Still buying tires after 26 years.

Wednesday, February 17, 2010 by Tim Joines
It is great to hear from happy customers. Especially when they have been with us for 26 years and that we also have the opportunity to help the next generation with their tire and wheel needs.

Here is nice feedback from a customer regarding a recent tire purchase:

“I have purchased through Tire Rack since the first ad I saw in Car and Driver back around 1982 or 83....the Rack has always offered a great price point and until very recently I've been quite loyal, have always recommended them to others due primarily to their winter Tire/Wheel Packages.

Well my son who is a college sophomore brought me back to you guys when his 86 Toyota Celica GTS needed snows ASAP as the 205/60-R14 BFGoodrich Traction T/A H tires on 7" alloys just weren't getting it done for their second snow season, and the offerings in a 14" are extremely limited elsewhere.

He is commuting from Shaftesbury, MA (high elevation, 13 "S" curves) to Enfield, CT. It is about as treacherous and varied as you could experience in New England.

General Tire Altimax Arctic Winter tire, Snow tireAlex at Tire Rack walked me through my son's selection of the General Altimax Arctic and helped us choose a 185-65 R 14 for the 6" steelies that we had, have proven to be the best (studable, but un-studded) snow tire in the family.

This tire has so far exceeded my son's experience w/other studded snow tires.

From the fitment call at 11:15 AM to Alex, the follow-up emails, and confirmation, to him making it easy to arrange pick-up at the Windsor Locks warehouse facility during a lunch break, the folks were all awesome.

Right down to the shipper at the dock who met me w/a stack of tires as I backed into the dock. WOW....such service. leaving the facility by 12:45PM, and having my favorite local tire installer mount and balance for me that afternoon, and installed on my son's car the that evening for his commute to work from school.

Thanks Alex and Tire Rack, your customer service rocks.

PS: TXT from my son after the Storm last night......These new snows DESTROY. OMG it's all ice w snow on top now and it’s like dry pavement I want a subie with them Muhahahah.

Tire Rack has re-established a benchmark for customer service for this service. -- Steve in Massachusetts”

I’ve only been with the company since 1987 so Steve is more loyal than I am.

Buy Competition Tires Online at the Tire Rack and have them Heat Cycled Prior to Shipping

Friday, February 12, 2010 by Chad Hocker
Try Heat Cycling the easy way at Tire Rack.  As today's race tires become the technology base for tomorrow's street and competition tires the care and break-in of a tire have become more methodical and are important to do correctly.  The Tire Rack has developed a Heat Cycling service ($15 each) for competition tires purchased through the Tire Rack.  Basically, a proper Heat Cycling of a new competition tire will allow the rubber bonds to relink in a more uniform manner from when they were originally manufactured.  This allows the tire to preform at more consistent performance level for a longer time.

The Tire Rack will stamp your tire As Tire Rack Heat cycled prior to shipping them out.  Check out some of the Heat Cycling process and take a look at theHeat Cycling Process at Tire Rack picture of a tire being Heat Cycled at the Tire Rack.  Also if you by a performance tire and wheel package selecting the heat cycling service we will Heat Cycle your tire using one of our wheels to prevent any possible damage to your new performance wheel or track wheels.  We'll then mount your newly heat cycled tire on your new wheels and get them on the way!  The transit time will allow enough time for the rubber to efficiently relax. Heat Cycling can be added at the time of check out.

BFGoodrich tires make big jump in Grand Touring All-Season category.

Wednesday, February 10, 2010 by Tire Rack Team
As you know, we collect consumer feedback. It gets factored into our Tire Survey Results which help you identify top selling tires. Recently, this feedback positively affected a set of BFGoodrich tires—which tells us they're performing really well.

The BFGoodrich Advantage T/A made a significant jump in rank, moving from sixth place to second on the Grand Touring All-Season survey results chart. We can attribute this to improved deep snow and ice traction ratings. Hydroplaning resistance, dry traction and ride comfort continue to be "superior."

You'll want to check out this type of information before you buy BF Goodrich tires—or any tires, for that matter. But first, you'll need to know what tires fit your vehicle. Will it be the newly ranked BFGoodrich Advantage T/A? Search now.

Jeep Tires

Wednesday, January 6, 2010 by Tire Rack Team
Jeep owners love to take their vehicles off-road for some fun in the mud or sand. But to do so, you'll need the right kind of tires or you'll just get stuck. The 2010 Jeep Wrangler at right features an LT255/75R-17 tire size, which we've outfitted with BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM Off-Road Maximum Traction tires.

But a simple search by vehicle produces a list with a few more options, like the Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor (On-/Off-Road All-Terrain) or the Wrangler SR-A (though this option is a Highway All-Season tire and might not work as well in off-road situations).

BF Goodrich Reviews: Our customers give you their two cents before you spend yours.

Tuesday, December 29, 2009 by Tire Rack Team

Second opinions count, and since we value what our consumers have to say, we're more than willing to give you theirs. That said, we've got over 9,319 BFGoodrich reviews in our vault of Tire Rack Consumer Reviews. For example, the BF Goodrich Mud Terrain T/A KM2 section houses the following:

"The KM2s were stock on my '09 Rubicon Unlimited and I was worried about the ride quality. That stopped about 10 miles into my first drive. These tires are awesome! I've never had a set of off-road tires EVER ride this nice, respond so quickly, or behave so well." -- Tire Rack Consumer Review, Jeep Wrangler, TX

"Early this year I was out late and a sudden snow storm came in, we came outside to leave and there was 6 inches covering everything, but while others were getting pulled out on the freeway we motored home safely. On the gravel road that I drive daily, these tires don't seem to pick up as many rocks as other mud tires I have owned, and that is a big + for me." -- Tire Rack Consumer Review, Dodge Ram 2500, WA

Mustang Tires Made Easy

Monday, December 14, 2009 by Tire Rack Team
The Ford Mustang is an icon. New or old, this pony car is sleek, stylish, and incredibly fast. If you drive yours with aggressive zest, you just might need a new pair of Mustang tires. Search our inventory according to your Mustang's model and year, and we'll produce an appropriate list of tires. It is, after all, extremely important that the tires on your vehicle be a perfect match to the vehicle itself and the roads it's typically driven on. Not only is it a safety issue, but the wrong tire can adversely affect vehicle performance and handling.

Here's an example: If you drive a 2010 Ford Mustang GT with an Original Equipment tire size of 235/50-18, we'd recommend the following best-sellers:

BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDWS: "Great tire for my Mustang GT. This is the best tire I have used for all four seasons. If you're looking for an All-Season tire, look no further!!! Firm sidewalls, never gets flat spots, bites in the rain and on cold roads, sticky in the summer...and the tire looks really good." — Tire Rack Consumer Review, Mustang GT, OH

Goodyear Eagle GT: "All I can say is that I am extremely impressed by the performance of these tires in dry and wet condition. It is downpouring in OK right now, and these tires are doing an excellent job of staying planted...the tires are silent and as of yet, I have not one negative thing to say about them and can't imagine a tire being much better." — Tire Rack Consumer Review, Mustang GT, OK

Low Profile Tires

Wednesday, December 9, 2009 by Tire Rack Team
If you drive a sporty coupe or sedan, you'll appreciate the performance benefits of a low profile tire. Thanks to a shorter sidewall, these tires handle curves, corners and turns with tight precision and control. But that same sidewall slightly compromises ride comfort because less rubber means less flexibility. When it's all about performance, though, take a look at the following (available in low profile sizes):

BFGoodrich g-Force Sport (Ultra High Performance Summer)
"These tires are quiet whether you are cruising or really pushing it, almost no noise. They stick like glue to the road wet or dry. I mean really stick. I am now able to corner at faster speeds with confidence and I must say that after 17,000 miles they look much better than any I have ever owned after the beating I put on them." Tire Rack Consumer Review, Nissan Sentra, AZ

Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 (Max Performance Summer)
"The Hankooks have really improved the feel of my car—the ride is smooth while still sporty, and it's so much more quiet. They grip dry roads...and the few times I've had it in the rain, whether a downpour or just a sprinkle, the RX-8 stuck to the road and gave me a lot of confidence." Tire Rack Consumer Review, Mazda RX-8, OH
