Initial Review, 8000 Miles on Tires

The first thing I noticed when I got these tires was the tread pattern. It has a great combination of street vs lug tread design. The only fault I have with this tire is that I think it will only be good for severe weather for only half it's tread life. Otherwise I really love this tire and would buy it again if it is still around the next time I need them.
My comparison is with the original BF Goodrich T/A's which s--ked big time. With he Kumho's bouncing between expansion joints disappeared, turing the steering wheel is finally a joy, and I can actually hear my radio at a normal level. Yes the Kumho have made driving the truck so much fun even the wife is no longer afraid to drive it.
I waited to write this until I experienced every traction situation. For a truck dry traction is extremely good. Taking a spirited corner doesn't inspire white knuckles.
The next traction comments about wet, ice, and snow are based on the bed being empty. In the rain these tire hold the road very well and find pavement very quicly when the need arises. Taking off from a dead start will cause the tires to spin, but let off the gas and they'll bit the road. This is true in snow driving too. The tread pattern shed water quickly making puddles, large and small, seem non-exsistent.
Fresh deep snow is not nearly as challenging as light or packed snow. These tires behave very well in fresh snow. If I mind-my-manors the latter stuff presents no problems while out accelerate everyone. Yes I can get the backend to let loose, but it is very quick to straighten out and not wip side-to-side. I do love the fun things a vehicle can do in the snow. I have yet to push these tires beyound their limits which so far is pretty high. Yes I'm the guy you'd say going to end up in the ditch, but I still haven't found that one with my name on it.
My last comment is about the tires Rev's per mile. It's less the OE tires and therefore your speedo is going to be off.

I was initially a bit leery as the OEM tires on this vehicle were low-end Goodyears with very poor wet ability that I ditched with only 1000 miles on them when I moved to BF Goodrich Traction T/As for their responsiveness and wet capabilities (I live is a VERY rainy area - near Seattle, WA).

I've been VERY pleased with these Goodyears, however: Excellent wet and dry traction, good resistance to hydroplaning, reasonable traction in light to medium snow, and incredibly quiet, comfortable ride.

The "turn-in" or "cut-in" is no where near as crisp as the BFGs, it almost feels as if there is a delay somehow built in, but the cornering and straight-line stability is phenomenal. A very easy tire to drive on the highway. Doesn't nibble, is amazingly quiet and smooth, and somehow reduces the need for near constant corrections. Very smooth over road imperfections.

For spirited driving, they are somewhat sluggish, and feel "heavy." For more moderate driving styles, they are fantastic.

Glad I bought 'em, will definitely buy them again.

Previously had BF Goodrich tires which were 50% + worn after 12 K mi. The Kumhos show little if any wear. Car handles great, very pleased with tires. Can't imagine how one reviewer could wear out these tires in less than 10K.

These are expensive tires, so my expectations were high to begin with. I still can't believe how smooth these tires ride. They are way smoother and quieter than I expected, especially for high performance summer tires. Handling and grip is up there with other high performance summer tiires I've had (Bridgestone, BF Goodrich, Michelin, Yokohama). We haven't had that much rain, and I'm back on all-season tires for the winter, so I can't really talk too much about performance in the rain. Based on how they are wearing so far, I'm expecting to get 25,000 - 35,000 miles on them. Back on my OE A/S P-zero Pirelli's, I'm reminded what average tires are like ..... They're average. I bought these when they first came out and paid pretty much top dollar. I have no regrets and am happy to pay a couple of hundred dollars more for a set great tires. I plan to buy these again, when I need new tires.

Excellent set of tires on dry wet or snow, the best set of tires I had on my AUDI (third one, first two were BF Goodrich & Bridgestone) I hope the wear equals the quality I have found in these set up till now, definitely the best tire I had on my car yet!

This is an excellent on/off road tire. It provides superior hydroplaning resistance in the rain and good traction off road. It handles heavy loads without trouble. The Generals provide good traction in the mud as well. Why pay more for the BF Goodrich tires? These do the job nicely.

I replaced a pair of BF GOODRICH G-FORCE SUPER SPORT A/S tires with the Conti Extreme Contact DWS. I have appx. 1,500 miles on the Conti's and feel that I have a handle on their attributes. First, they feel like a tire that I will be able to get high-mileage from. They ride relatively smooth, and don't throw off a lot of noise. Additionally, they do great when it's wet. I'm not certain how they'll handle snow, but if their performance in heavy rain and other slippery conditions is an indicator, they'll do well.



When it comes to handling in sporty/spirited, dry conditions, they do not match the BF Goodrich Super Sport tires, and they are both classified as Ultra High-Performance All Season tires. The Extreme Contacts handle OK, and I never feel that they are lacking, but the Goodrich's allow much more assertive and sporty driving.



That said, the primary reason that I ditched the Super Sports was because they stunk in all but perfect weather. If I had to do it again, I might not purchase the Conti's. Not because they are poor tires, but because I like to drive ggressively, and the Extreme contacts seem to prefer a more sedate approach. I'd definitely feel good slapping a set of these on my wife's vehicle. They provide confidence when the going gets questionable. They're just not the perfect tire for my driving style. Yet, come winter, I might be singing a different tune.

These tires are astonishingly good. They are everything an SUV tire should be. I put 65,000 miles on mine and they were probably good for another 15-20K. I drove them in 14+ inch blizzards, on sand in 100-degree heat and on potholed urban pavement and they never let me down. The only small trade-off for all this excellence is that they are a bit on the noisy side, which almost an unfair criticism for an all-terrain tire. BF Goodrich really hit one out of the park with this one.

Bought these tires when I was living in Florida. They went on the wife's car. First thing she told me after driving the car was that the steering is broken. The tires are inflated at the right PSI but they do make the car very jumpy. At times, if there are bumps in the road, you think you will jump in the next lane. It wasn't a big deal since the roads in Florida are very good quality, but since I moved to halifax, Canada, oh boy. Their city roads are terrible with huge craters. The car jumps all over the place. I am thinking to lower to pressure to 29-30 PSI, but I don't want to have a blow-out either. The tires are very good in puddles and decent in snow if the car is driven carefully. (this is a FWD car also). I can probably get about 55,000 miles out of the tires since their wear is very good. They are not too loud either. The Goodyear Integrity that came with the car were much softer than the BF Goodrich and the car was not jumping from lane to lane but they were not good in the rain at all. At every stop light, those Goodyears were slipping like crazy. The BF Goodrich on the other hand have very good traction in the wet, or dry. Just make sure the roads are smooth were you drive most, otherwise you will have to get used to the jumping. They must have very hard rubber. For the price, they are good tires.

I've had Goodyear, Michelin, BF Goodrich, Kelly, Dunlop, Toyo - on both this vehicle and on a Toyota Sienna. For the money, the best tire on the market today - hands down. Well made, great traction when you need it - a "true All Season radial" - and I'm putting 4 new ones on my Sienna, because they're also great snow tires.

Had Michelin's but they wear out so fast - and considering it's $100 more per tire to get Michelein, I'm sticking with these. Great Spring/Summer - long trip tire as well.

After thoroughly researching which tire to buy for my F-250 I decided to give the Goodyear Silent Armor a try. So far they have been great. Traction on snow and ice is much better than with the BF Goodrich Rugged Trail that came with the truck. I was a little concerned about the agressive tread on the Silent Armors, but if anything they are quiter than the BFG and the truck seems to ride smoother too (the new tires are load range E just like the OEM tires). My truck has a gas engine so there is no diesel to drown out the sound of the tires and there is little to no noise from the tires. I will report back on how they wear once I have some more miles on them.

As a traveling medical professional my truck has to run in all road conditions. I have been in the mountains of Montana, Colorado, Wyoming and South Dakota and never had a problem getting traction. The past two years, I have been n Minnesota and Northern Iowa, where snow and ice are the normal. The traction has been unbelievable, snow and ice are not a problem. I orginally had BF goodrich ATO tires and though they did have benefits, the Firestone AT tires have less noise and equal amount of traction. I will buy another set of these when they wear out. Good value and they work!!

I bought these tires to replace the lousy OEM BF Goodrich set that came with the truck. Wow what a difference! Dry, wet, snow, mud ... the traction has been outstanding. Even in just 2wd, the tires grab better then the BFGs ever did in 4wd - in conditions where the vehicle wouldn't even move with the stock tires. I was looking for a good street tire that would also perform well in off-road conditions. I have driven in snow deep enough to cause the front bumper to "snow plow", without any issues (probably more that a foot). They have gotten slightly noisier with age, but what tire doesn't. Also, very shortly after purchasing the tire, I got a razor blade from a razor knife stuck in one of the treads, and it broke off deep in the tread. I was worried that I would have to replace the tire - but the tire has NEVER leaked! How is that for a tough tire! I will buy another set when these wear out, although I am concerned that they dont make my exact size anymore.
