After five sets of Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2 tires, the PE2 tires became unavailable in the 225/45-17 size. I'm excited to try the Pilot Super Sport tires as replacements. In comparison, the Super Sports have a slightly higher tread wear rating, and the pricing is similar. The tires are just as quiet, and a bit softer riding than the PE2's. The handling is even better, both dry and wet. The only slight negative is the turn-in is a bit slower, perhaps due to less stiff sidewalls or beads which are helping improve the ride quality. No matter, my TSX with a slightly modified suspension/brakes handles like it's on rails in the dry and wet, making the daily commute a little more fun!

Great tires that exceeded expectations. Replaced OEM tires at 35K miles and these lasted through 60K miles (10K beyond warranty) of 70+ MPH highway driving and the associated hard braking on S FL highways. I replaced them today with the next gen Turanza Serenity Plus. This is the first time I've gone with the same tire back-to-back in my 20+ years of tire purchases.

Excellent traction both dry and wet, even with the heavy FL downpours we experience here. Very quiet throughout the lifetime of the tires...driving on new highway pavement, they were silent until the end. Little noise on older pavement and better in this regard than the OEM tires. Overall, great performance, especially in the rain, and impressive durability. Possibly a slight decrease in MPG over OEM, but the next gen Serenity is supposed to have a lower rolling resistance and slightly improved mileage. Regardless, this would not cause me to look at other tires. Completely satisfied with these.

Initial Review, 24,015 Miles on Tires
September 10, 2012

I've had four sets of the Micheline Pilot Sport PS2 on my TL and believe it not, the new Pilot Super Sport tire is actually even slightly better, plus it has a 30,000-mile warranty.

Mine are now ready to change with 4/32 on the fronts 2/32 on the rears and at 24,015 miles. Even though I rotate them religiously and always maintain them at 36 PSI for optimum braking, cornering, and fuel mileage, the rears seemed to have worn faster because of a few long highway trips with a heavier-than-normal car due to a full trunk and five passengers over the last few months. I never experienced this kind of wear with the PS2s.

Nonetheless, the Pilot Super Sport tires enable this vehicle to drive and handle the way the engineers designed it before the penny-pinching accountants at Acura decided to use OEM Bridgestone Turanzas. Yuck! What a waste.

The Michelin Super Sports have 100% hold in any condition (never dared try snow), remarkable cornering, and smoothness at very, very high speeds on Arizona's remaining wide-open, cop-free highways (and there are several long stretches in this state so far from donut and coffee shops that you can enjoy the Copper State in a fast car with impunity). A sixth sense and quality radar detector adds to the peace of mind.

Michelin technology gives me confidence. These are not cheap tires, but well worth the few extra sheckles it will cost you to mount them on your favorite ride.

August 13, 2012

I bought these tires AGAIN,they were GREAT after 50,000 miles driven on them and they're reasonably priced in this size. The price/performance of the Grid is pretty good.

My Acura TL is a 6 speed manual, I do not know what the fuss is about the Loud noise is about these tires? They are NOT as bad as everyone is making them out to be. The tires Are GREAT performance tires, and Unbelievable in the SNOW Almost like winter tires.

(particularly wet performance), they are pretty Good with Traction control OFF, in the First half of the TREAD life of the tire. towards the middle to end of the tires TREAD the tires to Break loose when I excellerate at a light BUT remember I have a 6 speed manual and 270 HP, Acura TL so its not a very slow, so do break loose the tires is very easy if you wanted to.

The Grid noise I do NOT hear any worse than another Perfomance tire. but the noise is less than the wind noise at high speed on asphalt. The only time I heard them howl was on a Metal Bridge and Everyones tires Howl on this Bridge crossing. They do transmit impact noise on bumps on the highway, BUt most cars at this Low profile rating of 45 series would. I think the noise levels are reasonable for this tire profile on this car.

I have not seen any Tire side wall bubbles from this TIRE, driving on them for 3 years now. and I have hit many pot holes in IN NYC and north jersey,

I have pushed the tires, Launch GREAT in dry. They do just fine in my typical high-speed, heavy traffic and some city driving. including the cold and wet. Steering feels confident with these tires.

Also winter exposure, Is Very wonderful, very good and I have run them in light snow and ice. I broke them free on purpose both accelerating and braking. They did fine.

I have driven from Pennsylvania-Vermont, in the middle of winter to go skiing. These tires were doing just great on unplowed snowy roads on the highway, and in local towns, up in Vermont.
I purchased another set this month,Love them New.

OK, so I'm a fairly conservative driver, but I like these tires. The original tires were Michelin MXV4, and I debated over these with the Bridgestones, among others. The Serenitys felt slightly heavier and more stable (better grip) on the road. They instantly provided for a softer ride and absorbed the shock from potholes much better. I have had no problems whatsoever in wet weather, and I do have to brake fairly hard at times. Drove over some snow and icy back roads after a mild ice storm on two occasions. My VSA kicked in due to a little ice sliding, but otherwise felt reasonably stable. (I don't know of any tires that can handle ice.) The Serenitys are wearing evenly and slowly, and are not noticeably noisy. -Still seem to have good contact with the road surface. I've done enough research on these tires, and feel confident buying them again without worry. This is a satisfied customer.

These tires are original equipment on my 2007 Acura RL which has AWD. I have found them to be excellent so far, 5 years and 52,000 miles into their life. They probably have at least another 5-10,000 miles of tread life left. I am beginning to see some early "dry rot" on them however. No problems whatsoever with hydroplaning. Excellent wet and dry braking. These are quite tires. Not sure what other reviewers are hearing. I don't drive my car very hard but I've had no problems during cornering. The only negative I see with this tire is the cost; they are expensive. I would buy them again if I can find them at a reasonable cost. By the way, I'm not employed by Michelin nor do I own stock in the company.

For the price, this is a very solid tire. The wet weather handling and braking delivered as advertised. But, after the 20,000 mile mark, I've had notable increases in noise and diminished handling. My last set of tires were the Bridgestone 960 A/S and they handled better on dry surfaces but not wet. Even though the treadwear on the Contis still show some life, they handle more poorly at this stage than my old Bridgestone's did when I replaced them at 32,000 miles. Noise levels and overall ride became more harsh on both sets after 20,000 miles. For my tastes, I missed the handling characteristics on the Bridgestones and it was a good wet weather tire too, just not as good as the DWS.

Initial Review, 500 Miles on Tires
March 06, 2012

Bought these tires as a replacement set for our 16-year-old's first car, a 2004 Saturn Vue Redline. The Redline comes with Bridgestone 245/50/18's that were replaced by the previous owner at a cost of over $1000 (several years ago). They still had a few miles left on them, but when your daughter is a new driver, you want a good set of tires as insurance. The BFG Spec T/A is slightly taller (.9") as it is a 55 series, but the GPS confirmed there is only a 2mph difference in actual speed (72) with an indicated 70mph on the speedometer. Other than that slight negative, the tires are an exceptional value. I bought from Tire Rack and a set of four were delivered to my home for $374 total. After having them M&B, I was still below $450. Less than have what the OEM Bridgestones would have cost.
From a performance standpoint, the tires have been a good choice. The extra sidewall gives the tires more "give" that smoothed out the ride a bit. The 245/50/18's were a little harsher over road imperfections. Road noise is diminished a noticeable amount. I would say they are 20% less noisy than the Bridgestone Serenity set was. Steering feels very neutral, not snappy or sloppy. Grip into turns feels good with good feedback in the steering wheel. Dry traction is very good and the tires track well, even though the 250hp 3.5 Honda engine and 5-speed tranny creates a bit of torque steer in the Vue FWD (2004 V6 models have the same 3.5 Honda engine used several Honda/Acura models). Wet traction is good, and the weight distribution of the Redline seems to help with braking in wet conditions that matches well with the Spec T/A. I didn't notice any hydroplaning at normal speeds (and I shouldn't with about any new tire). No snow driving has occurred so I can't comment on that.
With the few miles on these tires, I can't comment on longevity, but I feel they are an absolute bargain at the current price, compared to other brands. I don't think they are cutting edge but good, safe tires.

Bought these Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum tires 9 months and 10,000 miles ago. These are GREAT tires. These are far better than the Yoko Avid V4S tires they replaced and the original Michelins. The Kumhos feel like the car is glued to the road and handle far better than the Yokos did in both dry and wet conditions. Acceleration, cornering and braking are all great. I've only had a little snow and ice driving experience so far, but they seem to be very good in those conditions too. I would definitely buy Kumho again and find them to be better price/performance choice than the Yokos and the Michelins. I ordered from Tire Rack and two days later they were on the car - great service. Why would anyone go with Goodyears or Bridgestones or whatever when these are so good?

I installed the tires today. It was immediately noticeable that cornering was easier - just driving in the parking lot. This is subjective but the SUV seems to roll easier. Braking seems more responsive. The ride is funny in that it seems smooth but I think I feel road defects through the steering wheel more than before. I drove 40 miles, mostly highway, and I noticed a good improvement in mileage according to the computer. I usually get around 23 on the highway and today it was showing over 26. Road noise was less than before. My previous tires were Bridgestone Dueler 400 H/L and I had 45,000 miles on them.

Wet traction: 10 miles after installation, these tires saved me. I came up on a highway accident in the pouring rain; the 70-0mph braking was remarkable. My foot was planted. I was shocked I didn't hit the car in front of me. No experience in ice or snow yet.

Road Noise: I'm convinced this will always be an issue with Acura. However, these tires are better than the OEM Michelins. I can now use voice commands on my HTC EVO at 75mph and couldn't before.

Dry Performance: No issues here. They feel safe, comfortable and responsive.

Tire Value: Incredible. So far, not spending $1200 at the Acura dealer was a great decision and I don't feel quality was sacrificed.

Tire Rack: Worked perfectly. This was my first purchase and will be a repeat customer. Using a locally recommended installer worked seamlessly. I ordered on Friday afternoon, received a call from installer on Monday, tires installed on Tuesday.

What Speeds Up Must Slow Down, Don't Forget the Brakes

Thursday, May 13, 2010 by Chad Hocker
Don't overlook your brake system when upgrading your vehicle with performance parts. Tire Rack has a number of brake pads and brake rotors available to fit the needs of your driving style. If you prefer replacement brake pads similar to the Original Equipment pads or something with a little more performance or event track pads, Tire Rack has them available and while replacing the pads it's also a good time to replace the rotors while you're on the job.

Don't worry; all you need to know is which vehicle you want to put your brakes on. We have Audi Brake Pads, Acura Brake Pads, BMW Brake Pads, and Brake Pads made to fit many other vehicles. Just let us know the year, make and model of your car and we'll guide you through the selection process.

All of the brake pads and brake rotors are divided into four categories: Premium, Performance Street, Autocross/Track and Truck & SUV.  I would suggest picking rotors and brakes from the same performance categories to ensure a good match.

Why ask Henry about tires?

Thursday, May 6, 2010 by Henry Carlson
Hi! I have worked at Tire Rack for over 13 years. Part of my job is to test the tires we sell on both the highway and on our test track where I push the tires to their limits in both dry and wet conditions. I test all kinds of tires from Standard Touring All-Season tires, High Performance All-Season tires to Extreme Performance Summer tires. Some of my favorites are the Bridgestone and Firestone performance tires that handle great even in wet. By testing tires I am able to inform customers about the differences in handling as well as noise and comfort levels. I have even tested snow and ice tires in an ice rink!

If you drive a BMW, Porsche, Acura, Ford Mustang, Chevy Camaro, SUV, mini-van, pick-up truck or anything in between, I can put you into the best tire and price for you and your vehicle.

Tire Rack also carries a large selection of aftermarket wheels that will enhance the appearance and handling of your vehicle in addition to brake pads and rotors as well as suspension parts.

So why ask Henry about tires? The answer is his over 13 years of tire testing experience. During those 13 years I have seen great improvements in all brands of the tires we sell. Visit our website and if you have any questions please contact me at 800-461-5527 ext. 351 and I will be happy to discuss your tire needs.

Is your Acura ready for Spring?

Thursday, March 4, 2010 by Tire Rack Team
With harsh winter weather dying down (hopefully), it's time to make sure your Acura is ready for spring and summer driving.

If you've been rolling on winter / snow tires, you may want to consider purchasing a new set of Acura tires. You don't have to worry about ice and snow anymore, so it's time for a tire that'll let you have some driving fun—without compromising safety, of course. We put Yokohama AVID H4S tires on the MDX below. (In fact, these tires are High Performance All-Season tires, which would carry you through the winter if your winter / snow tires have seen enough action.)
In addition to the Acura tires, you may want to check out your brakes. A new set of Acura brake pads may be necessary, given the white-knuckle driving you've been doing on those unpredictable winter roads.

If you enter our Upgrade Garage, we'll show you a variety of aftermarket upgrades for your Acura. Including wheels, like the Sport Edition ST5 wheels shown above. Pick the products you want, and we'll get them to you as soon as possible.

You'll be out on those sunny spring roads in no time.

Looking for Acura brake pads?

Monday, January 11, 2010 by Tire Rack Team
Shopping by vehicle is the best way to determine appropriate brake component upgrades. If you drive an Acura, you'll want brake pads that correspond to your Acura's performance level. It goes without saying (but we'll say it anyway) that installing the wrong brake components can lead to a whole slew of performance and safety issues.

If you drive a 2009 TSX (shown), we'd recommend the following Acura brakes:

ATE PremiumOne Pads: "Very quiet and vibration-free. Stopping power is strong and consistent. On par or better than stock brakes so far." -- Tire Rack Consumer Review, Saab 9-2X Aero, MI

Akebono ProACT Ceramic Pads: "I wanted something better than stock, with little fade, and less brake dust that would not eat up my rotors. These fit the bill. I've taken the same pads through two track days, and a mountain run and experienced little to no fade and very little dust." -- Tire Rack Consumer Review, Lexus GS430, GA

Hawk HPS Street Brake Pads: "I couldn't believe that brakes at this price could be so good. Needless to say I will buy Hawk HPS for every car I own...getting these brakes to fade even a little takes lots of effort." -- Tire Rack Consumer Review, Mazda Miata, PA

Search for Acura brake pads.
