip a bit averaging around 50 miles an hour on about 1 to 2 inches of snow been driving in the northeast snow so far happy, only thing i noticed was a slight drop in mileage since I fitted this from my Michelin Cross terrain.

10k miles on the tires , Noise level is low to none. Depends on the road surface.
Gas milage is not as good as the O.E.M firestone By 1.25 mi per gal. Tire wear shows none. Tire friction a little higher than O.E.M. firestones . The T.P.Ms would show more tire pressure while driving hiway than the O.E.M. firestones. I would recommend there tires. Great tires, A great value
