Whether your wheels are a brand new set of top-of-the-line BBS or the original factory
alloys, they look a whole lot better when they are clean. The biggest offender against clean wheels is brake dust, and once it sits on the wheel for a few days it can be a real pain to get off.
I like to keep my wheels clean, but I have a lot of things that take up my time, and I don't always get to do as much upkeep on them as I would like.
The brake pads on German cars tend to be great for stopping, but make a lot of dust. After a couple weeks of neglect, my BMW wheels were looking pretty nasty. I had a little sample bottle of Griot's Garage Wheel Cleaner and decided to give it a try. To say that I was impressed would be an understatement. Using nothing but the cleaner, the little detail mitt they provide and some rinse water, I had all the nasty, caked-on brake dust off all 4 wheels in about 20 minutes. No hard scrubbing required, just spray, wipe, rinse, and then go back and hit any little spots you missed the first time.
I have tried other cleaners in the past, but none worked as well as this. If you have years of caked on dust, you'll probably need a little more elbow grease, but if anything can get your wheels looking good, it's the Griot's Garage products.
