These tires are astonishingly good. They are everything an SUV tire should be. I put 65,000 miles on mine and they were probably good for another 15-20K. I drove them in 14+ inch blizzards, on sand in 100-degree heat and on potholed urban pavement and they never let me down. The only small trade-off for all this excellence is that they are a bit on the noisy side, which almost an unfair criticism for an all-terrain tire. BF Goodrich really hit one out of the park with this one.

Initial Review, 15000 Miles on Tires
April 24, 2011

Bought these tires when I was living in Florida. They went on the wife's car. First thing she told me after driving the car was that the steering is broken. The tires are inflated at the right PSI but they do make the car very jumpy. At times, if there are bumps in the road, you think you will jump in the next lane. It wasn't a big deal since the roads in Florida are very good quality, but since I moved to halifax, Canada, oh boy. Their city roads are terrible with huge craters. The car jumps all over the place. I am thinking to lower to pressure to 29-30 PSI, but I don't want to have a blow-out either. The tires are very good in puddles and decent in snow if the car is driven carefully. (this is a FWD car also). I can probably get about 55,000 miles out of the tires since their wear is very good. They are not too loud either. The Goodyear Integrity that came with the car were much softer than the BF Goodrich and the car was not jumping from lane to lane but they were not good in the rain at all. At every stop light, those Goodyears were slipping like crazy. The BF Goodrich on the other hand have very good traction in the wet, or dry. Just make sure the roads are smooth were you drive most, otherwise you will have to get used to the jumping. They must have very hard rubber. For the price, they are good tires.

I've had Goodyear, Michelin, BF Goodrich, Kelly, Dunlop, Toyo - on both this vehicle and on a Toyota Sienna. For the money, the best tire on the market today - hands down. Well made, great traction when you need it - a "true All Season radial" - and I'm putting 4 new ones on my Sienna, because they're also great snow tires.

Had Michelin's but they wear out so fast - and considering it's $100 more per tire to get Michelein, I'm sticking with these. Great Spring/Summer - long trip tire as well.

After thoroughly researching which tire to buy for my F-250 I decided to give the Goodyear Silent Armor a try. So far they have been great. Traction on snow and ice is much better than with the BF Goodrich Rugged Trail that came with the truck. I was a little concerned about the agressive tread on the Silent Armors, but if anything they are quiter than the BFG and the truck seems to ride smoother too (the new tires are load range E just like the OEM tires). My truck has a gas engine so there is no diesel to drown out the sound of the tires and there is little to no noise from the tires. I will report back on how they wear once I have some more miles on them.

As a traveling medical professional my truck has to run in all road conditions. I have been in the mountains of Montana, Colorado, Wyoming and South Dakota and never had a problem getting traction. The past two years, I have been n Minnesota and Northern Iowa, where snow and ice are the normal. The traction has been unbelievable, snow and ice are not a problem. I orginally had BF goodrich ATO tires and though they did have benefits, the Firestone AT tires have less noise and equal amount of traction. I will buy another set of these when they wear out. Good value and they work!!

Initial Review, 33000 Miles on Tires
December 12, 2011

I bought these tires to replace the lousy OEM BF Goodrich set that came with the truck. Wow what a difference! Dry, wet, snow, mud ... the traction has been outstanding. Even in just 2wd, the tires grab better then the BFGs ever did in 4wd - in conditions where the vehicle wouldn't even move with the stock tires. I was looking for a good street tire that would also perform well in off-road conditions. I have driven in snow deep enough to cause the front bumper to "snow plow", without any issues (probably more that a foot). They have gotten slightly noisier with age, but what tire doesn't. Also, very shortly after purchasing the tire, I got a razor blade from a razor knife stuck in one of the treads, and it broke off deep in the tread. I was worried that I would have to replace the tire - but the tire has NEVER leaked! How is that for a tough tire! I will buy another set when these wear out, although I am concerned that they dont make my exact size anymore.

BFGoodrich Rugged Terrain T/A: Highway All-Season or All-Terrain?

Thursday, December 8, 2011 by Hunter Leffel
BFGoodrich Rugged Terrain T/AThe new BFGoodrich Rugged Terrain T/A is built for adventure.

It has been classified as a Highway All-Season tire, however its tread pattern may suggest it belongs in a category with all-terrain tires. The goal was to create a versatile and capable tire unlike anything else in the marketplace. While having rugged off-road appeal, the use of innovative tread design elements provides a comfortable and quiet ride. The Rugged Terrain T/A fills the gap between a purely on-road tire and those targeting the off-road trail. This bold design is no poser, with its wrap around rugged tread you'll have ample capability for those few times you go off-road.

The tire features a tread compound designed to resist cut and chips from gravel. Rubber reinforcement pads are employed to push lodged stones out of the tread, preventing stone drilling. Wet traction was an area of intense focus for BFGoodrich during the design process and you will notice they succeeded by creating two wide circumferential grooves that reduce hydroplaning, while a new rubber compound delivers improved overall wet traction.

Not any less important than rugged good looks and wet traction are comfort and noise. BFGoodrich put their computers to work by creating jagged edge grooves in each set of these BF Goodrich tires that help trap noise. The Rugged Terrain T/A also features a 50,000 mile limited treadlife warranty.

What Truck Tires Are Best in Snow?

Thursday, December 1, 2011 by Alex Mouroulis
Many SUV and truck owners need excellent snow and ice traction. In some cases, it's not practical to have a dedicated set of winter / snow tires, therefore I'd like to showcase a few tires that perform well during all seasons while maintaining great snow traction. Each snow tire, as well as the following all weather options from BFGoodrich, General and Goodyear are marked with a mountain/snowflake symbol. To learn more about the mountain/snowflake symbol, read "How to Confirm a Winter Performer."

Take a look at what customers are saying about their experience with these On-/Off-Road All-Terrain tires:

"I have put 80,000+ on this set of BFGs and they are still going strong. I had a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee before and I put 93,000 on those. I live in Michigan and I hardly use my four-wheel drive in the winter. I tow a 16 foot enclosed trailer, my friends 21 foot boat sometimes. Deep snow, slush, mud and sand are not a problem. These tires respond very well to the load and handle them with ease. The rim protector is great for protecting your rims from curbs. The trick to getting the mileage out of theses tires is to rotate them every 5,000-6,000 miles. I do plan on buying another set here once mine wear out. As the saying goes 'Why mess with something that works?' These tires have been proven through the years on-road and off-road.
" -- Tire Rack Consumer Review, 2003 Dodge Durango 4WD (BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO)
How to Confirm a Winter Performer
"I originally bought these when I had a selectable 4WD Explorer and never had to use 4WD during the winter and always had excellent traction. Now I have them on an AWD Explorer and they make the AWD traction, in any weather, insanely good. There is some tire noise which is expected and personally doesn't bother me at all. Advice on these tires, have them rotated and balanced every 5,000 miles to keep the treadwear even and these tires will last a long time. The tires also made my SUV look more aggressive compared to the previous tires that were on it, and have had a few people comment on them." -- Tire Rack Consumer Review, 2000 Ford Explorer (General Grabber AT 2)

"I had a set of these on my 2004 2500 Silverado. They were the best tires I've ever had. I literally got 65,000 miles out of them and NEVER had a flat. Mine are 10 plys but I drive in absolutely miserable conditions. Frequently on scrap steel sites which destroyed other tires. Frequently towing heavy loads. Frequently overloaded. Driving on mountain roads. These are more expensive than other 10 plys out there in the same size range but I will stick with the Wrangler SA. They are worth it." -- Tire Rack Consumer Review, 2004 Chevrolet Silverado C2500HD Crew (Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor)

If you decide to buy BF Goodrich tires, Goodyears or Generals this winter, be sure to look for that mountain/snowflake symbol!

Now is a Good Time to Read Some BF Goodrich Reviews

Wednesday, September 1, 2010 by Chad Hocker
Now is a good time to read some tire reviews on BFGoodrich Tires as there is a $60 mail-in offer on select sets of four BFGoodrich tires now through September 23rd.

Let's look at some tire reviews from consumers on the Performance Tires.
  • BFGoodrich g-Force R1 (Track & Competition DOT)
"Great bang for the buck. I read "like a rolling pin on wheels" also "black super glue" I do concur! I do pity da fools behind me at the track." -- Tire Rack Consumer Review

  • BFGoodrich g-Force Sport (Ultra High Performance Summer)
"Superb handling. I hit the kink at Road America at 115mph in my street car and felt no loss of stability, they have excellent grip and very decent rain traction surprisingly. I expected these tires to last a summer (1-2 lap days a year and 10,000 miles commuting to work) but after a full year I've gone through an entire set of brakes and the tires are still like new. This is an extremely sticky and competitive tire for the street and I've been very happy on it." -- Tire Rack Consumer Review

  • BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KWD2 (Ultra High Performance Summer)
"So far, so good. Great handling and traction, great in the rain, aggressive looking tread pattern, not too noisy, and not too harsh of a ride. Not many miles on them, but no complaints yet. Only used from spring to fall--once the daily temperatures stay below 40 degrees Fahrenheit I swap on the winter tires...for now I will say these are possibly the best summer tires available, especially considering the price." -- Tire Rack Consumer Review

BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO

Friday, August 27, 2010 by Steve Huffman
Last week I spoke with a customer who was getting his Dodge Ram ready for hunting season. He was telling me how poorly his Original Equipment tires performed when it was time to get through the mud and dirt out in the field and how many times he got stuck. Naturally, he asked what I would recommend for off-road use. My go-to off-road tire of choice is the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO.

This tire has been around for many years, is a proven winner and is often asked for by name. They feature a very aggressive tread design to help get through the off-road elements and do exceptionally well in deep snow. Odds are they are in the size you need since they are offered in dozens of sizes from 14- to 22-inch wheel diameters.

Muscle Car Tires

Friday, August 20, 2010 by Steve Huffman
Got American muscle you're restoring? Looking to bring back the retro look with period-correct tires and raised white letters? Tire Rack has you covered. Last week I was watching one of the car auctions on TV and couldn't help but pay attention to what tires were on the cars.

One muscle car after another either had the BF Goodrich Radial T/A, the Goodyear Eagle GT II or the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500. Each of these white letter tires come in a variety of 14- and 15-inch sizes for the Chevelles, Novas, Camaros, Mustangs and other muscle cars. These tires are always in demand and look great, too.

Survey says....Kumho!

Wednesday, June 9, 2010 by Tucker Glenn
This week we road tested four Ultra High Performance Summer Tires on our 6.6 mile real world road test. I drove on four different tires from this category: the new Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500, the Yokohama S.drive, the BF Goodrich g-Force Sport, and the Kumho Ecsta SPT KU31. The road ride has a mixture of highway driving, rough expansion joints, smooth roads and my favorite...the on/off ramp!

Firestone's new model, the Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500 did a nice job covering up some of the harsh expansion joints and some of the smaller cracks in the road. In my opinion, it let loose just a bit on the off ramp, but all around is a good addition to the category.

The Yokohama S.drive started out with a low drone as that didn't seem to get much better as I drove. However, it did do a nice job of handling the car on the off ramp. It did feel a little rough on the expansion joints, but not too bad.

The BF Goodrich g-Force Sport tire had a growling noise from the start. And it would get louder over different types of pavement. The ride was fairly comfortable, but I could feel the tires give a little when pushed on the off ramp.

That brings us to my winner...the Kumho Ecsta SPT KU31. While there was a little road noise, it was able to fade into the background and didn't become a distraction. This tire was the best over the big expansion joints for ride comfort, and I felt very in control on the off ramp.

We'll see how the tests shake out from the rest of our team, but my vote goes for the Kumho!

BFGoodrich Tires!

BF Goodrich Radial TA

Back in the day, my first car was a 1981 Buick Regal with the infamous 3.8 litre engine (120K miles and working on its third engine). I saved up my pennies and replaced the Goodyear Eagle ST tires with BF Goodrich Radial T/A. These tires were great. I felt like the curves were straightened and I'm sure the car was faster. Funny thing, everytime I washed it, it felt quicker too.

Those Radial T/As are still some of my favorites tires evoking memories of days gone by.

BFGoodrich Truck Tires

Friday, May 21, 2010 by Chad Hocker
BFGoodrich off-road tires have that classic timeless look to them. I had an oversized set on my old truck and had no problems at all with them.

These tires have been around a long time and still consistently perform well against modern On-/Off-Road All-Terrain tires. Our BF Goodrich Reviews from consumers on the All-Terrain T/A KO have collected over 77 million miles of survey results. A recent trend seems to be newer All Terrain tires coming out with less aggressive tread patterns for the consumer that wants the look off an All Terrain tire but does not go off road that often. The Bf Goodrich All Terrain -- or if you wanted to get even more aggressive with the BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tires -- are more aggressive compared to others in the category. Both BF Goodrich Tires have been tried and proven in the real world shown through user reviews at Tire Rack.

"It's a Jeep thing"

Project Jeep Before

After a couple years of driving the 05 Jeep Wrangler, my wife has decided it is time to upgrade the wheels and tires on it to personalize her ride. She has decided to allow me to pick out the tires and wheels, so how wide and how tall do we go with it and what kind of tires will she actually be happy with in the long run? Here are some key factors that will weigh into our decision.

We do not want to go too tall and risk a top heavy feel. They must offer great traction on the road and be fairly comfortable for a daily driver (it may never see an off-road application) but at the same time offer the desired look for the Jeep.

So let the search begin.

I have selected the 265/70-16 size to allow for possible future lifting without leaving the wheel well too vacant.
bfg

I have always been a fan of the BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO (On-/Off-Road All-Terrain) and the looks vs. performance as well as the feedback from customers in the customer review tab @ tirerack.com will make it the tire of choice for this project to be paired with the Dick Cepek DC-1 16X8 with a -12 offset (which should keep me just inside the wheel well and looking good without making any major modifications to the Jeep).

Stay tuned...I will post the after pics early next week and give a review of the effect.
