Michelin X-Ice Xi2 on Sale

Monday, April 30, 2012 by Ben Rooney

Many sizes of Michelin's popular X-Ice Xi2 tire are currently available at closeout prices. Buying these winter / snow tires out of season can result in significant savings. Not all sizes are on closeout, but many of them are marked down substantially; which means the savings now will really come in handy when winter returns.

This Studless Ice and Snow winter / snow tire is for the drivers of coupes, sedans and family vans that want to combine enhanced ice and snow traction with predictable wet and dry road handling. Most X-Ice Xi2 tires meet Michelin's Green X standard for low rolling resistance that confirms the tire's contribution to lowering vehicle fuel consumption and emissions of CO2 gases. The tire is designed to tackle the coldest winter driving conditions around the world. Michelin X-Ice Xi2 tires meet the industry's severe snow service requirements and are branded with the mountain/snowflake symbol. For more information on the symbol's meaning read "How to Confirm a Winter Performer."

Snow platform indicators (the equivalent of "snow wear bars") are molded into the tire's tread grooves to inform the driver when ice and snow traction will be reduced as the X-Ice Xi2's tread reaches the point where the remaining tread depth becomes less effective in deep snow. Due to the traction capabilities of the X-Ice Xi2, Michelin recommends using this tire in sets of four to provide the best handling characteristics and tire performance.

As with all purpose-built winter / snow tires, the Michelin X-Ice Xi2 should only be used during the winter season to maximize its life span. Take advantage of this opportunity by planning ahead for next winter and saving on an excellent set of winter / snow tires.
